- Sunday With Ola 137!!! Today is filled with stuff and NOT Black Tooth Grin drink because I missed that just as I recorded the Swola! BUT in todays swola we're talking about Mick Thomson of Slipknot going to ESP Guitars, Zakk Wylde in Guitar World, Panteras first US show, Anders Friden of In Flames are telling us to stand up against venue march cuts.
Also remember that Solar Guitar that was in a fire? Well I'm unboxing it in this episode. ALSO I'm trying out the JST Dino Cazares of Fear Factory Disruptor plugins!

Burnt guitar idea: Set it in clear resin and make a coffee table out of it for "Coffee with Ola" - its a conversation piece 🤘
I'm pretty much over all of the epoxy work out there (being a woodworker myself) but that guitar would make a sick table. Mix some flame coloured epoxy etc. It would be amazing.

Self bias resistor was the first 7 string song I ever learned. That was in the 90’s and I still love playing it.
Demanufacture was recorded using a 6 string tuned to B. Dino didn’t use a 7 string until the tour when he was using an Ibanez Universrse with and EMG

As soon as I seen the picture of the burnt guitar from a couple of weeks ago, I somehow knew you were gonna send the dude another guitar. You really didn't have to do that, but you're such a good human being. The dude and his girlfriend probably lost everything, and you sent him a guitar just because he was a customer. You're a legend, Ola.

TAD was killer. I found Infrared Ridinghood at a thrift store some years ago, and that CD got plenty of spins. Good stuff. Alternative with a rare HEAVY angle ( Being as Tad himself was a big heavy fella, why Cobain and Nirvana guys called their tour together "Heavier than Heaven".)

My introductory tracks were
TAD, Greasebox from their Inhaler album.
PAW, Jessie from their Dragline album.
Still frequently listening to both bands 30+ years later and both still hold up where many other 90's band don't so much.
Also good reference to Tad being instrumental in Nirvanas success.
Also Brothers of the Sonic Cloth, Tad's latest band.

I think it would be pretty damn cool to have the burnt guitar set in resin and wall mounted in a frame with back lighting
if you set it in resin, you could actually reach into the frame, pulling it out, and impress visitors by playing it (have a cord already plugged in and going into the display). Ibanez charges top dollar for their resin topped instruments...now I want to char a guitar just because it's gonna look awesome as an actual playable guitar. Throw some LEDs inside it so it lights up the burnt core.

Awesome Ola I am glad you accepted Johns offer to go on the camp. You shouldn't underestimate yourself I would absolutely book a Chug workshop with you. You produce some killer riffs dude and you're a decent guy hence why we support you. Also idea for that burnt guitar: Get it made into a coffee table for the office you could put it into and epoxy resin slab and it would make a sick table and obviously wouldn't smell or that anymore.

The Bass sounds $$$$ dope as hell! I couldn't hear its texture until plugging in headphones but very dark Rock/Metal sounds heavy, second riff was awesome too!
Love the tips for recording - 90s bands rock I've been on a 90s kick too, I love listening to artists that have a large range of musical influences because who they listen to always shows up when recording originals and it's the blend of influences that make for interesting original music - The Haunted Rocks!!!

Fire is weird. My band and I lost all of our shit in a house fire back in 2005. The other guitarist had an ESP V that we found after the fact that pretty much turned to dust in his hands. To this day, I still have a Dimebag Wah From Hell that survived the fire. Dunlop cleaned it out and replaced some of the internal parts but the exterior is still burnt. Wah From Hell indeed!

Just saw Pantera last night at Welcome to Rockville in Florida. Zakk killed it and the whole band sounds amazing. It was most high energy show I’ve ever been to. When you hear the songs live in Germany it will make you feel young again!

LUCIFER is a really good band, it's not death metal or even traditional heavy metal but it is heavily influenced by 70s bands and culture and they kick ass!

Oh wow! TAD. I didn’t know if anyone used to listen to them. I still have the original 8 Way Santa with the banned cover. How about the video of them running through the woods. Wood Goblin running around with a chainsaw chopping up beers 😂They had crushing riffs. So cool they got a mention.
The best dont always rise to the top huh? It's sad, but I think Tad's physique kept him and his band from reaching the heights that he and his band members deserve. That sucks, but its life.
Alternative sold the TIGER BEAT heartthrob thing as well as glam metal.
I was real excited about TAD and tried to get some friends into them, one friend said " sounds like Pantera, what's the big deal?".
I dont know where he was coming from aside from the music being heavy, that was the last time I tried to push Tad on my fellow music fans.

We used to get merch cuts back in 2009, definitely not a new thing at all. But now people are taking advantage of it
