We like our visits to Thailand but we like our lifestyle by the beach in California better. As time passed on two of my daughters moved to Hawaii and our oldest still lives in California. Hi James, I'm glad you made this video cos it's the type of conversation I often have with my 18 year old daughter these days and I really need other perspectives. We've lived in Hua Hin for almost 20 years now and I wouldn't live anywhere else. All of Natalie's friends are half Thai aside from a few Russians, so some have left for Europe after finishing school and others have gone to Bangkok for universiry. She'll be going to uni too this year and says she'd prefer to stay in Thailand doing some online business. We do enjoy your videos!
We enjoy watching your videos and agree that anywhere is boring after a while, that's why we come to Thailand for 3 months every year to get away from our winter. Good to mix it up if you can.
More interviews with Annie please. As a 40 year old male in the UK, learning thai and moving there in the future, great to hear a different voice and perspective. She seems an excellently put together young human! 😊. And you can still use mincing in the UK! And I work in the corporate environment

I have a 15 yo half thai daughter who is hell bent on living in Thailand and going to uni there. But as i keep telling her Someones got to pay for it. Guess who. Stay safe. Great video, great interview - Annie's has a very good head on her shoulders, I think you have done well by her and it shows. Personally, I love Thailand and I love where I'm living in the US as well despite all the current controversies. Anyway cheers James, I look forward to your videos and hope to see more of Annie too - she's the real star.
James, love the relationship you have with your daughter. Respect to her culinary skills. Similar time in life I used to do the same, cooking Indian curries from scratch which were well received. As for the whole Thailand versus UK, as someone with Irish, British and Flemish heritage, I totally understand being curious about the other countries that make up your heritage, and by all means visit and take a good look around, but having lived and worked in Hong Kong, Malawi, Germany, and a few other places, hands down Thailand is top of the list, but I could also see Malaysia (Langkawi), Bali, and the Philippines being on the list of places to settle down full time in. Pick and chose depending on the seasons of the year. I know my life has been far from conventional, but I'm very envious of you guys being in Thailand. I've been wanting to relocate for about a decade so far.
Great kid you're raised there mate. Actually I shouldn't call her a kid that's a bit patronising, great young woman. Thoughtful, empathetic and clearly loves you to bits and vice versa. I'm also very fortunate that my family dynamic is much the same but I see constant reminders that not everyone/ family enjoys that same degree of closeness so whatever else is going on in my life I always feel extremely grateful for that. Without getting too hippy drippy about it, and while I myself am also partial to a bit of online retail therapy in the form of Hong Kong's answer to Lazada, Taobao, at the end of the day all the things you accumulate and surround yourself with are just that - things. Who you really care about and who really cares about you is all that counts for anything in this life.
I saw a post with this written on a tee shirt ."support the country you live in OR live in the country you support " never has a truer word been spoken
Charm, beauty, poise, intelligence, and eloquence.❤ Your kid's nice too, I guess. If mincing is forbidden, could prancing and flouncing be next?😡 (Feather duster...🤣!)
Very interesting James, a completely different perspective from any other I’ve seen in recent years. Annie is a very clever and grounded young lady. Her English is impeccable but I’m not really surprised, you’re obviously the biggest influence in her life. Such a shame that university education in Thailand seems to provide such few financially viable opportunities. Imagine studying for all those years to work in 7-11 😩 I also hate what’s going on in the UK, thankfully we’ll be moving to Issan as soon as we sell up. ✈️✈️✈️
Everything very well said James. Annie is divine, and you are rightfully proud. Look after each other. As always, take cate. Kind regards Tony (ps your subs are increasing faster now?)
Wherever you go, there you are. Always good to experience new cultures however good or bad they are at the time. But always nice to be in a peaceful country without 24/7 propaganda, wars and colonial issues. That's what makes Thailand a wonderful place, that shouldn't be taken for granted 😊
Annie is switched on, good insight from her, some time in the UK every now and then is always good to help reset and get some perspective from both sides.
