- AAA games are not to be trusted anymore. Furry simulator only. Redfall is an FPS open world game that recently released to terrible reviews, with people calling it one of the worst games of 2023 - so I investigated.

I'm assuming that the "burst fire doesn't fire in bursts unless you hold it." Mean if you release the trigger mid burst it stops. That may not actually be a bug, because burst fire in real life is just automatic fire with a ratchet that limits how many times the gun goes off. Games often get it wrong and the burst guns essentially are run-aways when you tap the trigger. Other quirks about burst fire is not all burst ratchets are the same; the biggest difference being some ratchets don't reset when you stop mid burst. Say you fire two and release the trigger, you then go to fire a again, then shot 3 fires, then both the sear and ratchet reset. Then you fire one, your next pull is limited to 2. Where as some other ratchets always reset when the sear engaged so you always have the potential for 3 shots, so long as your magazine has ammo.
Tldr: burst mode may actually be trying to be more accurate to actual burst fire
Games have degraded so much, and the price tag keeps growing
That's because it takes thousands of people and millions of dollars to make a single game. Games can no longer be coded in a garage over the weekend by a single person. Prices have remained stagnant for years, it was bound to happen as people don't work for free and studios have to turn a profit to stay in business. Games are amazing, if I would have had today's games as a kid my mind would have been blown. Another good thing is they can be patched, back in the days when a game launched and it had issues that was it.
@@deepblue8143 Of course games can be coded in garage by single person. There are independent devs who actually care, put their souls into their games, sell their masterpieces for $10-$20 and we have a good time.

Support indie devs! I like to see AAA studios slowly dying anyway. They get what they deserve. And watching Redfall reviews and some other high quality games' reviews are pure entertainment... keep them coming!

@@deepblue8143 Apparently, you forgot indie devs exist. Good AAA games still exist but stuff like Redfall is appalling. There have been games made by one person that have more polish than Arkane's trainwreck of a game release.
@AdamPajor I didn't forget, I just don't care. There is not one indi game that is as engaging as these tripple A releases. Some of them are good sure but aren't on the level of a Starfield, Cyberpunk, GTA or RDR. My point stands. Gone are the days of mainstream games being developed by one person in a garage only to be released and in shelves in 6 months. It's incredible and not in a good way how long development takes.
Games are essentially released at full price in a pre alpha state, and I wait to buy them on sale when they are playable
This should’ve been an October release to maximize on the spooky season feelings. That should’ve also given them ample time to fix these glaring issues.
I dont know how games were developed back in the days, like halo 3 and halo reach for example but i could assume they had basicly finnished their game before giving out a release date so that they could use the remaining time for trailers and polishing of the game, also beta gameplay
That was before the developers were pretty much directly beholden to their shareholders.
Back before the 6th generation of games, games basically HAD to be complete on release, because there was no way to update them
It's actually a huge loss that releasing unfinished games has become the norm. It didn't use to be like this

Every single game released has had bugs. Some game breaking. Some minor. Ever heard of kill screens? You know, in arcades?
Stop acting like this is some new shit because of greed. Games cost hundred of millions to make if it is triple A. It, outside of movies, is probably the largest investment one can make for entertainment. And game development takes years. Which means hundreds of millions out and zero revenue in. Unless you are Star Citizen.
At some point the game must be released or the company goes bankrupt. The shareholders leave. The top talent exits. And even if the game runs flawlessly, that still doesn't mean anyone will want to play it.

I don't think you get the deeper issues underpinning this. These AAA games with millions of dollars are STILL relying on insane work crunches and rushed production schedules to get half finished products out
The game industry runs on a churning wheel of talent being burned out and while the 90s and 00s weren't GREAT, the smaller studios gave more power to the creatives
The games being half done are a product of that, where the suits are pushing them out the door knowing that the development team will take the fall if the game ends up failing
The industry is objectively getting worse, especially at the bigger companies. It sucks but it's happening

