I cant believe I've been missing out on all this good music. George Strait is one smooth dude. This old school cat has songs that speak exactly what my heart is feeling lol. I am a fan for life now. His music is the truth.
CHECK OT CHRIS STAPLETON.....KEKE WYATT DID A COVER OF HIS SONG TENNESSEE WHISKEY AND HE BROGHT ME HERE, SORRY ONE OF THE LETTERS ON MY KEYBOARD JST STOPPED WORKING. LOL. BT YES CHECK HIM OT!!!!
You know I'm a pure county boy. And we all are on this earth just for a little while. Race has been mentioned a lot from some of you. Good people are just damn good people no matter what damn color you are. This man just sang the hell out of this song. Every time I watch it i am blown away. you gotta have a lot of balls to go into an auditorium with that many white people in your black get on stage and sing your ass off this is one hell of a guy so if you're a racist kiss my ass
I get your sentiment, it's intended as a compliment to Jamie's performance. However, it's a bit misconstrued. Black people have been performing on stage for white audiences (still do, America is only 13% black) since before desegregation. Do you mean for Jamie to perform a country song in front of country music fans maybe? (as in that requires balls ???).
Yes and he has one of the most beautiful smiles in the world IMO. George Strait seems like one of the nicest people in music these days. I can't get enough of his singing after finding him via this video. ruclips.net/video/J10YO_sWT9s/видео.html
I remember sitting at home with my wife on this night, we watched the entire show, and this truly was the performance of the night. I had no clue just how multi-talented Mr. Foxx is, but I became an instant fan. It does'nt show in this video, where King George himself said, "I may be thinking about the way I sing thay from now on."
I'm convinced. Jamie Foxx is the most talented man on the planet. He can sing, he can do comedy, he can act, he can do it all. And he can cater his act to whatever audience he's trying to reach. He's amazing. But I'll confess...George Strait is still the King. :-) And Jamie's right--nobody can do a ballad like King George.
Wish I had a voice like one of them. Just look at George's face right in the middle of the song, you can tell he's thinking "Damn this motherfucker is singing my song better than me"
Jamie Fox Amazing, talented, and wonderful person! I grew up in Terrell, and yes I was @ that concert. Great show. Hard to believe George came there to perform 🤔 Unfortunately, Terrell Texas was and is still one of the most segregated places in America , not to their credit. Moved away and pray one day, as a new day dawns, people’s heart will change and the next generation will come to embrace all races of people as our Creator intended for mankind to live, in the beauty of diversity!
I'm a musician and a music lover. I absolutely love Jamie's rendition and tribute to King George. I never would have thought of that song as an R&B ballad, but it was so right. Amazing. I love crossing those cultural lines. You ought to see the looks I get when people hear a white boy sing "Purple Rain" for the first time.
+James Justice why tf do white people always feel the need to randomly bring up political bullshit on totally irrelevant video's, its like yall think it makes you look smart to just say the words "political, left wing, propaganda, democrat, republican ect." just fuckin stick to the damn subject, WE GET IT you're deep because you're into politics OKAY!
George Straight has always made me proud to be from a small town in texas! There is no generation in our family that doesn't love you George! Jamie Foxx nailed this song :)
Music is the one thing that should never be associated with color. It's a form of expression that tells a story of situations and life experiences. We may not agree with it and we may not like or respect it, but we should never make it about color. It's easy to do because of the segregation and the inability for races to intermingle. However, the ability to recognize TALLENT is universal. I have everything from Robert Johnson to Incubus to Ludakris to The Alman Brothers to Merle Haggard in my collection and they all have a place in my heart for one reason or another.
You sir just made the most intelligent post I have seen in quite some time. Thank you. Im glad to know im not the only one who doesnt make race a standard.
yes, remember "i will always love you" hit country #1 2x and top 40/hot 100#1 by a black artist. "i can love you like that" hit #1 on country & then #1 on top 40/r&b/hot100 by a black artist.
John Michael and All 4 one were both amazing but Dolly and Whitney. Possibly the two greatest Diva's from there genre just hold that special place in my heart
Awesome cover! The best part of the whole thing is that it sounded like a totally different song, he wasnt trying to do a carbon copy of George's original.
