    Tough training but necessary, be it military or the Merchant Marine service. It is tough to see the dropouts..but you have to weed out potential weak links, hard to be sure but necessary. Some can take the physical hardships but not the psychological stress, not all can deal with both. Those who make it through the first few weeks usually make it the rest of the way and generally turn out to be good troops. Nothing worth while comes easy, as you know. Thanks Chief for another excellent and informative video!!! All the very best to you and yours.

    Outstanding Chief! and quite a breath of fresh air to see aspiring young men and women pridefully striving to better themselves physically, emotionally and mentally. And, what I find unique here that seems different than Than Basic Training in other military institutions is how discipline and appear to be applied in more of a communal fashion less the often severely oppressive and vindictive manner we see it applied in purely military training camps designed to breakdown resistance and compel obedience, that often results in a good degree of demoralization.
    What I see here that seems unique is a competitive fraternity where young men and women are compelled to excellence. When extreme demands are applied in a positive manner with the intent to streighten and mature those in their formative years without judgement, resentment or demoralizing depreciation, they are afforded the opportunity to grow not only in ability but compassion, conscience and a moral dedication to others and something much greater as a whole, and unless I am mistaken that seems to be something unique and important you have shown us, and which I expect you will convey even more in upcoming instalments.
    And perhaps, the understanding of the value and benefits of a 'Competition for Excellence' where only the best earn the honour to serve something greater is the most valuable message of many messages that will be imparted to new and prospective recruits by your work.
    I salute you and all those who rise to the calling👏

      Great insight Jack. At first glance a lot of people will cry abuse because of all the shouting and stuff. But the truth is, the upperclassmen are just doing their part. You can see by the end of the month, with the smiles on their faces that the seeds of brotherhood have started to sprout between the plebes and the seniors. They realized that the seniors made them stronger and that the adversities they went through was just the process to achieve that end result.
      Our institution follows the tradition of brotherhood. It may appear that we like to give our juniors a tough time but in truth, we are just helping them become the best versions of themselves. Which is why our graduates are still the dominant people in the maritime industry here in the Philippines.

      @@ChiefMAKOi Thanks Chef, I saw glimpses of that, such as the compassion in the eyes of (upperclassman or Chief?) Yala when he completed his tirade. I look forward with anticipation to the episodes where we can see brotherhood forming and the smiles sprouting.

    I applied for almost all of the maritime academies here in the Philippines. Luckily I was able to pass at least one academy and it is MAAP (Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific) I am looking forward to survive and pass in the Orientation and indoctrination period, perhaps in the next following months. Also I do look forward to excel in this field regardless on where academy I come from.

      Excuse me sir, how about muslim's to perform their prayer? Does totally one day is full packed with all these activity?

    • @AhmedGaber-dd4ck
      @AhmedGaber-dd4ck 3 года назад

      You asked a very good question. Actually muslims pray 5 times per day, but the prayer times are set across the day. Even if you couldn't pray on time , you can still pray in a window of time from the time of the current prayer to the time of the next one. Even if you missed the prayer time window, you can pray with the intention that you were held from prayer because of work that concerns life and property onboard.
      Islam is a very flexible religion despite what most think.
