Dak Prescott on his contract talks with the Cowboys: “’m focused on the moment, on the now. If the talks begin and the real talks get to happen, sure, we can talk about getting that done. But in this case right now, honestly I’m worried about getting better, being better more than I am at this moment. Leaving that up to my agent and Jerry at this point. When those talks begin, I’ll be more involved.’”
Cowboys rumors have long said Dak Prescott could be the highest-paid QB in NFL history. And that might be true in the end, but Dak says he’s not adamant about it: “I’m not trying to be the highest-paid, necessarily. We’ll wait until negotiations begin. Obviously, I want to put this team in the best situation.”

Troy Aikman, much like Cowboys Report host Tom Downey, doesn’t understand the Cowboys’ offseason plan: “I thought they would have done something with Dak already. I don’t know if they’re going to or what the game plan is.”

CeeDee Lamb has skipped voluntary workouts, but Dak isn’t worried about getting work in with his #1 WR: “I’ve been in communication with CeeDee. That’s there. We’ll get work in, whether it’s him getting into the facility. Maybe a deal gets done. If it doesn’t, I guarantee you we’ll still find a lot of time to make sure we’re putting in the work where we feel comfortable.”

For the thousandth time, fans look at situations like Elliot and Zack Martin and see no point in doing things early. Elliot had two years left on his contract, but he wanted more money. If the team had forced him to play on the contract , stay in Mexico and accumulate fines, or traded him, they could have gotten more resources with the money that they paid Elliot over those two years. Instead, the appeased Elliot. Many people saw the 2023 season as the year for the Cowboys to make a run. If Zack Martin had continued to play on his previous contract, maybe the Cowboys could have acquired another player somewhere and improved the team. Instead, Martin held out and the Cowboys appeased him. That took resources that could have gone somewhere else. Paying someone before the market rises is only going to work if ownership is willing to force the player to finish that contract as it was originally negotiated.
They don't spend when they have the money. But I agree that the Zeke contract was a mistake
Cowboys are a marketing company that's trying to play football 😂😂😂

There are soooooooooo many want/needs the cowboys have to fill, from possible new future QB and OL, WR, RB the list goes on.
With the cap hit for Dak this season what it is, he has a no trade clause and no incentive or reason to accept a trade. They are stuck with Dak right now regardless of the long term plans. They also can not just say, that they plan on moving on from him, that would kill the locker room for sure this season.

Look here! Kurt Warner story. What his journey showed to all of us is that destiny comes in many ways. Daks destiny is still reachable, and it is reachable as a Dallas Cowboys QB. Go Cowboys!
You could not have said it better
I have a theory on the “why” they have done virtually nothing in free agency. Stephen Jones, as you’ve correctly pointed out, wants to win the negotiation. He doesn’t want to pay Dak top dollar, so he’s going to leave him out on the plank. If Dak can’t get it done, Stephen will feel justified in letting Dak walk, which is what Stephen wants to do. He wants to punish Dak for his audacity, even if it hurts the franchise. He’s the poster-child for hubris.
Cowboys are going to tear things down and start over because they laid down in the playoffs.
The Cowboys have always been good at evaluating players and drafting players... They've stated several times they believe the guys needed are already on this roster and in the draft...And once drafting starts and end more free agents will be released from other teams, good players, for less money, so I don't understand why their receiving so much ridicule..Let's just wait and see...
We've been "wait and see" for 30 years. It clearly doesn't work. They need a big-time free agent to take us over the hump but they refuse to do that.
When they set themselves up to draft BPA they’re quite good at drafting. When they don’t set themselves up that way and draft for need you end up with last years draft class a run stuffer and blocking TE in the first 2 rounds! Better players on the board over Mazi and Schoonmaker.
DAK pads his stats to make up for the shit shows he puts up…..
Delusional eagles fans aka Dak haters ….
@@philliplucas946idk if u stay in dallas but go down there and ask around, cowboy fans are the ones saying it lol
Just remember this when the contract negotiations talk come up, Dak:
1. The last pick in the draft in 2022 was a qb, who makes less than a million
2. That same qb beat you already twice
3. That qb also is 4-2 in the playoffs
4. That qb has already appeared in a SB
5. That qb has been already to 2 NFC Championships
Don't you want a ring, Dak? Give up a little to surround you with players who can really help you.