I could relate to a lot you and your daughter have said. I brought my daughter to the uk when she was 5 years old, she is now 26. She recently returned to Thailand for a holiday and she couldn’t wait to return back to the UK . She went to see the family in Takhli, the first thing that they did was to ask her for money, not how are you or anything like that just, we have bills to pay. My wife sends a grand every month. To me, my lovely Thai family are just leaches. If my daughter returns to Thailand in the future, she won’t be going back to Takhil, which I think is really sad. Good luck kid .
@@MeditateMeHigher it’s really sad that can’t see the end of their nose ! It’s just greed plus show “ look at my new car etc “ Hope you’re doing okay Mark xx
My daughter who is Thai/British left Thailand for the UK during Covid. She wanted to study music so i brough her to Manchester where she is doing really well. Bit of a culture shock at first as she had not lived in the UK before. After 3 years here i think she misses home but knows she is in the best place for her degree studies.
Thanks James. My wife and I want to move from London to Thailand but with 2 young kids we have to make sure its the right thing for them. Sometimes we feel like were being selfish. The wife being Thai herself is sure its the best thing for us. London has fallen, thats for sure. My neighbour was murdered last week for her handbag. It doesnt feel safe anymore at night. Living costs are too extreme. Aside from the cleaner air, family and schools theres not much keeping us here. Also, very impressed with the snooker skills 😊
@@EternallyGod its quite clear you dont know how much a "western" equivalent education costs in Thailand. Allot. Also your statement is wrong. There are very good schools in the UK. Many more than in Thailand. Thats why Thais ship their children here.
Annie mentioned Melbourne where her friend went too. It is the most woke city in Australia, an the weather is the worst. The majority that leave, move to Queensland for the freedom an the weather.
Young people should go abroad to gain experience in international standards of living. They can make their decision about where to live that is the most suitable to them later on. I am quite confident that Thailand lifestyle is not bad at all. Young people will realize that after they have enough experience in many places.
Good morning James. You should be very proud of yourself as you’ve brought up a very articulate, charming & grounded young lady. Ive recently retired here from London and the UK has gone downhill. I’ve been back a few times for work & bereavement. It was ok for a short period but good to get back here. Maybe you good go for a few months and see your Mum and visit Spain/ Portugal 🤷♂️, just a thought. Another good Vid 👍
I like your apparent lifestyle. You live in a quiet, rural setting and (seem to) have a peaceful lifestyle. Living in the UK, where I have lived for most of my 58 years, is not terrible by any means but it isn’t as good as it used to be. But like Thailand, living in a city is different to living in a more suburban or rural setting. I live in a town of 70,000 population about 15 south west of Gatwick Airport. A decent town that definitely doesn’t seem “woke”. All that being said, I do want to retire to Thailand 😊. Better weather and more affordable (the south east of the UK is expensive).
Thanks James that was great as usual! Annie is so sweet to cook you dinner & a fine job of it also... her comments were quite interesting too. Like many even we older people 😉 Same Same as she said does wear thin & sometimes we just want different. She has a good head on her shoulders & her choice of Tak & the UK countryside is great! Thanks again found it interesting & hope your doing well.
Rainy season is coming very great for make green trees.going to stay at UK.for a while.6 months.must be great.the weather at this time.Thailand now really humidity.
Great video James! Good to see Annie too. Totally agree re: woke BS. Really hope that Thailand realise what they have (a cohesive society) and do not follow the U.K.'s path. Somehow, I think they'll be OK.
Very interesting video, James. I also have a young daughter here in BKK (British/Thai) and I know many younger mix race Thai people (Aus/Thai, Brit/Thai etc) and it is interesting hearing their story. Many love Thailand but society doesn't really accept them as being 'Thai'. It's not done in a negative way as most revere them but they are also looked upon as being different or not 'Thai Thai'. Just quickly on the woke stuff. Thailand is probably the most accepting and progressive society when it comes to trans, why doesn't the west look at Thailand as an example e.g the pronouns rubbish...not a thing here, trans in sport, etc. When asked if you are a woman 90% would answer "no, I'm a ladyboy or katoey" and that absolutely fine. It seems to be a western privilege or boredom to want to argue about it.
Sounds like Annie really has her head in the right place and a clever young lady particularly where to live and her options to better succeed in life, but not sure if that would be in the English countryside. She even got James to pay for her interview (via cosmetics) and made him suffer the Durian torture 🙂
I was looking forward to this one. Glad to hear the honest opinions. A slightly unconventional format but to the point, not shying taboos or controversial topics. A delight compared to msm propaganda.
