This is a very funky song by Falco who was an Austrian singer & musician. It is about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This was a big hit even though it was in German. He had other hits such as "Der Kommissar", "Vienna Calling", "Jeanny", "The Sound Of Musik", "Coming Home (Jeanny Part II)", "Out Of The Dark".

It's about the Austrian classical music composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Falco describes him as a punk rocker in this song. A "rock star" of his time.

Wow! You impress me Lady African Girl. Not only did you correctly pronounce the name of the classic composer but you really got into the video, really enjoyed it. I've seen several videos of other - lesser - reactors who cannot properly pronounce the name of one of the greatest composers of our time. Then they get hung up on the video and the mixing of timelines in costumes and characters. Trying to see logic in the artistry of the video. It doesn't have to make sense, only entertain. And IMHO it most certainly does. I was 29 when this song dropped and have enjoyed it ever since. Thank you sweet lady for entertaining me with your reaction. Your accent is lovely and I hang onto your words, fixating on your enunciation. Wonderful.

I recommend to listen to Der Kommissar - love the bass along with his singing and song Jeanny is a masterpiece! "Wer hat verloren? Du dich, ich mich oder wir uns?!" which translates as Who (is) lost? You, I or us?! a sentence that points out to sad fate of girl Jeanny and song´s antagonist state of mind.

I've been a fan of this ever since it went to number one in the UK and US in 1986. Excellent track from Austria's most famous pop star. I really love the part starting at about 4:02, it sounds so mid-80s.

This song was inspired by the move Amadeus. Great movie that kind of is about (fictionalized) Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, you should watch it.

One of the best songs of the 80s in my opinion. So unusual and catchy at the same time.

I think that Falco was the first European singer who occupied the first place in the American charts in 1986. It was a German song, I think Falco was the first white rapper

Yes the English version went to number one in both the UK and USA. I remember it from the time, I was 7 years old. Really made a big impression in 1986.