And while I pointed out multiple games that had issues, glitches, and kill screens the crashed the game, I will explain a little bit more.
Bugs, glitches, and crashes result from bad code. The more code you have, the more likely there will be bugs. The more complex the game is, the more code that is needed.
So comparing Redfall to Halo 1 (which also had bugs, glitches, hacks, and crashing issues) is ignorant. Redwall requires significantly more lines of code to run.
Yeah, Super Mario 64 had great graphics for the time period. However the amount of code to get Super Mario to work and have the graphics it does, is trivial when compared to nearly every single game released in the last decade or so.
Look at how much memory was required to store Super Mario 64. Now look at the file size of a triple A game. See the difference? Huge isn't it?
No, the suits won't walk away scott free if a game fails. Clearly you do not understand how businesses work or how to run a company. If a company does not make a profit, or generate a great deal of revenue, CEOs get fired. The suits get fired. No company will keep employees that oversee failed projects for any length of time.
It is in the companies best interest to release a good product. Not a single company says 'hey, let's make a game that everyone will hate, has horrible bugs and glitches, that costs us 100 million to produce."
Yes CEOs and developers make mistakes, rush products, and screw up. Same as any other business. But if you subscribe to the idea that the suits are just greedy and want to get as much profit as possible, then every single person in that company will do their best to make a game that is good, one that people enjoy playing, and will keep playing. Because that makes them the most money.
Please educate yourself on modern game development, requirements, costs, resources needed, and build time. It will keep you from saving stupid shit.
They are just trying to F you. The only way to stop such a thing is to let money talk.
But sadly many people just consume and dont care. I mean we are at the point where it is normal to have a 80% complete game relase for full price. And everybody seems to be happy and praise it if a patch pushes it to 90%.
Thats not how it should be. They try to F you as hard as they can anf if they get away with it they try it harder next time.
I owned Kerbal Spaceprogram 2 for 110 minutes. It was awfull.
They released this and didn't take their time and make Dishonored 3 or prey 2
While creatives need to be managed (things they are prone to, false starts, feature creep, getting lost in technical virtue, and many many more) the power that the 'suits' have is too much and they lack understanding of the process/work involved. They just want their money back several times over. Too many games have been damaged by this.
I've been playing Redfall on the gamepass (I'm no madman paying for this game.) and I can say there is some good in there but with how AAA studios work it's Anthem all over again, a good premise by a good studio that was rushed out the door and because they are a AAA studio they aren't given any chance to patch up the game to be an awesome game before or after launch.
When i say this is like an Anthem problem, it will need what Bioware was working on for many months before being forced onto another project level of work. Basically changing most of the significant systems of the game to bring it more inline with what was the idea.
The open world being empty is kind of nice in a weird way with Redfall but that is not because the world is enjoyable but more the AI is annoying and can be ultra cheap, I'm talking head glitching AI with what feels like 100% accuracy with sniper rifles. The vampires are weaker than the humans and can one shot the underbosses (the UV gun is OP). The legendary guns mostly suck and feel weaker than basic purple guns.
With this though my enthusiasm for Starfield another bethesda title that is supposed to be coming out this year has diminished greatly as I can't put my faith in them to not make a space game with lots of worlds absolutely empty, and I'm talking No Man Sky but without the passionate devs level of empty.
how the hell did THIS take 4 years to create??????? the whole gameplay loop is to run to place, kill some npcs (very few), then grab thing and run back to safehouse. did they have a whole team of first year developers create this?
also, i swear theres one group of people writing all tv, movies, and video game stories and dialogue. its all generic and cringe and along the same lines.
This games doesn't even look like a AAA title... more like a low budget early access AA game. It's really weird to see some assets are not even scaled properly. What the hell were they doing? It looks like a really low effort scam to be honest. From Arkane it's unbelievable.
im willing to bet this game was made with a team of people that had little to no experience and they just gave them chatgpt to deal with it.
The sad thing I’m on new console and am having none of these problems except for vamps being there but aren’t actually there and it’s rare restart your game and it fixes it self 😂

Watching all the bugs your having, I've barely had any of these happen. The vampire not being damged has happened once and the game has dashboarded me a few times, but that us all I've come into and I have almost 24 hrs played and quite enjoy the game

Same here. Yes, it's obvious the game wasn't quite finished but so far game is bug free for me. Seems like for views some of these reviewers are bandwagon some these bugs. The new Jedi game had a lot more bugs yet you don't see every channel trashing that game.
Agree 20 hours in love it and I’ve had no bugs the only issue is the frame drops

Actually Star Wars Jedi Survivor was fine on my PS5. I know the PC version had a lot of issues, but the game is good. At the very least it should be an easy patch fix on PC, but this game...oh boy I don't even know if patches can save it.

Honestly what bothers me the most is the top people at Arkane are being very quiet while letting the artist and other devs take the heat on Twitter
Me and my brother played on game pass and loled at its immense trashiness but when we got to the final mission,after a whopping 8 hours,the game refused to load us both in,either we would both get stuck on a loading screen or one of us would load in while the other got the infinite load screen
I have seen several streamers played this live for hours without any issues. I've heard people ragging on it, but haven't actually seen any bad gameplay. Take a look at Brian Menard streams. He usually does about 3 - 4hrs. I didn't see him have any problems except for a few times he said he had frame drops. I haven't played it, but was going to download this weekend through game pass to play with my daughters. If it really is a crappy game for some I hope it improves or they get a refund.
It looks boring to me. Never cared about the fps that much as it always gets fixed, besides the annoyance of the current generation of games always coming out unfinished and unoptimized. Jedi survivor looks alright.

I played it on Gamepass and it felt really empty and uninspired to me despite not seeing any glitches or big bugs. also the camera felt really off with a controller.
I haven't seen anyone playing Jedi although it is on my list to watch, so I can't speak on it. I will say the consensus of everyone that I've seen play Red fall agrees that the price is way too high for the game. Happy I can try it out on game pass first.

