- Trying out my Mud Hog tires from Kanati in the snow on my new CCLB 2500HD.
Have to add in, my actuator wasn't working, truck was in 2wd all the way around the block there.
I have the same tires on my Avalanche and have absolutely no issues in the snow with them.. even been in deep snow in my back yard that was over 24 inches deep and had absolutely no issues at all
Lets see proof
Some of the best tires I have ran in the snow were narly mud tires, super swampers run great but I automatically drop 5 to 10 psi out of all 4 tires. Hard tires don't bite properly inflated tires however do. I ran these in Virginia this winter no problems. I am running 33/12:50/R17 on 10" rims so nice wide footprint. No problems with balancing or wear but I rotate every 3,000 miles.
I put about 65,000 on my set. I had them on a 2007 4X4 F-150 and one of them just lost a major chunk right at the edge of the tread touching the sidewall. I mean about a 2 inch by 1 inch chunk of rubber just fell off. But as the tread wore down I had a lot of hard times keeping them balanced. But they performed pretty well for me on the highway and the mud. They weren't that loud until they got worn down.
Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you! Did you have it in 4WD? Or RWD power
It was in 2wd
Actually Kanati is a brand of Greenball Corp which is an American company.
They are still manufactured in Taiwan, it's stamped right on the sidewall.
Well my kanati mudhogs are from Indonesia stamped on the sidewall not Taiwan.
Did your tires ever go out of balance or one feel out of round? I have a new set of these and got them rebalanced twice and they shake terribly going 55-75mph
Yes, long term they were terrible, same experience, wouldn't stay balanced, ate up in like 10k miles
How are these durability/longevity wise? They seem to be direct knockoffs of duratracks, but I'm kinda hoping they're a harder compound, i love the duratracks in the snow, and if I can run these in the summer and get some mileage out of them I think I'll be going this route.
The Trailhog is the Duratrac, these were Mud Hogs. They were crap long term, wouldn't stay balanced, rode like crap, wore out in 10k miles... Never again. I have Falkens on it now
Gotcha, thanks for the input, yeah I love. Running durutracks in the winter, there about the best tire imo for a heavy diesel, but way too gummy in the summer. Mud tire wise the master craft mtr's I could get 20k out of a set of drives pulling a gooseneck trailer delivering sheds worth a tuned very mild built 6.0 powerstroke. There good longevity wise but as all mud tires they were loud.
No tires is good in the snow, unless you have snow rated tires that have the stud or snow chains.
Uh...is it the tires' fault you chose not to engage your full 4x4 capabilities? Are you one of those who honestly believe 4 wheel drive will not help you on ice and snow?
Who said it was the tires fault?
So 3 years later down the line? what is your thought on them? Thank you!
Coral Bryan absolute trash, wouldn't stay balanced, wore bald in 10k, ride like crap... Replaced them with Falkens and haven't looked back
@@TheDrivewayEngineer oh wow, thank you for that, was just about to purchase them, till i saw this & was going to put on my 02 5.3, what size & kind of Falkens do you have?
@@coralbryan5450 I have 285/75r16's, or whatever 285 size they make for 16 wheels, I said the wrong one once and someone made a Federal case out of it lol. Load E, AT3's, I have a couple reviews on them on my channel here.

I beat they would be good if you got them sipped
4 lo would've helped a bit. Not terrible though all things considered
4 anything would have helped lol, turned out my front axle wasn't engaging back then, I don't remember why.
The tires were garbage though, went out of balance twice in a year for no apparent reason, and went 3/4 of the way bald in the same amount of time.
Replaced them with Falken Wildpeaks two years ago.
I got ptsd from watching this.
Those tires don’t compare to the cooper zeon ltzs. 2.5 feet of snow. 55 mph with rooster tail!!
285’s are way too wide for snow...
And yet it's the factory size on a bunch of stuff lol
I run 235/85r16’s on everything I’m going to be driving off road in deep snow and mud
Mud tires are soft.
Well maybe it's because on a ROAD covered in SNOW mud tires really do suck and so do most AT tires except for the winter rated ones
Well, I happen to live where it snows, so do other people, who may be considering these tires. Since most of us aren't running out and changing tires every season, people may like some info into how they work.
Never know when you might find yourself in 6" of snow here in Michigan.
Ive had both the mud hogs and trail hogs on different trucks both work well in the snow if you are running a tall skinny tire if you run a wide tire you will have issues
I've swapped them out for Falken Wildpeaks now and am a lot happier.
Check u joints
China tires???
Taiwan, China, depends on who you ask. I have about 6,000 miles on them now, no real wear, work great for me
wieslaw K I actually had these on my chevy Colorado. Theyre actually pretty awesome . Not bad road noise, and great in snow and four wheelin
Gay review

That is correct, however the point of manufacture is Taiwan for these tires. The same can be said for other American brands as well though.