That is all folks
Dak is a legend in his own mind! He’s either very delusional, very greedy, or both.
1. Dak made less than a million his first 4 years and they never surrounded him the talent SF has
2. This isn't tennis. QB's don't play against each other. They play against the other team's defense
3. Wins are a team stat
4. That team also appeared in a SB with Jimmy G.
5. That team went to multiple NFC Championships with Jimmy G
Maybe, just maybe, SF is a better run organization that has consistently assembled dominant offenses and defenses despite having replacement level QB's
Got to give Lance a Chance he has not failed anybody yet he is being Deprived of a chance to show his Potential
I think this should be Dak's last year with the Cowboys unless he performs exceptionally and helps to get them to at least the NFC Championship Game.
He always performs exceptionally. The nfc championship game with this team this year isn’t going to happen.
Hell yeah Dak
Tom, Tell us how you feel
Been a cowboys fan since before Super Bowl V. I’ll continue to get excited about the draft but a lot less excited about the season. The way the cowboys have addressed free agency. The contracts are normal for the NFL. Even Emmitt held out.
Dak says he’s focused on getting better. He’s been saying that for the last 7 years. His play just gets worse as his salary increases. Makes alot of sense! In his defense though, I have to say that he regressed hard since his rookie season. After having Jason Garrett as his coach and Wade Wilson as his QB coach, we can understand why. Who was the only one who didn’t see that Jason Garrett was a TERRIBLE coach……you guessed it, Jerry Jones and his stupid cheap sidekick.
What😂 lolololol he’s gotten better every year, from his form to his footwork to his tight window throws the dude has literally gotten better every single year and that’s hard to do. lol dilusional
@@jerridturner413he ain’t got better in the playoffs
Play is getting worse… ? He was an All pro and came 2nd in mvp votes? LMAOOO
@@robertavila9472 Yeah Dak is awesome! He really knows how to show up for those big games, against GOOD teams!
@@ralphmontemalo6378dak gave up 38 points you right 😂
whatever happens in the draft the Jones will just find a way to mess everything up again and again and again.
YESSSSS
cj stroud already has as many playoff wins as dak
😂😂😂😂😂
Just think about this…..Somewhere out there, there’s an 18 yr old high school quarterback that will someday make it to the NFL, and have more playoff wins than Dak! Lol
I just remember the end of the 1990’s Dallas dynasty as a team that continually regressed losing their support players to free agency while Irvin an Aikman retired from injuries and draft picks were a lot of misses and some terrible trades. Emmitt got traded after he breaks the NFL rushing record and then described being a diamond surrounded by doodoo as his end with the Cowboys. I don’t mind the Cowboys paying up for key players to keep a SuperBowl team together for a few more runs but there is a point where they start rebuilding with a new team of young hungry players and move on from paying maxed out contracts when the rest of the roster is a mess. The 90’s Cowboys renegotiated so many contracts and made bad decisions that it led to a bad period of Cowboys football in the 2000’s. Always being capped out with the salary cap and dead money that resulted in not being able to keep key players and sign free agents has hurt the Cowboys for a long time. Maybe they should try a new approach and trade valuable players now for as many draft picks as possible before overpaying them and start the rebuild now by building through the draft with a strong foundation for the future and hopefully less of a down period with an ability to fix their salary cap issues, start on a new exciting direction toward building a new Cowboys dynasty, and finding a new QB and other key players surrounded by a team filled with young elite talent and depth in the next 2 or 3 drafts.
