Demanding that someone says Yes Ma'm, No Ma'am, Yes Sir, and No Sir is not respectful. Asking is absolutely fine, but demanding isn't. Respect is a two way street. >.> I wish teachers and principles would realize that. They would get so far with it.
I have several teachers in my school who understand that, and they are the most loved and popular teachers in the school the kids who don't like them are the ones who are really huge assholes...
Omgsh wow shes like "he said yea, but how about yes ma'am" like wtf..he said yeah ... this principal shoulda gave her a fucking suspension. I got lunch detention in 8th grade like at least once a week because I never did my math homework. I was not that mad because I didn’t have that many friends
Funny how my high school is not as harsh as my middle school. I literally do the bare minimum and I get an A and in middle school it would’ve been a B or C
Because he doesn’t mean it lmao. He just said it to placate that teacher lol. He also did it so they could both leave the poor guy alone, because he doesn’t wanna deal with this petty crap lmao.
Respect is earned, not demanded. At my old school, ll students were treated with a base amount of respect that was lowered or raised depending on their behavior. If you had a problem with a teacher that warranted talking with a superior, you were able to do so without any problem. If a student was accused of something, he was allowed to defend himself if he felt he didn't do anything wrong.
Yeah absolutely. But this was a reasonable encounter. He was not suspended. Both the principal and the coah seemed nice and respectful. It depends on the situation
For heaven's sake, he is a kid. Look at his face, he is still a baby. And he is having all this authority slammed over him which he does not understand. He is not treated this way at home, and does not expect to be treated this way at school. If some damn teacher were rude to me, I would be rude back.
Respect is earned, I hear so much. Well, guess what, when you are a teacher, principal, police, judge, warden, president, etc., you have earned respect already.
I guess that also goes for the S.S., the Gestapo and Putins henchmen. I have more respect for Walmart cashiers than for these poor excuses of the teaching profession. I bet you were a suck up then and probably still are.
When I was sick in middle school, it was always before the holidays started especially in 6th and 7th grades. In high school I rarely ever became sick with sinus infections. Eventually many years past on I rarely get sick of sinus infections or bronchitis. Last time I had bronchitis was in 2011 in my late 20s. When you're barely ever sick, it can certainly hit hard. This year at 37 years old I have dealt with stomach flu known as Norovirus.
In the South, it is considered disrespectful if you don't say ma'am or sir to an adult or an authority figure. It's just how we are raised. At my school, we have teachers who prefer that we use their first names, but even they insist we use ma'am and sir. Not saying "Yes ma'am" is about the equivalent of not saying please, thank you, or excuse me.
it's a form of punishment where students get sent in a room for the rest of the day or worst: days, you have to do all your work and don't communicate anyone inside ISS or in the outside world. I been through it before, it was a nightmare, I had no communication with anyone who's not in ISS (except for a few), and one of my friends was scared to death after the next day cause she had no idea what happened to me.
This teacher honestly sounds like another young teacher on a power trip, while the principle was strict but fair. I don't see how walking away could warrant a trip to the office, much less an outright suspension for a second offense.
Its amazing of Covid 19 has changed things. I was watching this video and noticed the kid coughing into his hand then the Principal shaking the same hand then the Principal shaking the gym teachers hand.
@MPS137 I liked the principal in Oklahoma City where you got one "get out of jail free card" although I suspect that didn't apply to flagrant offenses.
@DakotaY24 its a southern thing. we are all raised to say "Yes/No maam or yes/no sir" its a sign of respect towards adults or authority figures. by not saying it you are percieved to be disrespectful towards that person. its part or polite culture down here. different part of the country = different culture and mannerisms
What's wrong with yes. If ur not over 50 years old or my parent I'm not saying yes mam or yes sir. If ur not my parent u ain't shit. I say yes sir yes mam to old people because they been around long time and are wise. They deserve it. I'm 19 btw.
Damn that reminds me of school today: Substitute: Are you done with your assignment? Me: Yes Substitute: Its Yes ma'am i'm going to ask again are you done? Me: Yes ma'am Its fustrating for me because i'm not used to saying that and its expected from most teachers in the south.
It’s crazy how there’s no comments of him cough on his hand, then shaking hands with the principal. The time I’m writing this is the corona virus period.
Example about how say it practically: YES/NO Mr. Summers YES/NO Ms. Newcomb Does this make more sense to use an modernized form instead of saying No/Yes Sir or madam/mam all the time? Most people reshape how they can use it respectfully, and kindly. You can use mam or sir, but always know that alternative sayings can be used respectfully.
I say the teacher is right. If a police officer asks me a question, and I call him "homie" instead of "sir," that does not make me look good. If I'm answering the phone of a professional company, and I say "What's up?" instead of "How can I help you, ma'am?" I'm probably getting fired. It used to be common practice that everyone older than you was automatically "ma'am" or "sir." I support giving minors more freedom and leniency, but it's not going to hurt them to use polite phrases when appropriated.

at the beggining when they are sitting down and talking like at a lunch room my school is like that
What's wrong with yes. If ur not over 50 years old or my parent I'm not saying yes mam or yes sir. If ur not my parent u ain't shit. I say yes sir yes mam to old people because they been around long time and are wise. They deserve it. I'm 19 btw.

After the principal said "And we need to respect that." I would have been like, "Ok Mr.Toro, Can she respect that I want "Yes Sir!".
The boy should be ashamed of himself. That's no way to treat a teacher.
He shook his hand after he was coughing in it

that kind of rude coughing in front of people like that then shaking hands while he coughing gross lol.
