- [4K] Escape from Pompeii is a semi- dark water flume ride at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Virginia.
Tour of ancient ruins flume experience with plenty of fire special effects. It's kind of reminds us of former Backdraft show at Universal Studios Hollywood with all those cool fire effects.
Ride video is filmed with permission from Busch Gardens Willamsburg, Virginia. Gopro has to be secured tightly onto the wrist or a chest harness and must be approved by park management.

Such a cool concept for a ride. Loved this when I was there in the 90's. Only wish it was longer.
I don't know why everyone's complaining, usually these rides don't have any themeing at all and this one has probably the best fire effects on a ride I've seen
Probably the worst ride in the park. Always feels like its closed or only one boat going during peak season.

Fast Forward Videos BGW is not a “cheap theme park”. They have consistently gotten awards for best landscaped and best looking park and is really well themed for its budget, including rides with great stories, sets and lighting and also really nice looking themed areas. You’re not gonna get much more themed besides Disney and Universal. You think this is a cheap theme park look at Six Flags parks, where almost all of the rides have no story and the “themed ones” are just Justice League Superhero names and a few cheap cutouts most of the time. Most of them have below average appearance and are borderline amusement parks.
This video showed more than the other one I saw, which was nice. I just wish they had added more to the ride. It's a great concept.

One of the shortest rides I have ever seen.
they had one in Tampa that was pretty much the same but they used part of the old Jungle Cruise wanna be ride instead of some Pompeii on fire something. it closed a few years ago, the whole thing is the drop, not very exciting.

I love this ride! Not sure why people call it boring, but trust me it’s a lot better in person and also the reason there’s not much before the drop is for worker safety, if you look on the left you can see a door that is a control room and evacuation route so there can’t be a lot there for safety
I remember going on this and freaking out about the fire, about a month later the ride caught on fire😟

How are you complaining that this is boring? It’s an absolute classic with actual theming unlike most of these flume rides which are just as long with no theming.
Try a new Theme Park. Pick a Disney Park or Universal Studios. Then compare.

Were you all there today? I was, would have been cool to see you! Pompeii wasn't working today when we went passed it. It use to be better when it was newer, a bit outdated now, but the drop and splash can still be exciting. Refreshing too on a hot day if you really get wet. Lol There is always the splash zone for none riders. Lol😜

All the scaffolding/metalwork ruins the ride and there being no pay off before the drop is pathetic.

The idea is that they were doing an excavation on the historic site. It is scenery. Not the best ride, but enjoyable in person.

I thought the outside looked amazing but that's it, the sign said warning earth tremors there was a beam that quietly broke the fires were good but there should have at least been more models of people running and maybe some screams? Not just some pirate's of the Caribbean rip off music, and the splash I'm glad you caught it on the first part of the video, as from the ride view, 100% let down.

Boring.
Let me explain. BGW is extremely cheap. I don’t mean the entry price. I mean they would spend as little money as possible on a ride and then advertise the heck out of it to increase gate attendance and sales. They are very cheap. This was when they were owned by Anheuser Busch. I don’t know if the company that bought them puts more money into their rides or not. But Anheuser Busch / Busch Entertainment division was so cheap. Look at their white water rapids. It is a joke. Pathetic low budget when they put it in the late 80’s. I heard the Park Director complain to his staff that people were leaving with money in their pocket still. So they had to do everything possible to sell cheap junk to guests before they left. He said we needed to churn the people more and get every dollar out of them. That told me everything I needed to know. Sure you are supposed to make money and be profitable. But can’t you actually make quality rides and not be so cheap?
It’s not cheap they are very expensive rides by 10$ million or higher and it’s been the most beautiful theme park for 32 years in a row and they still get awards for best theming and crap don’t complain about it