Great to hear your daughter’s perspective on things. I’ve grown to sort of like durian, but being the cheap Charlie that I am - prefer to leave it to the wife to enjoy, while I opt for cheaper fruit. I get the ‘woke’ issues in the west, but a bit telling that you have to shy away from anything political in Thailand. Differences make the world go round I guess. Really enjoy your videos!
My son is half Thai and English. Is making a good living here in the U.K. in cyber security. He says that he will at some stage go back to Thailand but wants to make money in the West first
Subscribed. 1) Define "too far", please. 2) When was the English flag (simple red St. George's cross on a white background) last on the England football kit? My 33 year old daughter came out as trans at the age of 27, and has just got approval to change her gender on her French identity papers. I've lived 35 of my 63 years in France and have been French since 2018, Brexit oblige. (Edit: Still British too.) We'll see if you keep me as a subscriber or boot me straight off 🤣.
@@jamesabroad8589 It looks like only I was cause no one else has mentioned it. You won't catch me out Mister with your trickery 🤣🤣🤣🥳🥳 I look forward to your next mince 😯😯👍👍👍
Really good and interesting video James ! Annie seems such a nice, rounded girl. I don't think I could ever go back to Blighty now but i would encourage my son to go and visit and travel in generally. there is a lady in Bangkok selling Durian for 12,000 THB per kg ! keep on mincing James ! 🍻
Very clever young lady. Sydney or Perth Australia Annie. Melbourne is cold with miserable weather most of the year. However, if you can obtain a good paying job or build a good business in thailand, stay there.
Sawasdee krub P'James. As Thai, I've lost my prime time almost 2 decades due to politic conflict in my country. At my current age a few year younger than u, I'm sicked and tired about politics. I never believe in those elites. I'd risk my life against Junta since 2006 coup. But if they do due process, just go for it. Eventhough it's fucked up in many aspects - stupid laws and so on. Let politic be solved at parliament, not on street. Steps by steps. I knew how younger generation feel ... To me they seem to jump from 1 or 2 to 8 or sth. I don't blame them because that's how I feel as well back in the day. I don't have the answer for this issue. I've tried my best to calm and do whatever I can. Woke cultures. Nahhhh it doesn't fly here in Thailand. TBH it's an idea for weak people - spoiled too much. In Thailand, It's not like we accepted. I would say we do not against them in general much more accurate. It doesn't matter who you are as long as you do good for your family, not disturbing our society. Woke is the problem in itself for the west, not here. Stupid one will think we have the same issue. So we must tackle it as US/UK. That's totally absurd. It's not the standard of electrical devices like usb-c. Not everything in the west fit well in Thai society. We don't need to follow every steps. Individualism in the west cause a lot of problem here. Sth they might think it's their right. So they show no grateful/sympathy toward others ..... well well well many things are not right, it's privilege in a sense they don't realize. Thinking about their own right too much to the point they never think about society and country as a whole. We need to find the balacne btw individual and collective. Otherwise we'll see people do whatever they want without considerate. Finally, Love to hear comment from Annie. I've raised my nephew until he graduated university in Engineering a couple years ago. He express his idea like Annie. Wish your daughter succeed and happy.
If thailand jumps on the bandwagon and it gets out of hand, then I'll be moving on. Sometimes you think things are accepted when in fact it really isn't, just tolerated.
Annie has a very cute accent. Does Annie have any interaction with other english speakers on daily basis in Thailand? Or she learns english mostly from you and in the school?
Never had the chance to live in or near a qaint English village away from the cities but I can definitely imagine a nice quality of life in doing so even for all four seasons. I never watch the news anymore as I prefer not to keep up with all the crap that's going on, just like to add that Annie has a lovely English accent that would very much fit in with the English countryside methinks.
I've lived in Thailand 25 years , great country for a retirry. However for your daughters future the best thing u could do is encourage her to do is leave Thailand.
the issue is it will always 'go too far' if your nation/society doesn't have standards AND enforce them. Also, if your nation/society emphasizes all cultures (except its founding one) then it has NO culture and will always end in dystopian debauchery such as the UK currently.