Jerry doesn't want to rebuild because that would mean he was wrong about Dak and in Jerry's mind him being wrong is an impossibility. Lets say Dak was to go somewhere else and play Jerry would have a scowl on his face next off-season because he would have to rebuild around Trey Lance or a QB they draft. Mike McCarthy would be the one to convince Jerry look Dak can't do it let's move trey up or draft a arm cannon and rebuild from there Jerry trusts mikes input I believe he's getting an extension as well Jerry always wanted McCarthy now that he's got him he's not letting him go. One other thing Trey Lance his career is being wasted because he's not getting any field time. I'm worried the NFL may make a rule where in order for quarterbacks to make all this $$$$ they need a minimum number of reps during the season in games or they don't get $$$$
DAK says he wants to leave so we start waiving bye 👋
Noo
All of Dallas star players should find a way to stick it to Jerry cheap ssa and sign with other teams
Go Cowboys
At this point if they are going to rebuild I would just assume them rip the band aid off now. Trade Dak and Lamb both if you dont plan on signing Dak. No point in resigning Lamb. Blow that shit up and get us a Haul of picks both this year and in future years. We should be able to get a Franchise LT, Franchise RB, Franchise C and a #2 Rec a QB this year or you hold off and hand the keys to Lance and see what hes got or package picks and go get Daniels this year. Or hold on and package next year and go get Sanders and Hunter both. Kills me to say this but at this point you either sign Dak or you move him and get a good package in return. The worst thing they can do is let this play out if they have no intentions of re-signing and letting him walk and you get nothing for an All Pro QB in the Middle of his Prime.
If I could give them below an F I would
Yeah I would love for them to bring back Prescott but if they don't want him back just rebuild the team and trade him to another team and try to get much draft pick as you can and rebuild the whole team does completely rebuild the team
A. Cuz Jerry about to Houdini the he'll outta this draft😜
F - minus 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Disco Mike Wood from Philadelphia Cowboys 🤠 fan for Life! Grade F!
A if they don't extend Prescott unless he takes them to SB
Dak was in the TOP 3 QB's last year.
And with Lamb, they were unstoppable!!! Cuz Lamb ended up being the #1 WR last year
Jerry does nothing before the draft never has never will stop expecting something different
That because cowboys nation is pissed off at the cowboys ATM
5
F! F! F! The Joneses strike again
Starts with get a real GM
That won't happen until JJ either sells the team or dies ☹️
If Prescott will agree to a trade what can Dallas get for him?
You cant get a one legged punter for Dak with his current salary
I am sick of the Jones and all of their nonsense I'm just about to stop having a football team I'm just about done with the cowboys I've been a cowboy's fan for over 50 years and I have never seen anything like this we need new owners
no tom the pauses wasn’t dak, it was you stuttering. Don’t lie bout it tho
😂
A if they let Dak walk.
Fans who don't watch football often say the dumbest things.
PROTEST IN FRONT OF THE STAR WHOS DOWN???
why in the hell would they need to share anything with you?
Why would we pay Lamb or Micah when the qb search can last 5+ years? That’s a whole lot of wasted money. If you don’t pay Dak, don’t pay anyone
They better pay Dak, I'm not trying to watch a rebuild. Keep going at it with Dak, dudes a badass QB
@@codyp.3191 Yeah letting him go would literally be the biggest disappointment I’ve ever had with this team
@chasedyer5950 fr bro, this fucking "get rid of dak" talk is crazy. People don't want to see that hes been leading the cowboys to top 3 offenses every damn year, while having no actual run game, and an O Line that doesn't like to block on 3rd down
Finally a few people with common sense
@@codyp.3191 Why? Dak cannot win the big games. He is a 4th round draft pick and has shown great numbers against weak teams and in garbage time. Bye
Let Dak play out his contract and kick rocks , I’ve seen all I need to from him !!
HELL 2 THE NO... 8 SEASON ENOUGH SAME SHIT
No ! No ! No!
1
Dak yes
I would rather have 3 players that are good at 20 million than pay Dak 60 million
F absolutely an F.
Dak would be best served to take a lot less so that a winning team can be put around him. I don't see this happening as Dak is way too greedy!!! If he will allow it and you can trade him, do it NOW. What ever you do. do not give him the huge contract. You will just be prolonging the futility.
How'd that work out when Dak was making $750k a year? You people like to pretend the front office will suddenly change if Dak makes less. His cap hit hasn't been over $25 million till this year either. Again, what do you expect to change?