I'm really glad to see this video. I am a young black woman who absolutely loves George Strait. I have been listening to his music for years. IIt's great to see an R&B artist embracing the wonderfulness of George's music. It just goes to show that good music can be appreciated by all.
wow that why fox is a pimp.....country or r and b this song is a classic.....how many black superstars would own a country song like fox did....fox is so talented....and he still repects his texas roots.......grats to foxx and all he has to offer
some dudes I bet Jamie cried after that. Imagine being a black kid who loved country music but wasn't allowed to attend the performance of a favorite legend...in your home town. I'm sure he felt dejected and ostracized. Years later the legend validated that kid making him feel loved. Jamie probably used to sing that song all the time.
Had George known what was gong on, with Jamie trying to get in, and being turned away, he would have gone to the gate, and said "hell, yeah, he IS coming in.' I was at a roping in the late 90's and George was there competing , too. He was just one of the guys, hanging out with the rest of us between runs...and he is one hell of a cowboy!! The man can rope! I could see him putting a cowboy ass-whupping on that sob!! :)
A lot of black singers would and could own country songs. Whitney made dolly's " I will always love you" an international hit. Black singers have been bridging the musical gap for centuries-ask whites in the UK and other parts of Europe. JS. You must live in a bubble...
Ordinarily I would be completely against changing a song like this, but Jamie just knocked it out of the park. He was amazing, and it was a great tribute to a very deserving man.
What makes a good cover, IMO, is when an artist makes the song theirs, not when they try to copy and sound like the original artist. I've been watching some of the videos from this tribute, Brooks and Dunn did it with their version of "The Cowboy Rides Away" and Jamie defiantly does it here. I love the soul/RB fill to it. It sounds like the song could've originally been an RB song. Great cover!
That was AWESOME!! I do love me some King George and I think Jamie Foxx made him proud singing his song!! He really did a great job making it his! That's the BEAUTIFUL thing about music, it's UNCONDITIONAL and COLOR BLIND! It's LOVE universal!! For any and ALL!!
I've never heard this song before, but now I want to hear Mr. Strait sing it. Mr. Foxx is so supertalented, he can sing the alphabet song and make it sound beautiful. I have heard him sing The Brady Bunch theme song and other songs that were not originally soulful songs , but when you can sing so well, anything you sing will sound great. In other words, "when you got it, you got it." Meow y'all.
Jamie Foxx could sing on a tricycle balancing Grammy awards on his head, while playing piano and accepting an Oscar, while doing a stand up comedy routine as the funniest guy in the room...and I'd golf clap at this point like it was nothing.
Terrell, TX is still the same way. All the blacks live on one side of the tracks. I moved from there because the schools were awful. I'm glad he got out and made a good living.
Country Jazz and Soul all came out of Nashville around the same time. This is more in line with R&B, which is just a progression of soul music. They have diverged over the years, but the heritage will always be there.
Jeff Tappan not racist at all, just racial stereotyping that everybody does and that's ok. we are all different but still beautiful, jamie foxx just kind of showed that
Not very many singers can pull off a King George song and well I personally never get tired of listening to Jamies version of this song! I think he Rocked It! I still have that show recored on DVR for his performance alone! Do I think he stole the show that night? YES! I think he was the best performance over all!! No I am not black or white just a simple girl from Texas who loves her country music and gives props when and where they are needed and well Jamie deserves them hands down!!
George Strait is still the man... but damn, Jamie Foxx sang the hell out of this! If anything, Jamie's version may appeal to a more diverse audience and bring a greater awareness to Mr. Strait's music and legacy. Well done Mr. Jamie Foxx and thank you Mr. George Strait.
Wow awesome job Jamie! My late father was an avid George Strait fan in and out and I just wanna say he'd really love this cover I know I did awesome man awesome
AMEN to that. im black and i LOVE country music. my family picks on me alot for it but i dont care.
Many of my black friends here in Oklahoma love country and are Rodeo athletes and lovers.
Yes, he has many black fans. I am one and have loved George Straits music for over 30 years.
I cant believe I've been missing out on all this good music. George Strait is one smooth dude. This old school cat has songs that speak exactly what my heart is feeling lol. I am a fan for life now. His music is the truth.
He has 61 number 1 hits. More than any other artist in history. He is a legend :) glad you're a fan!
I felt exactly the same!