There is a demand for women in the mining industry here in WA, if they have the right skills. of course, It is not for everyone and everyone won't enjoy it. All the best for her career.
Believe me, as a Brit living in Thailand and Vietnam since 2016, theres a reason why 600,000 people have left the UK on each of the last 3 years as we import 1.3 million per year to replace us. Seriously, dont even think of giving up what youve got in Thailand to move back to the UK cause you'll regret it forever. 👍
Couldn’t agree more. I moved to the U.K. in 1999 and have become so disillusioned by what it has become. While I am setting up my retirement home to in Thailand 🇹🇭 in the very near future, I feel I have had to abandon my life dream of living in a "first world country" where even Thailand has better broadband than the U.K. That’s just one aspect. Every time I pop over to Thailand, there are new things to see or buy that I would never expect to see in the UK
Lovely relationship with your daughter. And it's always interesting the way multi racial kids tend to speak in the two accents. I would always be thinking l should wear my "l'm her dad" t- shirt whenever we went out.
Should have grown a durian tree in the garden and then free durian. Does take a while to grow them though. Get some ant powder and sprinkle it around the place; took me years to discover it and now no creepy crawlies. Helps if you close any holes for them to come in. Interesting perspective from Annie; I suppose she is quite young so probably does not know what she really wants.
I will take my daughter to UK for an extended stay (less than a year) after she finishes high school. She needs to fully understand about her dad's country, but 100% she won't want to stay there. The UK and Europe are totally fu**ed. I'd rather be a foreigner in a foreign land than be a foreigner in my own country. Also, how come Annie doesn't tell you to fu** off every 20 minutes (like my daughter does); do you cut those bits out?
Great talk, it's always being importaint to travel and experience different cultures as part of someones education. We are in strange times at the moment but both you and Annie have good heads on your shoulders so I am sure she will make good decisions. The word mincing always brings back memories of Mr Humphreys from are you being served.😁
The woke stuff is one thing, but the main things I don't like about the UK are the st*bbings that've been going on, how being a Deano has become the norm (if you're not aware of what Deano's are, look it up. It is quite a recent meme), how humdrum life here is and how people seem to celebrate this mediocrity as if it's something to be proud of. Also not keen on the destruction of nature everywhere I look with the aforementioned Deano's paving over their front gardens to make room for his and hers Range Rover's. Honestly, just the general culture here in the UK nowadays is pretty despicable, but what's even more despicable is the noticeable lack of people questioning it. I say "wtf is happening to this country?" in my head every day, but I feel like most people just go along with it like the obedient little worker drones they are. As long as they have the latest iPhone, Netflix, an ugly new car and a gym membership, they're happy.
Well done. As my thai wife would mention, an investment with a good payoff. We are currently in the US, preparing to move to our house in hua hin. Peaceful and not much drama. Your daughter may enjoy that environment. We witness the woke crap here in the US and I am weary of it. Your daughter has her head on straight and is more focused than moat people her age, a joy to watch the interactions. I have seen the immigrants crap in every country they are given asylum to, and it is disgusting. It appears to be a specific group hardly worth a mention. Take a look at a once great country, Sweden, and that is a perfect example of what not to do now. No country is the best, just a choice of how much one cares to deal with, hence our exit from the usa.
It spoke volumes when you felt you had to censor some of your questions to annie, everyone in Thailand is oppressed in one shape or form by the Thai government, of course Thai people look to the west as a saviour, how many Thai women who have lived in the west want to move back to Thailand, not very many, I’ve lived here 3 years and already I’m fed up with the noise and dirtyness of the country, most Thai people living in rural villages have little respect for hygiene and pretty much no desire to have a clean and tidy house, most Thai people are happy to have a house that resembles a tip. Emducation here is sun par with most qualifications here not recognised in the west. I know probably 5 or 6 women that are residents in the Uk, their husbands have died but they are not rushing to come back to Thailand because they have seen the light, Thailand is ok for us old boys wanting a bit of sunshine and a slower pace of life, but for Thai people especially women they want to leave
I would like congratulate both you James and your wife rearing Annie into a intelligent beatiful young women and I always admire your relationship.Good on you James and Annie. I only asked my 15 year old yesterday does he like living on a island he said he enjoys the freedom and knowing everyone but he stated all the tourists annoy him lots. I asked him he fancied western women or Thai or maybe boys he said half and half is his cup of tea. I miss home lots but like you happy here when I see all the woke issues at home and Ireland has now a serious migrant issue so happy to be away from all of that. Dont be fooled as you know about Thai women my lady controls everything even does all my visa stuff I just stand and smile at the IO. I learnt early keep the ATM topped up leads to a happy smiling wife in the land smiles.