Dak needs to pack. Each year he is given a team with an enormous amount of talent, and every year it becomes the same sad story. He’ll throw for 400 yards in a blowout against a pathetic team like the Giants or Washington, but once the playoffs begin, he throws more interceptions than first downs for three and a half quarters with the team getting blown out before he inflates his numbers against the pass prevent defense. He needs to go because his salary has made it impossible for the team to bring in any talent and stay under the salary cap.
Exactly! 👍
Dak IS IT
Tom Downey, you nail it. The COWBOYS always wait till the last minute to do anything. The COWBOYS think they can just set the market and lowball anybody, it's about meeting the players halfway knowing they wants to paid, maybe it won't cost them in the long run.
Do you want Dak Prescott back as the Cowboys QB? Type ‘Y’ for Yes, ‘N’ for No
Y
N - finally of the realization it's time to move on from dak
NO!
y
If he'll take a major pay cut. If he goes the only thing we'll be missing is a 12-5 regular season record cause he's proven that he'll never get it done in the post season just like our defense
N. I think it's time we let go and start our rebuild around trey
Yes but not above $50M/year
.5????
“ he wants to be in Dallas” because no one will pay him the money that Jerry will… As stupid as Prescott is, he’s not
It’s just time to let him go. Even if we have to take a dead money cap it next year. He’s just never going to get us a Super Bowl championship. We are just wasting money on him.
Nah, he’s not even in the top 10 paid QBs in the league. You couldn’t find a better qb for what he’s being paid this season. He’ll probably play out his contract and break the bank as a free agent. There will be teams lining up to pay him.
So are 31 other teams Buddy
Also buddy you not getting any younger , you seem to forget how bad the Cowboys were between 1998 - 2005 ... You really teynna be the Panthers You ain't not real Cowboy Fan
This point of telling us this bs is what🤦🏾♂️🤷🏽♂️
That the problem with Dallas is Jerry Jones and not Dak. Wake up.
Y
No.....give Lance a chance
Bench the number 2 runner up in the MVP for this previous season for a guy who was traded for a 4th round pick and play someone who was benched for the guy who was drafted as the last draft pick in the draft??? You’re crazy lol. Also lance isn’t under contract so good luck.
Yo at this point does it EVEN matter...If Dallas was serious about winning Dak, Lamb, and Parsons would already have contracts and they would have kept Gilmore/Hankins/and Tyrone Smith until they had replacements..which they DO NOT... Without Will McClay (and Linehan drafting Dak!) this team would be ABSOLUTE garbage...I can't believe theyre not smart enough to resign their good players or make good trades. Its like theyre too lazy and cheap to even care.
The cowboys are rebuilding but for some reason you just don't get it.. Their non action is pretty much telling you that omg🤦♂️
"F"
I like Dak. I respect Dak. I think he’s a good qb.
With enough help, good enough to win a Super Bowl? Probably. But not while breaking the bank…or salary cap. If he won’t take less, I’d get rid of him.
If they let Dak go they are gonna regret it.......Truly
F!
outside of Mahomes, where has the other “top 5” Qbs done? Burrow was lucky to get to a superbowl and still played awful, Allens team plays better with him as a RB, Lamar plays average in the post season. I dont understand the Dak Hate. Is he the best QB in the league no of course not, but there are not 6 QBs completely better than him.
Y/N
Dak is the next man up. Why should he take less????????
Tom, please stop it with the Cowboys should move quickly with Dak. Over half of the fans DO NOT want him!!!! Stop it, please!
He is a problem in Dallas get rid of him Real soon too ......
I was really hoping they would trade Dak & Lamb.Out with the old ,in with the new. What we have Does Not Work if we want to get to the SB.Period, end of story !
Hell N
the cowboys may always be more popular the texans own texas😂
F-If they let Dak walk!
F their score is a 22
The cowboys are doing this because they just want a winning season.
D😢
Why do this happens every year? This team is cursed. It’s been cursed since the departure of Jimmy Johnson. Fans and media are hoping in ignorance.
Dallas needs to try to trade Prescott if they can get him to waive his no trade clause. It is much better to get draft picks for Dak instead of letting him leave and sallas gets nothing. The front office of jerry and Stephen Jones will be the biggest idiots if Prescott walks and they get no draft picks.
Get ready for it.
D
No trade him
The vibes are bad
F - Do something!
