Very nice Rachel! The lil town, western style, and of course the cowboys! I like the cinematic effect at 9:30. Hope you treated yourself to a cold drink after walking under that bright sun!
Thank you so much!! I really liked making this video. We definitely enjoyed a cold drink and a good dinner before we headed out for astro. What a great day.
Wow, what a lovely place.. I bet you will feel the difference after the heat when you get back to Canada... There were some lovely pix there Rachel... I'm looking forward to the astrophotography vlog... Enjoy the relaxation and the rest of the holiday.... xx
Hey Rachel, This video brought back lots of memories my Dad took me out to Pioneer town many times when I was like 10 years old... We would spend the day out together exploring Yucca Valley and climbing the boulders and just driving for miles and miles in his old 66 Ford pickup! Your last few videos are all from many places I was at as a kid. Looks like you are having fun there like I did. Great video.
Hi Rachel, bit different from your usual uploads but still very good. Really like the way you have made some of your images look much older. Really nice to watch , thanks for sharing......now where's the astro vlog? ☺
Sensory overload in hot tourist spot - real challenge, but monochromatic/split tone and sepia saved the day, Rachel Piano and feed bags my fave. Had to chuckle at the baby rattlers. I’ve encountered spinners many times and find some great images w/80mm lens or getting as close as possible to show hands working the machine, sometimes feet. Details and textures of antiques channel for macro.
Those are great ideas! I would enjoy trying them. The rattlers were funny. 😄. I really enjoyed taking pictures of the actors while they worked. It was really a lot of fun.
Now this really looked like a fun place to go :D Thank you for sharing some wonderful footage and images. I loved watching this video as much as you two must have loved being there :D Teddy
Looks really hot and dry there Rachel, I liked the shot with cactus and cart at the back. The only thing missing in the vlog which I would have loved to see would have been, : You and your cowgirl Partner riding through the town on horses at speed " shooting with cameras in both hands. HA! .
Thanks David! So actually the piano was already a brown colour but the background wasn’t. So I adjusted the background and then the overall tone. Maybe I applied a filter... but not at 100% opacity.
Hi Tom! Thank you! From Wikipedia “Actor Dick Curtis started up the town in 1946 as an 1880s themed live-in Old West living breathing motion-picture set. The town was designed to provide a place for production companies to enjoy while also using their businesses and homes in movies. Hundreds of Westerns and early television shows were filmed in Pioneertown, including The Cisco Kid and Edgar Buchanan's Judge Roy Bean.”
Thank you!! That’s so nice. Self taught and continually self teaching. I went to university for Urban Planning! And then later again to be a Librarian 😄
Ahhh come on you could have finished with a gun fight or in this case a camera fight....Nikon v Canon.....and then Sheriff Sony came along and shot the winner!

Interesting collection of saw marks on those buildings, they must have pulled in lumber and timbers from all over when they were building the town.
I didn’t notice... interesting!
Hi Rachel, bit different from your usual uploads but still very good. Really like the way you have made some of your images look much older. Really nice to watch , thanks for sharing......now where's the astro vlog? ☺

Oooh that would have been priceless Gary!!! 😄😄😄 I think we’ll have to go back and arrange that! 👍👍
Two best shots.....you in the pen and the other shot of the derelict keyboards!!! Sepia or toned B&W?
Thanks David! So actually the piano was already a brown colour but the background wasn’t. So I adjusted the background and then the overall tone. Maybe I applied a filter... but not at 100% opacity.

Like the B&W shots. What movie was it built for?
Hi Tom! Thank you! From Wikipedia “Actor Dick Curtis started up the town in 1946 as an 1880s themed live-in Old West living breathing motion-picture set. Enjoyed the video and pictures but where are the horses or mules and stable. In this town did they only ride goats. Who was your friend
Hey Roger! Thanks! There was a stable but I’m not sure if there were horses. Maybe? My friend is Kara, my travelling companion on this trip!
You make very enjoyable videos. Are you self taught or did you learn to do this in college or university?
