I know everyone has done videos on a similar topic before, but it is usually through the perspective of chaos games, which is really cool, but not intuitive. I am hoping this project gives some intuition as to why a chaos game works.
I know, everyone has done videos on this and similar topics before, BUT it usually starts from the chaos game perspective, which is slightly less intuitive to me than the function system approach. Also, this is my first video back in a while, so please don't judge it too harshly!
This video will (hopefully) introduce a series on fractals, where we talk about some Hutchinson operator code, restricted chaos games, and fractal flames.
Glad to have you back!
@@swaree haha, glad to be back!
Yeah I've seen this from the chaos game perspective but this video was much more intuitive. It's easier to see how that iterative function created the sierpinski's triangle and from there I can sort of get why the chaos game would create it as well. Love your videos man
@@turevedin9968 Right, we'll actually delve into that further with the next videos in the series. Pretty excited!
Chaoscope has a really nice rendering algorithm for ifs and similar fractals. Would be nice to try implement that..
Great to have you back!
Great to be back!
Can we dive down some rabbit holes? Those flame-looking fractals look mega interesting!
Yup! That's the plan! I have 4 related videos on the list.
Dude you can't just mention Fractal Flames and bait me like that!
On a serious note; awesome seeing you back!
Where have you been? Why did you come back? It seems like you haven't posted anything for a year or so.
I know! I kept trying to make stuff in the last year, but I was in the middle of finishing my PhD and am now working as a postdoc at MIT. Kinda just ran out of time... That said, I am making this project a priority again!
Hey, this is pretty cool! This is my first time hearing about chaos games, altough i had heard about fractals before. Thanks for making the video :)
I'm glad you liked it! They will definitely appear in future videos! Lots to say about them!
Oh cool, I started rewatching some of these not too long ago, lol
I'm glad you are back man
I am glad to see you back!
Finally a new offering from Schlossboss!
I'll hopefully be getting more content out regularly on youtube.
@@LeiosLabs Quality not quantity, and don't feel forced to :)
He's alive?
He's alive!
Haha, I'll be making an update video soon to "explain my absense." Essentially, I got a PhD and am working at MIT now.
LeiosOS Congrats, will you be sharing your thesis?

@@LeiosLabs wait that's sick. Big moves!

You Can Make These With A Kaleidoscope Effect And Repeating It!
Who can dislike a video like this?
So far, 3 people. I'm glad everyone likes it so far!
I just subbed and this channel seems awesome! It's like a more concise 3blue1brown. It's also an older channel :O
Hope to see you pushregular content now, but at your own pace and not stress about it :)
Yeah, the goal of youtube is to be kinda like a more concise 3b1b, but with a focus on computer science. We can get away with this because we have more in-depth discussions on twitch and the algorithm archive.
Thanks for the sub! I hope future videos life up to your expectations!
@@LeiosLabs I honestly wouldn't mind longer videos because you know, the RUclips algorithm and all likes more watch time. But I'm not sure if everyone would like that. Hopefully you can think of ways to make RUclips sustainable on its own (maybe like a short+long vid on the same topic idk :p ). But hey I don't suggest stressing too much on the RUclips thing either.
Anyways I wish you all the best for the future!
@@notgeorge759 I am actually not sure how youtube fits into the whole ecosystem, exactly. I know it's great advertisement for everything else, but I don't know whether I want it to be a stand-alone thing.
Thanks! the accompanying website is awesome
fractal flames YES PLEASE!!!
I've already got the code for it, just need to write it up and make the vid.
it finally happened! you are a youtuber again!
It's been AGES since my last video. I have literally 10 just waiting to be made.
@@LeiosLabs 10 years worth of content! yes! btw, a friend of mine is using your video "what is an eigenvector?" to teach his undergraduate class in Spain. Do you get royalties from that?
@@mossylikescake No, unfortunately not. I don't get money from any videos made at OIST...
Leios video in quarantine, that's what I wanted!!
Are you making pancakes during quarantine? I hope so! Big fan of pancakes!
@@LeiosLabs You bet I am.. Even though supply is short
I need more
It will come more frequently than before!
@@LeiosLabs That is so nice! this just reminded me of how cellular automaton can also create these fractals and i love it :)
welcome back!!
Thanks! Making youtube a priority again!
The function approach is super intuitive. Thanks
Right? Chaos games are too random. Once you realize it's just a function system that attracts points towards a shape, it's way easier to follow!
Cool
Thanks, you too!
Wonderful! You are back!
Yeah. I am making youtube a priority again.
looking forward to more content :)
Looking forward to future comments!
Love it, thank you so much =)
No problem! Thanks for watching!
2020 is worstsort :(
Cool!
