Thanks for a really informative, honest and clear review. You described the Spendor's midrange but you did not rank it against the other speakers. Two other areas you didn't rank are dynamics and detail resolution/transparency. Thanks.
Mid range is where spender is really good sweet and full. The higher mid where female voice lies is especially good, better then the rest I tried. I think detail wise, due to the smoother treble part, it does feel not ultra detailed. But that’s what I prefer . Dynamics I think about the same really as all the good ones
Excellent description with comparisons. Thank you so much for doing this. These are hard speakers to come by and test locally, so this helps. I’m hoping these might go well with a Luxman 505UXii. I didn’t catch what amp you are using. Thank you!
My friend, upgrade that amp. Those speakers will sing with something more resolving. I have them with a Rega elicit. Amazing. Thanks for posting decent, honest content.
Amps and their matching are really hard for speakers. At least when I was doing headfi I can just walk into the store to try with my setup and compare haha. To plunk down a few K and not able to AB will be tough since amp differences usually is subtle. Thinking also should I go with stereo or mono block Amps now haha
Thank you. Very informative. Excellent English too mate. I have Spendor s8e and love them, and these sound similar. They do have good dynamics, and drums and bass can sound great. The bass is organic. I wonder whether the A7 are any better? The look very similar and around the same size. I'd like a similar sounding speaker to the Spendor s8e with a tad more bass.
My guess is the S8e and A7 will have that same traditional Spendor sound. I've had the D7 and now the D7.2 which I love to bits, superb speakers, Spendor but with more pep, energetic, very revealing and dynamic, hence the D for dynamic series, accurate and true to the source, if bass is in the recording, you get it, if not so much you get whats there, they get to the heart of the recorded music, truthful and sure can boogie, I love 'em!
A7 is (and sounds) great. Here's the thing: I found a mint condition used Spendor s8e (2008) for 1/4th of the price of the A7 (!). An amazing speaker. Fair, the A7 looks better...
Hi! Thanks for the review! Have you listened to ProAc DT-8 speakers. I have them temporarily now, but it seems to me that the mids are a little unclear, so this week I also planned to listen to Spendor A7 and choose which ones to keep)
What Is the quality of the cross over parts AND the drivers in the A7 ? I believe that parts quality is the big question in speakers and that best quality is definitely worth it ---- but very good cross over parts can be many hundreds.
Thanks for detailed insights on the Spendors. I am looking to replace my B&W CM8S2. Prefer compact floorstanders that can be placed less than a feet from rear wall. The speakers will be partnered with Yamaha RN2000A. Genre of music are largely vocals, orchestral pieces and some rock.. Streaming only. Do you think the A7 is suitable? I am also considering Kef R5 Meta.. or any if you can recommend. Hope not to spend above S$8K. Tks.
They are quite different. The rubicon is more focused especially the vocals (you need to sit at a proper position) and have a more brighter signature. The A7 had a sweater mids, smoother sound. I prefer the A7 more as such I got it haha
I have these speakers and absolutely love them! Tested loads of speakers and these were the ones for me!
Did you test fyne audio?
@@lifeevent88 yes…
@@NottsModeller what are you using in terms of amp/pre for your Spendor? Thank you!
@@cpg8000 a Naim Atom at the mo but upgrading soon to a Naim 250 I think.
What is your room size, please?
This is a great review. Very helpful - thank you.

The wood finishing looks good.

I have Spendor A7 and Luxman l-505uxii. it's a good combination
Have you tried the Arendal 1723 Tower and the KLH5 ?

I never got to hear a proAc before. Maybe I go audition one soon

I seen someone take this apart before. Not sure really on the quality. You can probably find in RUclips

Vocals and orchestra piece, this speaker will sound great.
Hi, may I know your room size?
Are they like Harbeth speakers?
My room size with the speaker is maybe 16-20m3
They are quite similar in looks but sound wise I’m not sure. Didn’t get to try one at my area.
Nice speaker!
I love them!
Nice review bro
Thanks
Have you tried any kef speaker like the r series and the ls active speaker
I tried before the cheaper ones. The expensive ones retailer are not in the same building so didn’t get to test yet.
Good choice.
Rubicon 6 Vs A7 is an interesting match.... I'm thinking about the A7 also

better than dali rubicon 6?
For me yes. It sounds more balance and really way better in the vocal region
Dali Rubicon 6 are better by your description :)
This is a typical overpriced British product.
Shhh, stop talking nobody cares play them.
Abit like pmc i can imagine
Pmc was one of the brand I didn’t try as they were in some far corner away from all the other distributors haha