Wow 6 hour trip on a bus? All that youtube money and you didn’t send a limo to pick her up? Anyway, great insight from a local’s perspective. Annie speaks surprisingly better english than me. How is that possible? I grew up in the US school system - that might explain it.
I dont blame her for wanting to leave Thailand but to say living in UK for good may be much too early say.Coldness and more income always attract people to leave. But as for me I come from average income family and I have been in overseas for more than 20 yrs before realizing that no place like home and promised myself I will not leave my country again LOL.Your daughter should go for a tryout there since you are from there.Who knows may be after a few months or a few years ,she may want to come back home to Thailand unless she ends up marrying a british man then that will be another story.Anyway Good Luck and all the best to her.
The UK population was getting old and shrinking. The government knows that net migration of young working immigrants is needed bolster its social programs. Remember you old geezers who complain about immigration, these immigrants are your saving grace who are paying your pension.
I would have thought there would be great career opportunities for Annie in places like Bangkok, particularly as she is a natural English speaker and writer. Not many Thais speak English to her level and understand the nuances in the language. I wish her every success.
Annie needs to graduate Uni, save up 100k bht then follow her friend to Melbourne on a Subclass 462 Work and Holiday visa using her Thai passport..... she can live cheaply with friends and earn some good money whilst she is there....
@@LD-yq7cl she could apply for a 417 visa with her UK passport but then when she gets there and starts applying for jobs most recruiters use AI sorting tools and if the degree country and passport country don't match it might just be red flagged.

Charm, beauty, poise, intelligence, and eloquence.❤
Your kid's nice too, I guess.
If mincing is forbidden, could prancing and flouncing be next?😡
(Feather duster...🤣!)
Ha ha. I like the sound of flouncing. 😏😁
Imagine studying for all those years to work in 7-11 😩
I also hate what’s going on in the UK, thankfully we’ll be moving to Issan as soon as we sell up.
WE ❤ her !
🙏 great healthy success miss Annie !
Thank ur parents daily...🙏🙏
Great content too daddy 🤙🤙
Cheers mate.👍🍺

Annie is switched on, good insight from her, some time in the UK every now and then is always good to help reset and get some perspective from both sides.
Looks like you have a smart daughter and she have good points.
Cheers Kenneth. 👍
You sound like my father 😂unfortunately he left my mum n her family due to this also. My dad took me to Australia when I was 3! ❤
@@MeditateMeHigher it’s really sad that can’t see the end of their nose !
It’s just greed plus show “ look at my new car etc “
Hope you’re doing okay

My daughter who is Thai/British left Thailand for the UK during Covid. She wanted to study music so i brough her to Manchester where she is doing really well. Bit of a culture shock at first as she had not lived in the UK before. After 3 years here i think she misses home but knows she is in the best place for her degree studies.
What is the point of a degree in music?
Yep, London as a hell hole now. Depends on your budget and international school fees can be steep. Maybe try for a few years if possible. Good luck. 👍
She's so sweet. I have a young son in Chiang Mai. It's always interesting to see how "mixed" kids adjust and grow here. Thanks for sharing. Cheers 🍻
Cheers mate, appreciate the kind words. Yes, taking a break from anything can be a good idea and give you a different perspective. All the best 👍
Cheers Mike. 👍
Cheers andy. Yes certainly won't see some of the things that are going on in the west here. All the best 👍
thanks for sharing, how is the leaning wall of tak has it straightened up a little more yet cheers
It has stabilized, it might have moved back a little bit. But not much. But at least it still standing LOL 👍
Haha yes, I have to go through the durian torture every year LOL. 👍😁
I was looking forward to this one. Glad to hear the honest opinions. A slightly unconventional format but to the point, not shying taboos or controversial topics. A delight compared to msm propaganda.
