- Do you have a brad pusher? A cool little tool you didn't know that you needed. This tool is old, but could save you a lot of money if you don't want to buy a Brad nailer and air compressor. For a little tool it packs a punch on little projects around the house without breaking the bank. Sometimes using a hammer with dent the wood and leave head marks. Use it to install base board without a nail gun or hammer, or fix trim around the house. Hope you like the new voice over style. If you have't already check out my other videos, feel free. The RUclips algorithm finally gave me something useful. I was looking up a nail gun and it was gonna run me around $300 (Canadian). I just need it for small jobs like a loose baseboard. This is perfect. Thank you!
You just saved me about 400 for a somewhat small job (shiplap over fireplace) so many thanks.
I used one to secure baseboard trim behind a cast iron radiator. Perfect for that job. That was 20 years ago. The staff at Home Depot didn’t know what I was asking for. Eventually some old guy working there knew about it and found one in stock. A very handy little tool when the situation calls for it.
Thank you. I did not know these existed. I am getting one. It's perfect for what I need.
I knew I needed something to push those nails in but I didn't know what. Thank you.
I inherited one from my dad and didn’t know what it was. After googling the name on the handle ‘Cluthe 676’, I now know. Thank you for the video. Now I have to get some brads and find a use for them and it.
Pretty cool! I do need a Brad tool to fix up trimming around the house.
Brilliant!! Never heard of this tool before. Great Post boss.
Brads are also sold in regular boxes like nails. That's the way they all were before the collated brad nailer was invented.
My 92 year old father just gave me a brad pusher that belonged to his mother. She used it for framing her artwork. Now I know what else I can do with it! Thanks!
I literally thought I'd invented this idea a couple weeks ago, apparently I'm way behind the pack lol
I just bought the wrong nails (brad instead of hammer in finish nails). Then I saw this video and realised I can still use them. Thanks!
Thank you! Didn't want to spend 200 on an electric nailer for 12 brad nails. This looks perfect.
I've got one and they make life so much easier when it comes to securing quadrant around a door frame. Brilliant little tool.
Trivial? Totally solves my feeling of needing a nail gun (or two) for my untra low volume gluing applications. And gives me more time to think. (pin nailer or brad nailer?). Thanks!
This is great! I did not want to have to do like you said and buy an expensive nail gun or compressor just a nail and a few pieces of trim I have to do during my remodel. This tools exactly what I will need. I was trying to figure out how to nail something so small and delicate by hand (mind-blowingly easy to use)!
Interesting, these were mentioned on a set of model aircraft plans as I hadn't heard of them before. I'll think I'll use self tapping screws for this application.
I used a brad driver for the first time 30 years ago when I worked doing historic restoration carpentry. Best tool to have for installing grilles on custom windows. I haven’t seen one of these in a neighborhood hardware store since the mid ‘90s, though!
fixing the tongue and groove in my 1925 bungalow, they used tiny brads, you can barely detect them under the urethane. As I try to hammer in brads which doesn't work obviously, I started thinking "hey, these guys didn't have finishing nail guns back then that I'm aware of, how did they hammer these in?"
Definitely a handy tool to have instead of hauling out the nailer & compressor.
Awesome! I have been fraying to find a cheap and easy way to make some really simple trays! This will be perfect for me!! Thank you!
Glad I could help
I tried this over the weekend to replace some door casing. It worked pretty well. I was not successful with longer brads (1-1/4" and 1-1/2") but I had about a .750 batting average with 1" brads. It's difficult to use from awkward angles, but if you're patient, it's a good alternative to a nailer.
Thank you, That was very informative and helpful.
I gotta get me one of them there pad brushers
Thank u so much for this helpful video. I was looking air for a tool that could help me to nail quarter round molding which I had removed from my bathroom. I did not want to spend all that money for those fancy tools as I would not use it as often. This video has really helped me. Thank u once again!!!
Thanks for the video. My boyfriend thought I was giving him a load of crap, as the name of this tool is a funny one.
I think I need one.
maybe I got a dud but when I got this tool it did not work to get a brad nail in more that 1/16" into the wood. maybe its because it was plywood and to strong though
I'm going to get a brad pusher!
Thank you! Just what I was looking for.
i've not seen on eof them since we did woodwork at school in the early 80s
Awesome tip!!! I had no idea it even existed and I totally need one! Thank you👍 subscribed 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing this. I will give this a try rather than having to spend hundreds on a brad nailer and compressor / battery operated brad nailer. Those things are expensive. Thanks x
I need one! Ty for saving me money !!
Thanks. I need to replace a very short amount of baseboard and I was disheartened by having to find a nailgun just for this. I'm getting me one of these for sure.
Thank you for this!
My Goodness, thank you so much
Does Paslode still exist? It's a strip-nailer that uses refined gasoline and a battery powered sparkplug instead of compressed air to drive 18guage finish nails up to 2inches without need of a compressor or heavy batteries.
Thank the heavens for this content lol
Thank you 😊
you know you need it as soon as you try to use a hammer to pound in a brad, just doesn't work.
dude this is awesome thanks!
What should I do if the hollow tip comes off?
What a champ! Thank you!
