- (OSRS) Today I was lucky enough to be the first person to test out the new Volatile Nightmare Staff that was just released on Oldschool Runescape! This new Old school Runescape staff is the new best magic weapon in the entire game. I was able to PK absolutely everyone I encountered in PvP on OSRS.

This weapon is funny for the first couple days, but it could ruin low level pk'ing if it becomes affordable
You mean like the dbolt - gmaul meta that can hit over 80 damage at his combat level? Basically every setup you can think of 1 shots pures at that bracket. Gmaul maxes 84, dbow axe maxes 78, and the new staff maxes 67 or so - but must be unskulled with occult (unless you like getting smited for 2b).

@@Bashavzs Ah yes, the low accuracy of gmauls against 1 defence pures. Yes the staff is more accurate, assuming the other player has low magic level but if they have 80 magic like the guy with the staff then gmaul is likely more accurate.

This is going to be like pre-EoC, where everything is overpowered, but the combat triangle goes Mage > melee > range < mage, where magic is king and melee is second, then range is lowest. If this power creep keeps up we'll need another massive Combat update, or we'll need armor buffs like damage absorption to come back to combat these new weapons that keep getting stronger.

this reminds me of my lvl 58 heavy ballista account back in the day. could hit 62 with ballista spec and full void. i think the account is still possible to make but itd be difficult. this staff looks sick as fuc though nice vid.

I hope the only thing the nerf does is make a much higher hp req because it’s so balanced for mains or meds even maxed zerks and pures but it’s just sooooooo op on the low level pures

I mean I dont see why they would nerf it, its about time a magic weapon got a chance at insane kill potential. Melee has an AGS, Range has the Heavy Ballista, now Mage has the Volatile Staff. I dont see a reason it needs a nerf.