I’ll never understand why dual console/PC games don’t have adjustable settings when the game ships. Sure, have a “standard” performance for the game to run on if you just want to jump straight into the game. But games like Redfall absolutely need customizable settings from desired frame rate, anti-aliasing, Ray tracing, control settings, performance modes, etc.
Having that alone to play the game how you desire would alleviate a lot of this games problems aside from the numerous bugs, which seem to stem from the games controls is what I notice.
And since this is a looter shooter style game, Arcane could’ve and should’ve implemented customizable controls and settings at launch.
I can't even play it, they want you to log in but they wouldnt let me reset my password, so i unistalled it and dont plan on reinstalling

Because it's a broken mess, especially on PC... and on consoles, in performance mode, what would you expect? Stable 60 fps? You get 40-50 instead... sometimes 60. Unacceptable. The game itself is great so it's a shame they didn't care about optimization much.
The vampires and other bad guys aren't that much of a threat. Plus there's way too many guns and other loot in that game.
I didnt buy it but my son and I were playing for about 7 hours. We couldnt pick up some items for mission progression.... I decided to restart the game and I lost everything even as the host. So yeah I'm good on this game now.
Why does everyone say "FREE ON GAMEPASS"? Gamepass is not free it is $10 dollars a month alone or $15 a month with XBL.

The launch without 60 fps is a dumb move. Especially how it's been delayed already... And it's kinda janky. However all that crap can be patched.
The real killer for this game is the co op... It's fucking shit.. I won't ask a friend to help me out and they get fuck all from it... That's the main problem for me
Atleast now we know that Arkane is just a name now, since the part that left was the competent part. And the part that stayed is the I need money so I survive everyday life kind.

I've pretty much given up on the video game industry at this point. I know there are great games out there but then you have Cyberpunk, Dying Light 2, Jedi Survivor (which I had refunded) and Redfall. So its basically Early Access games that you have no idea what the finished product will be or when it will be a finished product. Or you pay 60-70 bucks for a supposed Triple A game that you are essentially paying to be a beta tester for. I've reached the point where I won't buy anything day one anymore, no more pre-orders, 3-6 months later minimum for me from now on.

The reason why the games being released for Xbox/PC are so bad or mediocre is that they are not meant to be sold. They are meant to be rented out via Gamepass. Microsoft knows that you don't need quality games for a cheap subscription service. All you need is filler titles like Redfall that people play for a shortwile and then move on to another low quality title. Welcome to Netflix of gaming aka Gamepass.
I never really cared about red fall but I did try it with game pass just to see how truly terrible it is.

I think the biggest issue is the AI obviously, it's just way to easy. I do love the art vision they have, so for me if they fix the AI, boost the fps and add a bit more enemies through out the world it would be 10× better but I'm still having fun with it.
The ai gets harder the more you play, just it goes from walk in the park to hey what just one shot me lol. If you can tough it out get to stage 2 lol.
The gameplay for Survivor is 🔥 but it does run like ass in some areas

From what I've heard about it, it's also just a terrible game mechanically. Like the whole loot and perk system is supposed to be terrible and is not motivating at all. So there doesn't seem to be anything redeemable about this game.
What if Devs are purposely putting out awful games because they're tired of publishers setting ungoldy due dates and working them to death, so this is their cry of help and their way of trying to ruin the publishers reputation. Idk it's a pretty hot take but you never know

The only AAA games that came out actually finished was Like A Dragon Ishin, Resident Evil 4(Remake) and Dead Island 2. But Dead Island 2 has been in development for about 10 years or something
hlegacy was a pretty good release , i finish the main story the 1st weak and i didnt notice any bug on series S (and it had 3 performance modes) , now i am playing it a bit on m xbox one x and again feels pretty smooth. i dont think it had any major issues on pc or ps4/5 as well. kudos to them because even if it was totally trash ppl would still buy the game.

I'm one too bad mouth a game but star wars wasn't a complete mess. On PC yes but I brought mine on console (I do PC as well) and enjoyed every part of the game. Yes the PC port was awful (Us PC gamers are always second thoughts for developers hence why I got it on console) but it wasn't a complete joke of a release like redfall what is a by far the worst AAA for years!

Redfall would actually be good if the ai was smart, the buildings had more to them, there was actually real objectives that mean something, and the abilities actually had real impact. Also the world is boring af. Long story short they should just forget about the game it’s too much that needs fixing

This was personal, i didnt think it was that bad (for free) playing with friends is a blast
But just about anything with friends is fun. Only reason why my friends and I had fun playing redfall was due to us saying how horrible it is.

Jedi Survivor is a pretty damn good game. It just had a rocky launch.

I don't feel bad for any of these people that buy this game. It's $70 man and it just came out. You should expect glitches and bugs. I played on game pass. I have never once came across any of these issues. Yeah there's needs to be some tweaks here and there but honestly I think it's not that bad of a game

redfall is so bad it made people like star wars lol, and im done giving these devs a pass i wont be buying redfall now or in the future dont release unfinished games for 70 bucks just for people to play test it, if you wanna do that go the indy way and release the game for 20 bucks and update it. getting real old seems like all devs are ok with this now days and will keep happening if gamers keep blindly buying this crap
