Hey Brother! I finally saw the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and thought it was great. I was glad to see the map although I didn’t think much of it until I saw your review. I looked it up and of course there is now an official canon map, compared to the current United States. My job for you, is to use geography and theories and stuff to find out once and for all when the Hunger Games take place. It may be tricky but the entire fandom is counting on you. And may the odds be ever in your favor
Also, J's son Luke should sort because that would be so cute. And Luke loves Slytherin at the moment so it would be interesting if he tries to con the quiz.
Bay and Jen and the laughing fit that ensued is genuinely a highlight of 2024. I love that you all seem so comfortable with each other that you are able to laugh with each other instead of it turning into an awkward embarrassing moment. Here’s to a great 2024 with the Super Carlin Crew!
I think the only ethical way to have a love potion in a story would be if it worked less like Amortentia and more like Felix Felicis. You don't give it to someone to make them love you, you take it and become more open to love and gently guided towards someone or something that you're well suited for. Then you have to work on it yourself from there
I haven't watched this yet, but I do just wanna say Ben has always screamed Hufflepuff to me in the best way possible & I kinda hope thats where he lands. J is just pure slytherin, Ravenclaw. Feels like theres too much going on in the noggin not too be.
Ben has always screamed Hufflepuff to me too and it always feels like... he's a Hufflepuff who for some reason *desperately* doesn't want to be a Hufflepuff. 😂 It's the funniest thing to me. I wonder why he doesn't consider himself to be one, or rather why he really doesn't *want* to be one?
Bens statement about staring at a fire and how it scratches something for the ADHD brain... I have never thought about it that way and it explains so much for me!!! ❤
This video is the PERFECT blend of SCB and the Pop! It was so great to see the guys talking about all the personal stuff and still stay within the HP world. I feel like sometimes J thought the fans didn’t like/know him very well. We love you both! (is anyone else curious about what Ben had possession of that he took the fall for in HS??)
If I remember correctly, in high school, someone he went camping with brought libations without telling the group, they got stopped, and Ben took the fall even though, at the time, he didn't drink.
Same! Ben just really really doesn't want to be a Hufflepuff for some reason, but it's very obvious to.. from what I can tell, a lot of people, that he is, lol. I wonder why he doesn't want to embrace it?
People forget that Slytherins also value cunning and J is a cunning individual so I see the Slytherin but, I also see how he gets ravenclaw as well, I tend to agree about Ben though.
J got Ravenclaw which makes sense because he likes strategy, chess and is able to remember obscure facts for J Vs Ben. I think he's quite inventive in his own way. Ben is Hufflepuff. Hufflepuffs are such people pleasers like him and value kindness, loyalty, hard work, dedication, fairness. I would make the J and Ben are both Hufflepuffy because they hard work and dedication they put in to making these video despite everything they must go through sometimes. Plus, they have a loyalty to entertaining us.
I 100% agree that Ben is the most stereotypical Hufflepuff and J has some Ravenclaw but i can still see some Slytherin for him just on the basis of his dedication (ambition) to starting a RUclips channel. Strategy is also a mix of intelligence (ravenclaw) and cunning (slytherin).
My friend and I were recently talking about how different (and maybe better?) it would have been if the students were sorted based on values they lacked, instead of those they already embodied. School should be about growth. So, the students could have been sorted into the houses that would promote growth by rewarding them with house points when they exhibit the values of their houses. For example, the pureblood superemists in Slytherin could be placed in Hufflepuff to foster acceptance. That's kind of what happened with Neville, right? He grew into bravery over the years as it was reinforced.
They're not necessarily sorted by what they have but what they value. If it was just what they had, Hermione and Lilly would have been in ravenclaw, Wormtail would have been in sytherin, etc...