That's why we call him the King! Welcome to the club :)
Jerrell Blackshire glad you're enjoying the music and welcome to true country
CHECK OT CHRIS STAPLETON.....KEKE WYATT DID A COVER OF HIS SONG TENNESSEE WHISKEY AND HE BROGHT ME HERE, SORRY ONE OF THE LETTERS ON MY KEYBOARD JST STOPPED WORKING. LOL. BT YES CHECK HIM OT!!!!
I had to revisit this after Jamie Fox's health battle. I'm praying that you have a full recovery.
You know I'm a pure county boy. And we all are on this earth just for a little while. Race has been mentioned a lot from some of you. Good people are just damn good people no matter what damn color you are. This man just sang the hell out of this song. I agree!!!!!
+Richard Alls Tell 'em one more time, so they understand !!
A.M.E.N.🙌🏽 💕

you tell erm!! LOVE your comment. God bless you.
Love what George was doing, not only digging Jamie's performance, but watching the crowd eat it up. What a professional!
That look to Mr. Strait, and his nod of approval back, to let Jamie say his name was incredible. 🤙🏽
George was smiling during the whole song!!!!
Yes and he has one of the most beautiful smiles in the world IMO. George Strait seems like one of the nicest people in music these days. I can't get enough of his singing after finding him via this video. ruclips.net/video/J10YO_sWT9s/видео.html

George is the Sinatra of Texas. Even rappers will agree.
yep our kids will know him too
absolutely.... today's garbage isn't country. my kids listen to country, but it's 80-90's only.
Hell naw i live in dallas we dont no buddy NO CAP
He's recorded with sinatra before..
You took the words right out of my mouth. Thank you!
Jay Davis lol I swear I’ve been saying that for years
Notice that he got a standing ovation. Not just from the crowd, but from King George himself! This was a great cover of this song. Loved it!
Wish I had a voice like one of them. Just look at George's face right in the middle of the song, you can tell he's thinking "Damn this motherfucker is singing my song better than me"
lmaooo
You wish he was thinking that. The king is not impressed
No way in hell bro
I guarantee that thought never crossed his mind, although he probably thought that perhaps Jamie could record that song and bring it back to life...
Jamie Fox
Amazing, talented, and wonderful person!
I grew up in Terrell, and yes I was @ that concert. Great show. Hard to believe George came there to perform 🤔 Unfortunately, Terrell Texas was and is still one of the most segregated places in America , not to their credit. Damn! Jamie Foxx killed this. Just goes to show that great song writing transcends genre's
+Ned Beasley AMEN!
I agree with you also. Jamie did a great job covering George. It's definitely not about race. Much love to you!!
Yea sir
Ned Beasley true indeed
Ned Beasley amen
Jamie Foxx is literally one of the most versatile, talented guys on the planet.
Jamie Foxx, mad new respect for you man! Great job!!
I dislike his political views, but man, this guy can sing!!!
+James Justice "hey I don't agree with his choice of cereal but this guy can sing!"
+James Justice "I don't agree with the ol' pinch n pull technique he uses to scratch his testicles but this guy can sing!"
+James Justice see how fuckin stupid and random that shit is? IT'S IRRELEVANT! so just stop, it makes u sound like a fuckin doosh.
I love George Strait but Jamie Foxx you done an amazing job on this song
I love how he sings this and his stage presence is awesome!!
The smile on the king's face says everything what a good job jamie did on the song
Awesome. Foxx should sing a lil country. Whole new Fan base. The brother is awesome.
Kenneth Brown Ray Charles sang country
I believe Jamie is the most talented man on the planet. He could definitely do it!
Jammie has real talent. It doesn't matter if you like him or not. The man can sing...
Loved it. T's up again..
George Straight has always made me proud to be from a small town in texas! There is no generation in our family that doesn't love you George! Jamie Foxx nailed this song :)
WOW Jamie Foxx Nailed this just awesome
PPL cant see the beauty of country it has so much soul and heart as u can see theres a fine line between alot of country songs and R&B
That's awesome! A fellow Texan. Respect for Jamie Foxx!
I Cry Everytime I watch This Video, Jamie Is Soo Humbled & Just Performing For George Strait Is Soo Invaluable.
Jamie Foxx nailed that song , he brought tears to my eyes. 💕
Mad respect ✊.. Texas shines everywhere "recognize ". Holly hood
Ioup1000, amen. 🤘🏻

He's from texas.race doesn't matter music transends
+zorba jevon
No doubt. Ray Charles, Charlie Pride and Darius Rucker are some of my favorites. Now I can add Jamie Foxx to my list.
wiz9496 Very impressive. I've never heard him sing before.
