James Dean vs James Franco in Rebel (My Book&App "In Love With James Dean")

I thought what happened "behind this scene" was mostly an intelligent guess but apparently it isn't. Here is what Jim Back has to say: "James Dean kept the cast and crew waiting for one whole hour. Keeping an entire company waiting for an hour sent the production department in a panic. James Dean spent the hour...sitting in his darkened dressing room with a record player blasting out the "Ride of the Valkyrie," and drinking a quart of cheap red wine. When he felt ready, he stormed out, strode onto the set, did the scene, which was practically a seven minute monologue, in one take, so brilliantly, that even the hard-boiled crew cheered and applauded."

I've been a huge James Dean fan for 35 years, and despite the rave reviews James Franco received for his portrayal, I found the film, and his performance to be an overly dramatic, mythologizing, caricature of James Dean.