Great video. I'm so going to get one now
that´s one tool I didn´t know I need and now I know I don´t need. because I have a special tool, actually like ten of them, that can do a lot of things including nailing a nail. or a brad as a matter of fact. it´s called a hammer, it costs roughly the same but like finding a second hand one for free or for a buck is incomparably easier. best part, you don´t need brads either, you can do the same job with nails. I lived in an illusion that brads are invented specifically in place of nails for nailguns. and nailguns are invented specifically in place of hammers to cut on time, not money. so if you don´t have money, why waste 10 bucks on a brad pusher if you can use the hammer you already got because you wanna have it for a million reasons anyways? it looks really smooth pushing it with one easy push but that´s some really soft and thin materials you drive them into. be a bit handy and you can do that with a hammer too. how about the whole length of the brad into a nice thick hardwood piece?
Thank you this helped so much
I need one!
Gotta get one!
Thank you 🙏🏼
Now I gotta go to the store and git one. 🤦
I just wondered what it was. 🤷
I do question the glue holding the brads together being double duty to glue the brad in place in the wood.
I just don't see that happening except for being oversized.
But maybe using a nail gun the friction created heats up the glue and thus holds it in place.
Yeah maybe🤷
They're more for keeping the brads together in a line so they are a ribbon can be easily inserted, but for sure, you never know - I don't believe the glue actually melts in either case, but you could heat it up slightly before inserting it with a heat gun, hair dryer, or even carefully using a lighter at a distance - the friction will come as the brad is forced into the wood regardless - as far as I understand the glue that holds the brads in a ribbon has a very small effect, if any in the end, that's why it's good to use some wood glue too if you're serious about what you're doing, but you might be on to something there, and when I get a chance I will go out and test it myself.
Let me know here if you do your own test, I think we'd all like to know if it it makes a difference or not, I don't have a brad pusher anymore, but it would be a good video where someone tests various methods - wood glue + nailgun, wood glue + bradpusher, no glue + nailgun, no glue + brad pusher.
I would expect the applications with wood glue plus brads to work together, but I am curious if the nailgun is more effective overall.
thank you my dude!!
Thank you so much for this!!
Can I use this with finishing nails?
Sure. They will be a little harder to push in but it should work.
Can you use this tool to push brads further in wood if a nail set doesn't work?
Yea, you could use it.
Just got one In a lot at a rummage sale and had no idea what it was?
Sounds like a good find 👍🏼
Probably a stupid question, but can you use pin nails with this?
No such thing as a stupid question. I wouldn't recommend using a pin now, as the tolerance of the sleeve size and the inner pushrod size isn't that great, the pin might get stuck between the two.
@@UIDIY thank you 😊
Wish I had seen this video before installing trim ..... a lot of heartache could have been mitigated.
Thank you
Can't find such tool in all online shops in my country
where did you get that from and I could definitely benefit from having one of those
+Joe basementwoodworking pretty sure I got mine from Amazon.
Is this actually a "brad pusher" or is it really a nailset?
I would consider a nail set to be a small punch used to recess the head of a nail into the wood. This tool is used to press (push) a small nail (brad) into the wood.
So I was about 5/6 of the way through my current job and my brad pusher snapped in half and I am furious. I have tried hammer about 6 nails into this thing and they all just bent
Okay wait. Does this work to REMOVE rhem
Thank you so so so much
You're welcome
AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Been spending weeks trying too figure out staples and Brads and guns...………….Never heard of this. Where do you get one?
I got mine on Amazon.
Aweeeeesommmmme thanx❤️
Great vid! I was sold so I bought one! I'm having trouble getting the brads to penetrate hardwoods, though. Any tips?
+rusty5050 quick, steady stab.
Haha! I need one! :) Thanks!
You're welcome. Glad you liked it.
Can you use a brad pusher to install floor moulding around the house?
If you mean 1/4 round then yes, you could
Harbor Freight has their 3 in 1 pneumatics for $19.99 or their universal nailer for $9.99.
They also have 5 gallon compressors for $35, which will run all day with these small guns. I haven't had any issues with mine for the past 3 years.
I actually did a video on why I don't like that nailer. ruclips.net/video/YOR8YgoH99I/видео.html
I am installing Alluminum soffits-vent covers. I need to Drive nails through the Alluminum, but the vent is almost against the wall which doesn't leave much space to hold nail and swing hammer. Can I use the brad pusher to hold brad nail in place and use a hammer to hit the brad-nailer handle to drive the brad with sufficient force to nail through the Alluminum?
+Newman Gardener you probably could do that.
I was the 1000th like
Ha ha exactly what I need
I think I had a neighbor named Brad Pusher
Good stuff
Just sold me. Buying one tomorrow. Lowe's thanks you.
You saved me 240$
I was just happy to buy a Milwaukee m18 fuel 18gs to build my home project until I saw this.
Going to be disappointed with that 18g nailer. I frequently use my nailer over the brad pusher for sure, but this is a cool option that might not want to spend that kind of money on a tool collection.
thanks man! cheers from brazil!
+Ciro M. seja bem-vindo
😎
Few people know what these are. The best one I have was my grand father's
Joe Pera talks you to sleep while explaining brad pushers
Great....but a v nail tool likes this?????? Exist???
