Man this song from Disturbed is so powerful heck it paid tribute to the man-bat because it's so hardcore it makes me want to unleash the beast from within
"Francine and March tried to protect me but it was too late. The beast knew what chemicals were needed to bring itself about. It was out of my control and it only needs one more component to complete the process. It's in me Batman."
I think the best portrayal of Man-bat outside of comics is from AK. His appearance was brief, but he was tragic and not pure evil. Honestly, your complaints about Kirk are similar to my complaints about Lizard. I always thought his comics were predictable and always followed the same formula, but after thinking about it more, I realised that the stories are varied and try something new with Connors. Just like with most Man-bat comics. This was a very good tribute and I look forward to your DAVE video
Yeah AK had a very good take on Kirk, a pity he didn’t have much screen time and his side mission was so boring and repetitive to play through. It’s a hard toss-up for me with that version and the versions of Man-Bat in Beware the Batman and the Batman Unlimited movie, those other two actually made the idea of a heroic Man-Bat interesting and I like it better when another villain forces Kirk to work for them as a henchman, he works better as a reluctant villain in my opinion. Honestly, I feel that people only think Lizard and Man-Bat stories are repetitive because they don’t actually take the time to read many comics starring those characters and just jump to conclusions. I’m guilty of that myself, I hadn’t read any Man-Bat stories other than some Batman Beyond tie in comics before making this video and so I used to also think that all Man-Bat stories were identical. But I ended up enjoying all the ones I did read.
I’m not sure, it’s kind of a tie between his 1995 origin story and the Streets of Gotham two parter where he fights Huntress. I also have to be honest, I actually don’t really like his first appearance that much and I’m not sure why Rogues loves it a lot. I feel that it’s as outdated as the original Ra’s al Ghul saga which came out around the same time as it has a lot of things in it that don’t make any sense to me like Francine willingly turning herself into a bat monster so she can be with Kirk or something. His 1995 origin is actually better in my opinion.
I agree with you on the fact that he actually could work as a Reluctant Villain like in Beware The Batman. He sorta reminded me of Molten Man from Spectacular spider-man, which i really enjoyed. What do you think about Tom Hardy as Bane? I think he was the best part about DK Rises, just wish he wasn't Talia's henchman or being associated with League of Shadows. He could've worked as a stand-alone villain perfectly in my opinion.
In BTAS I think the reason Kirk made the Man Bat serum was because he wanted to prove his father in law Dr March's theory that bats would survive the next stage of evolution where humans wouldn't right and help humanity survive by turning them into human bat hybrids. But the more he took the serum he became addicted to it and that's why whenever he turned into Man Bat he'd go to places and steal the ingredients for the formula. Because after Langstrom was cured he was a good guy since in Tyger Tyger he helps Batman by telling him about Emile Dorian's experiments on cats after Dorian kidnaps Catwoman, turns her into a cat creature and wants her to be Tygrus's mate. And in Terror in the Sky he helps Batman cure his wife Francine after she accidentally becomes a She Bat while helping her dad Dr March clean up a smashed vial of the formula.
You could be right but I kind of wish it was actually mentioned in the show though. The way Kirk acted in his first episode he just seemed like a crazy mad scientist.
great video! the song is perfect for Man Bat! I agree with you about the repetitiveness of the character and I also find the Lizard more interesting, but still I don't consider it a bad bad; probably it will be because I love the whole host of Batman villains
Thank you! I actually do enjoy Man-Bat (when he is used well) despite not being one of my favorite Batman villains and in my opinion Batman’s rogues gallery is the best! It’s why I decided to give them special treatment and do all the ones I had fitting songs for together.

@@hydranoid2009 A little bit. Although don’t get me wrong, I do still like him despite me preferring Lizard and it would be cool to see him in a live-action Batman movie one day.

I agree with no the actual Man Bat monster is…………………………….not that developed I´d say, I mean at least with most other people that turn into giant monsters have some interesting parts of their personality, mostly a jeckyl and hyde theme though, that makes the monster eighter seem already completely evil or (and while I just said not to compare him to Lizard) the monster is just a creature that wants to be free on it´s own. ;an Bat as a creature though is just a giant mindless bat in some versions and I think that´s Man Bat´s biggest problem. It really only works as a onesho or only two appearence character. I mean every Man Bat storie I read was mostly, guy get´s transformed into Bat creature, he fightes Batman, get´s cured end. That´s why I think Langstroom from tas is the most interesting the character has ever gone. Yeah he get´s cured after the first Episode as well, but at least he stayed around in some episodes and helps Batman on acation. Heck with how most Man Bat stories are I actually miss the mad scientist who turns people into giant bat hybrids from the New 52.Sorry man, I wanted to finish the D.A.V.E tribute last weekend, but I had some more excames and couldn´t get to it, I´ll promise you that I´ll upload it today or tomorrow.
One way to use Man-Bat for more appearances is to have him be forced by another villain to work for them. If he ever appears in a live action movie I feel like that’s the only way to go, to have Scarecrow or Hugo Strange turn Kirk into Man-Bat and be their mind-controlled henchman, he wouldn’t work by himself in a movie anyway. I agree that what they did with the TAS version of him after his debut was nice although I did find it weird that Man-Bat never returned although I enjoyed the She-Bat episode. Have you ever read Batman Beyond 2.0 Chapters 10-15? It sets up a unique fate for the TAS version of Man-Bat. And damn the New 52 version of him was like that? I haven’t read any of his New 52 stories but it sounds as bad as the New 52 version of Freeze. And it’s no problem, take your time with D.A.V.E. I myself don’t really have time to work on his tribute at the moment.
That would work, I haven´t really read anything from the Batman beyond Comics except the Scarecrow beyond storie. Well I remembere him turning the Gothamites in the Forever Evil event. His origin was in the Batman the Dark Knight Comics, the same that had Cycle of Violence and Captive Audience and Full House. Well I only really have the time now after finishing all of the exams before Christmas, maybe I´ll finish D.A.V.E tomorrow, who knows, I do want to do one final b-list rouge before COPPA. I hope you´ll finish you´re work before Christmas as well, if you celebrate it that is.