I'd buy that t-shirt/sticker: 2:11 I definitely think the pop has been affecting how people voted. Because it was how I was answering (in my head, since I'm not a Quizmaster) 12:47 Ben talking about ADHD loving to stare at a fire... as I (someone with ADHD) am staring at a candle flame. I feel seen. The coffee company ABSOLUTELY made me think you'd both drink the purple, chocolate drink Some of these questions are right from past Sorting videos so I already knew some of their answers... like J answered Violin last time. I also saw Lindsey Stirling in concert and she was AMAZING. 37:30 "Bay and Jen" cracked me up! The audience ranking Slytherin least for J but J constantly getting Slytherin himself tracks though because he missed matching the audience answer often. But I've always thought of J as a Ravenclaw next, so it still tracks.
I think everyone chose the chocolate drink because it's the only one that actually sounds pleasant to drink! Drinking crushed-up diamonds sounds like it would be incredibly bad for your insides, the glowing gold one sounds like molten metal, and the Slytherin option sounds like drinking crude oil.
My interpretation of love in question 4 is that it's a potion you take. So you become more charasmatic or are more drawn to people who are like you or even just a potion that lets you find your soulmate
See, the trouble with these quizzes is I feel like people answer the questions based not on their true feelings, but on what house they would LIKE to be. I'd love to see some variation of, like... double-blind quiz almost? Where the answer that you metagame is in fact indicative of a house based on the WAY in which you have metagamed it.
Honestly that's part of why I never cared for the pottermore quizzes. I like the "fan" made ones that use all the questions to determine, not just random questions from a list. It's still easy to select answers based on what you WANT but with more questions I feel it somehow balances out. Almost like it's harder with more questions to not end up answering arcuately. But I really would love a quiz where the answers aren't obvious what house it relates to.
I feel like that would require a person taking notes and then analyzing and scoring, which is essentially what the sorting hat does. And the problem with ambiguous questions is that interpretations determine why you would pick that. Like doesn't matter what the other descriptors are I would pick the chocolate drink every time because I adore chocolate, that has nothing to do with me being Hufflepuff.
I guess I'm weird because I'm someone who thinks a drum by itself can be pleasing. There are so many types of different drums that exist in the world, and watching someone who actually knows what they're doing can be really mesmerizing. 40:31 Some of these back and forths about what to pick are giving princess bride "but you would have known that I would see that you are a wordly man so I can clearly not choose the wine in front me" vibes
I'm a major hat stall. I tell everyone I'm Hufflepuff because that's what all the quizzes say, but I'm not loyal or a hard worker. If anything, I think I've got the logic of a Ravenclaw. Maybe I can live in the walls with the basilisk and have Fawkes claw its eyes out, then heal it. That would be nice.
You don't have to be all of the things that define Hufflepuff to be a Hufflepuff. Just like there are Gryffindors who aren't brave, there are plenty of Hufflepuffs who are probably lazy and stuff. I'm a lazy Hufflepuff!
well, Helga Huffelpuff does not only take people who are loyal and hard working. In one song by the talking hat it said that she took "all the rest" maybe you're just not good enough for the brave, the cunning or the intelligent ones. xD
once it got to the "Bay and Jen" i lost it as much as Kangaroo Kat, i could NOT control my laughter, and its extremely rare for me to laugh at a youtube video. it also reminded me of "gred and Feorge" LOL
I wonder if J identifies a lot with being a big brother because to me most of the answers people chose for him has such older sibling vibes (reminds me so much of my own older brother)
That laughing over the spoonerism is a great moment, lol. Those are such a weird phenomena - completely unintentional so you say it so naturally and confidently before realising what you said
Oh god yes, my ADHD brain absolutely loves fire too. I could stare at it for hours and it's incredibly satisfying when I can really get that chimney going
The Muggle confrontation one has always been one of my favorite prank ideas. People do incredible stage magic using illusions, but if I had some sort of magic/superpower, I'd use it to do "tricks" that no one can figure out, but are just on the edge of believability. Card tricks, levitation, teleportation, whatever, just something that could almost be done by some sort of sleight of hand or smoke and mirrors but because it's actually magic, people can never figure it out.

For those of us who remember the early episodes of Popcorn Culture, we know what instance Ben is referring to where he took the fall and we feel his pain. Stand up guy Ben!