Cheers Serge. 👍🍻
Cheers, appreciate the kind words. Yes unfortunately you have to be careful what you say here and in the UK especially on social media. All the best 👍
Sorry new to your channel, is there a Mrs?
Yes but I believe she doesnt want to be on camera.
I keep her under the house 👍 she actually hates being on camera so edit her out most of the time.
Cracking vlog.
Great to see the mincing is to the fore.
I'm sure Annie concurs.
Yes, she does mate. Getting more mincing in now the weather has cooled.👍😁
My son is half Thai and English. Is making a good living here in the U.K. in cyber security. He says that he will at some stage go back to Thailand but wants to make money in the West first
Great video again 👍😎
She is great! Very smart girl. By the way, do you play trumpet James?

Sydney or Perth Australia Annie. Melbourne is cold with miserable weather most of the year. However, if you can obtain a good paying job or build a good business in thailand, stay there.

Sometimes you think things are accepted when in fact it really isn't, just tolerated.
living in the country side UK like clarckson farm, only need a few million POUNDS
Very true mate. Not easy to live well in the UK unless you're a millionaire. 👍
Annie has a very cute accent. Does Annie have any interaction with other english speakers on daily basis in Thailand? Or she learns english mostly from you and in the school?
Just from me, hence her amazing linguistic skill LOL. All the best 👍
Hit the nail on the head there mate. 👍
Brilliant vid James, interesting and funny, Annie is smart.
Cheers Liam appreciate the kind words mate.👍
Nice to hear a vote for the English countryside.. but what’s happening with your garden! Watering during the hot season would be a good thing..

@trevorsmith7753 Yes, the Great Replacement is in full swing! 😯🫣🤕
Annie's got a lovely Demeanour James ,you must be proud 🙏Durian 😶But Durian ice cream 😋
Cheers gino. Yes proud Dad here. 👍
Cheers appreciate it. Less ants now the rains have come now it's just flying termites LOL 👍

Yes, I still remember that show. Loved it.👍🍻
The woke stuff is one thing, but the main things I don't like about the UK are the st*bbings that've been going on, how being a Deano has become the norm (if you're not aware of what Deano's are, look it up.
My two Thai young adult stepkids have decided they have no desire to live in Thailand and Australia is good for them.
Yes it will be interesting to see where Annie ends up too. Good luck to you and your family. 👍
depends what degree they have and how much it is worth outside thailand... thai doctor, nurse at best in the west...

Great stuff, but I had a very different view on life at 20, than I do today, but I understand where you are coming from
I have two half Thai girls, that they have options reassures me…
True mate. They are very lucky. 👍
True, seems to be a higher percentage of women that leave. 👍
the roads in the west are paved in gold and everybody earns millions...
I learnt early keep the ATM topped up leads to a happy smiling wife in the land smiles.
jeezes...the UK like the rest of Europe is a hellhole!
Wow 6 hour trip on a bus? All that youtube money and you didn’t send a limo to pick her up? Anyway, great insight from a local’s perspective. Annie speaks surprisingly better english than me. How is that possible? I grew up in the US school system - that might explain it.
I teach her proppa innit. lol😁👍
The militant woke culture had overran the USA and I am leaving the US for Phitsanulok to raise my son in a more family centric environment
Good for you mate. 👍
Pretty sure that was the same motivation to Sweden and Germany. Somebody needs to collect the trash and wash the dishes.
Hang on there fella, England not allowed to have jack on their shirts anymore. 55555

I would have thought there would be great career opportunities for Annie in places like Bangkok, particularly as she is a natural English speaker and writer. Not many Thais speak English to her level and understand the nuances in the language. I wish her every success.
Annie needs to graduate Uni, save up 100k bht then follow her friend to Melbourne on a Subclass 462 Work and Holiday visa using her Thai passport..... she can live cheaply with friends and earn some good money whilst she is there....
why Thai passport? does she not have UK citizenship?
@@LD-yq7cl she could apply for a 417 visa with her UK passport but then when she gets there and starts applying for jobs most recruiters use AI sorting tools and if the degree country and passport country don't match it might just be red flagged.
