Full Recipe:
Ingredients
-Rack of ribs
-Apple Pie Seasoning: www.psseasonin...
-SuckleBusters SPG: www.sucklebust...
-SuckleBusters Meat Candy: www.sucklebust...
-Honey BBQ Glaze and Finishing Sauce: www.sucklebust...
-Apple Butter
-Apple Preserves
-Butter
-Apple Juice
Instructions
Prep:
1. Remove the ribs from the packaging, trim, and remove membrane if youj choose.
2. Season the ribs per the video instructions, and allow the rub to set in for 15 minutes.
Cooking
1. Fill your hopper with apple pellets, and get your smoker to 250º F
2. Put the apple pie ribs on, and allow them to smoke for one hour.
3. After 1 hour, check the ribs to see if the top is dry. If the top of the ribs is dry, spritz with apple juice. Do not spritz until the rub is completely set or you'll wash your seasoning off. Repeat this process every hour as needed until it is time to wrap.
4. After 3 hours, or you have the color you want, it's time to wrap. Wrap the apple pie ribs with butter, apple butter, apple pie seasoning, and apple juice per the video instructions, and put the ribs back on the smoker at 250º to continue cooking.
5. After the ribs have been wrapped and are back on the smoker, check for tenderness after 1 hour, and cook until they are tender.
6. Once the ribs are tender, remove them from the wrap and put them back on the smoker. At this point you can hit them with a little more meat candy to bring the color back. Let the ribs dry out on the smoker and get their color back for 3-5 minutes.
7. After 3-5 minutes of drying out, sauce your ribs. The sauce is 2 parts SucklBusters Honey BBQ Glaze, 1 part apple preserves, and 1 tablespoon of apple pie rib. Heat the sauce until all the preserves are melted, and sauce the ribs. After saucing, allow the sauce to set on the ribs for 3-5 minutes. At this point you can drop the temp on your smoker to 225º to get one more blast of smoke on the ribs.
8. After the sauce has set, remove the ribs and let them cool for 10 minutes.
9. After the ribs have cooled, slice, eat, and enjoy these smoked apple pie ribs!

Looks amazing Darrin! Wish I'd get these from you in my next turn in box! I'm glad to see you explain how to get the color back post-wrap from the meat candy or the explanation up at Ace Hardware last month. Also, you're giving good explanations during the cook and time stamps to help the smoking community where most won't shy away from a rigid 3/2/1 with no deviation or spam "time & temp?!" in every FB group post. These tips work wonders for newer cooks and it's the fastest way to get people to like and subscribe!

Al from Eat More Vegans sent me over to your site because of Greece Pull Pork you do. I love the sounds of this Apple Pie Ribs and will make it. I like your site as it has a lot of cooks with more than just BBQ rubs.

Those ribs look delicious!! I have such a conflicting time doing ribs. Just when I think I have good approximate times figured out, I end up with fall off the bone on the next cook. I do everything pretty much the same, basically a 2-1-1/2. Only difference is I flip over the rack and leave it in the same foil, but make it into a boat, and brush on the bbq sauce and back in to set up for about 30 minutes. I leave all the juice inside the foil boat is what I'm thinking is my problem. My family loves them like that, but I don't like them falling apart. Lol. I'll have to try without the foil and juice at the end next time when tacking up the bbq sauce. Sorry for the long comment!

Those ribs looked amazing! When doing a similar recipe, I like to use an Apple Habanero pepper jelly with it. Get a little sweet heat. On another note, nice hoodie. I am from MN...so represent!

Those looked darn good Darin. I do something very similar but never used the Meat Candy, might have to give that a try. To get the apple to really pop, I use Apple from McCormick which is a granny smith type of apple flavor and use an apple cinnamon glaze from Triple 9 Swine. I get requests for those. Gonna give your way a try because can never have enough ways to cook a rib. Thanks!

Does anyone ever prod their rib racks with a fork to allow the seasonings to penetrate them? Or is that totally off the wall? I'm a newbie and just asking so do not bite my head off please.

I don’t think there’s a reason to do that. No sense is ripping up a good looking rack of ribs for a few pieces of seasoning to fall in. It’s a small cut compared to others, it’s well seasoned without all that in my opinion 👍🏼

I do not use a fork, instead I use a Jaccard Tenderizer and let me tell you, it makes a huge difference! They aren’t that expensive either so very much worth the investment.

Thought the sprits was going to be apple cider vinegar. Juice was a good idea tho keeping it sweet!

Hindsight, I wish I would’ve used 50/50 apple juice and ACV, a nice little pop of vinegar always pairs well with pork.

Do you still have the Lonestar grills pellet smoker? Just curious why you aren’t using that for this cook

• @AshKickinBBQ
@AshKickinBBQ  3 месяца назад +1

Absolutely I do. I’m doing some cooks on this RecTeq so I can give you guys a thorough review as to how it performs. None of my Lonestar products have gone anywhere, nor will they ever go anywhere. It’s my belief that Lonestar products are still the best around, and I’d argue the LSG pellet grill is the best horizontal style smoker in the world.
