I dont think their story was sad. It was very happy since they spent more than 10 years together, loving each other. The way they chose to die is very pacific.
They found each other, managed to live together for 20 years in relative peace and happiness before choosing to end their life together. They were extremely lucky
You n I both… I felt Quentin & Elliot were just as sincere af in the Magicians. Then there’s that one Black Mirror episode… San Junipero? I feel all the above did wueerfolks justice - absolutely beautiful relationships where the gay is just a backdrop. Anyways… I’ve watched the episode like 10 times. I feel comfort innit
This is the happiest ending one could have in a world where the next day isnt something thats a guaranteed option. They had each other and love and thats something so beautifully captured here
A few things worth mentioning: since society collapsed in 2003, these two never got to see a world where gay marriage was legalized. "Paying attention to things is how we show love", Bill has obviously been planting those flowers all the way over where the shops Frank wanted to fix up are, just to show his love and attention for Frank on the odd visit to the shops. There are so many details in this episode that make your heart melt.
NGL, I almost ripped my tv off the wall and threw it through a window when I saw how it ended for them. I wanted to see more of them throughout the story.
Idk man, living in a cage just like the people in the qz sounds like hell either way. They found comfort in each other and that's ok, but the real lucky ones are those in Jackson.
Currently the best gay story in mainstream media. A masterclass of an episode from the acting, writing, and set pieces. Whoever the episode director was for this, fantastic work. As a gay man with more masculine qualities I often find myself underrepresented even in todays world. This story made me feel heard. Nice work team!
@@TheLeosMind it shows that there more to being a gay than being a snowflake, they went on with everyday life like any other person is why I loved it most and it was a story that touched the heart like especially when bill put enough in the bottle to kill an elephant, truly a masterpiece, Swanson is my favorite and he nailed this role there are a lot of men like bill and bottoms that never left the basement don’t see that 😂 but love so a beautiful thing
@@hardwirecars, you would definitely not be saying if this was a hetero couple. I’m not normally a fan of LGBT representation being overly pushed, but this part of the show was not overly pushed at all and is in my opinion one of the few times LGBT representation was done right in a show.
Amazing acting, I’m watching the show with the most minimal knowledge of the video game so I had no idea who these characters were & I could sense the chemistry as soon as he was leaving him clean clothes on the bed. What a beautiful thing to sprout from such devastating events.
This is the best LGBTQ love story so far i have ever seen and expect one day someonw will make story like this because it was not forceful the audiece to love the scene but it just show that love can be anything like family love, sibling love, love and hate and also like this one
Honestly as a straight man this is a good gay media not preaching not in your face it gets the point across and makes you feel for the characters ❤ well done
Honestly as a straight man I’ve never once ever felt like media with gay characters was “preaching in my face”. This isn’t a thing that’s happening, you don’t need to make up a fake scenario in order to justify this masterpiece. It stands on its own as a fucking tremendous love story
@hitthegoat that's either a lack of perception or your facilities either way sounds like a personal problem. It is a thing that happens. my gay friends and I have talked about it.
@hitthegoat I agree. line how every disney movie ever pretty much has had heterosexual kisses or straight characters. show one scene in one movie for literally two seconds of two females kissingand they scream youre rubbing it in their faces
Dying in the arms of your loved one, and go out together is the best death anyone could hope for. Not just for the apocaclypse, but best death ever, imo.
I have not watched the show but seen there story talked about and in all apocalypse movies and shows these two had the happiest and most peaceful ending.
I cried. I cried so damn hard when they died, it was so sweet and I honestly hadn't expected it at all, but at the same time I was hoping that was what was going to happen when they met. I honestly expected Bill to die in that one scene that he gets shot and was so surprised when he didn't, lol
The way Bill and Frank died together was so peaceful because that’s how much they loved each other it tugged at my heartstrings when Bill took care of him when he got sick
The only thing that changed was their outcome. While it isn’t explicitly stated in the game, it’s clear they were intimate in the past. Bill’s entire demeanor changed the minute he finds Frank hanging. You can hear it in his voice, and see that he’s holding back tears. He’s already not the type to have friends. Their fallout was brutal. He goes from really only caring about his own safety in the town, being very open about the fact Ellie and Joel’s safety is not his priority, to incredibly distant. Much more distant than one would react to a survival partner, rather losing the love of their life. Though it doesn’t seem like much, he does become more willing to help Joel and Ellie after the fact. Also, Ellie finds that dirty magazine full of men in Bill’s personal collection. That wasn’t haphazardly placed. Bill had it there for… reasons. Frank only wanted to leave the town because Bill had become so obsessive. He didn’t want to live in fear until it inevitably killed him. His initial hope was to also have Bill join him, but couldn’t convince him in the end, which caused the fallout. The only thing they changed was Frank getting sick, and the two choosing to take their life painlessly so neither has to live without the other.
If you dont know frank died because he said he didn’t want to live so he said to bill/guy that had the gun to poison his drink because he didn’t wanna die as a zombie so bill said no but he had to for his own good so after bill killed his self leaving a message for Ellie and Joel
It makes sense that they changed it from the game, to show more of that perspective which is harder to do in the games without loads of flashbacks which wouldn’t make any sense from Joel’s perspective
Hetero man here and I loved this episode. This is how it should be done. I cried for them at the end. I am however a little confused about the aging thing. They grew to be old men while the main character seems to not age at all. Am I missing something