He STILL couldn't get in that club tho...JUST SAYING...
thats why theres so many whites in rap
Exactly! We've all got a heart and soul and that's what the music touches. It don't see any color but blood red.
A comedian, an actor, musician, and a singer. and bad ass at all of them...awesome..that was tight
Awesome cover! The best part of the whole thing is that it sounded like a totally different song, he wasnt trying to do a carbon copy of George's original.
Craig Bohr That's what I appreciate he wanted to tribute George but made made the song his own..
Wow Jaime knocked that song out of the park!
Gives me the chills, he put his heart and soul in that. A+
This was absolutely beautiful version!!!! Jamie blew it out of the water!!!!
Jamie is just so darn likeable. His multifaceted talent is just on another level.
I love the way Jamie does this, he put a major spin on it and I can watch it over and over...!!!
I'm really glad to see this video. I am a young black woman who absolutely loves George Strait. I have been listening to his music for years. IIt's great to see an R&B artist embracing the wonderfulness of George's music. It just goes to show that good music can be appreciated by all.

This was an amazing performance and proves that anyone can love/relate to country music! :)
Ordinarily I would be completely against changing a song like this, but Jamie just knocked it out of the park. He was amazing, and it was a great tribute to a very deserving man.
I love this rendition of "You Look So Good In Love." What a n amazingly talented individual.
Jamie.... you are so gifted.... get well soon!
Two of Texas finest. Jamie foxx and George strait
What makes this clip so good is even a legend like George Strait is enjoying Jamie Foxx's charisma on stage
What makes a good cover, IMO, is when an artist makes the song theirs, not when they try to copy and sound like the original artist. Shows that his songs sound good in any tone. He killed it!!! Im a fan of country and R&B...
Beautiful Jamie. Rnb'd a country song up. Amazing. X

One word Damn. Jamie Rocked this.
Wow. I was shocked. This is actually very good. Props to Jamie Foxx.
Why are you shocked?
Jamie Foxx could sing on a tricycle balancing Grammy awards on his head, while playing piano and accepting an Oscar, while doing a stand up comedy routine as the funniest guy in the room...and I'd golf clap at this point like it was nothing.
Jamie seems more country then most of the pop country infesting the radio now days . He did a great job.
Terrell, TX is still the same way. All the blacks live on one side of the tracks. I moved from there because the schools were awful. I'm glad he got out and made a good living.
That's funny because I moved to Terrell 11 months ago. I see whites and blacks living in the same neighborhood....I'm glad things have changed.
He sounds real good singing that song, I love me some George Strait and I love Me some Jaime too.
I Love Jamie & George this makes me want Love in my life 👍👍sang babe
Awesome story and song!! Go jamie
No disrespect to Country music but he put Soul into this song. I love it
Maybe you should listen to George Strait sing it then
Country and r&b have a strong connection. Listen to more country(not most of the new crap) and you'll see it. Ne-yo has written country songs.
Country Jazz and Soul all came out of Nashville around the same time. This is more in line with R&B, which is just a progression of soul music. They have diverged over the years, but the heritage will always be there.
BofaMahnuts At the risk.of sounding racist, country music has been called " white man's soul music " .
Jeff Tappan not racist at all, just racial stereotyping that everybody does and that's ok. we are all different but still beautiful, jamie foxx just kind of showed that
That was really sweet. Bless his heart for singing one of the great George Strait's songs as good as he did.
Why is this not a number one R&B hit?
I am SO in love with Jamie!!! He is the epitomee of a gentleman!
George and Jamie, class acts. Great music, brother.
Beautiful homage to King George, Mr. Foxx. Thank you from a VERY diehard George Strait & Classic Country Music fan. God bless.
Great Tribute to the King of Country!
God DAMN, I love the both of you.
Jamie Foxx...super ultra talented
Yes, you are very respecful and I agree
Wow J beautiful
i watch this video at least once a week. george is top 5 country singers of all time but jamie foxx crushes this song, beautiful
Not very many singers can pull off a King George song and well I personally never get tired of listening to Jamies version of this song! I think he Rocked It! I still have that show recored on DVR for his performance alone! Do I think he stole the show that night? YES! I think he was the best performance over all!!
I am in love with Jamie Foxx!