Lindsey stirling comes to OR every year! I go see her everytime. You guys and Lindsey our like my favorite comfort content! Been watching you guys for a vary long time! ❤
Can we like sometimes call you guys Bey and Jen once in a while in the towel section? It sounds like a funny call back 😂😂 like whenever I want to disagree, I can go "no no Jen that isn't how it is supposed to be!" 😂😂
39:40 completely understandable that it would be difficult to deal with the knowledge that someone had thought of something dark, even if you know that's something they vehemently disagree with. Sometimes things pop into our heads despite any aversion or disagreement we have with them, and it makes you feel awful for having thought it. I once heard a saying that I like a lot - the first thought we have about a person or situation is what society has conditioned you to think; your second thought is what you truly think.
Yeah I feel like here in Ontario Canada where I live there's almost too much pressure on kids to graduate HS and go to college because if u don't come from a rich family u almost have to go to college right away since u're only eligible for OSAP (Which is the loan htat helps pay for college) for the first 5 years after graduating HS.
The thing about boredom is that it spurs you to do something, so if you are good at handling boredom then you are never bored because you are coming up with something to do.
What's wild is when they read the troll one, i saw the "volunteer to fight" as the kinda slytherin/"big headed rather than a self sacrifice or bravery thing. Like "yeah, obviously I'M gonna do it, I'll win"
Haha, about the Coca-Cola: when my oldest sister first saw Coca-Cola (she was with my parent at friends of theirs and they only had Coca-Cola as an appropriate drink for kids), she screamed: "I don’t want black lemonade". I’ve only ever heard this story be told (I’m younger than my sister), I wasn’t there, but that must have been so funny 😂...
without finishing the video, I've always seen J as Ravenclaw and Ben as Hufflepuff. they can claim Slytherin, but if anything Slytherclaw and Slytherpuff 😂
I haven't watched this yet, nor do I know how the sorting was done, but pre-viewing houses are: slytherin for J (I considered ravenclaw because he craves knowledge, but went with slytherin because I think he wants the knowledge for the sake of glory not just for the sake of having knowledge) and hufflepuff for Ben (I considered gryffindor but went with hufflepuff because while he has a sense of bravery and honor, I think those traits are more a part of his dedication to kindness and compassion rather than just being stand-alone traits). But at the end of the day, your choice does matter, and they both choose Slytherin. I'm happy to have them in my house. Helps to have people that don't fit the stereotype of "bad therefore slytherin" Edit: Finished the video. I'm happy with my predictions.
This was so much fun! I really enjoyed this. I also thought how cool that Ben's favorite number is 36. Add those numbers together and you get 9. 369 a very Tesla like number. Very interesting. But I can see where people would think of where J and Ben ended up would suit them. I read another post to have their wives, but Im adding Dad do this challenge.
My top 3 favourite instruments are harp, flute & piano. Also as a kid I played piano, recorder & fife. Unfortunately I don’t remember how to play any of them any more.
Everytime I got the question about what potions you'd want to make, I always interpreted it as "you're inventing a new potion that you yourself are going to drink", so for the love one, I figured it would be more like being lucky with meeting someone, or being super charismatic or something like that. I mean, I can still see plenty of messed up interpretations to that angle too, but it's not *as* immediately messed up as the concept of a love potion where you're trying to get someone else to drink it.

The reason we chose wisdom on the potion question for you guys is definitely because of the Quizmaster quizzes

This is like Hogwarts House "Rising"! Since your rising sign in astrology is how people perceive you
20:04 I play the violin and it is no where near effortless
the one question slide being wrong had me ROLLING
21:55 AGAIN JUST WATCH A DRUMLINE SHOWCASE. No wind or strings yet you could watch it for hours! And I do...
As a raging Gryffindor who wishes dearly to be a Hufflepuff, I understand.
20:23 jokes on them she’s actually watching 😂😂😂😂 that would be so cool
The thing about boredom is that it spurs you to do something, so if you are good at handling boredom then you are never bored because you are coming up with something to do.
I loveeee that the majority of us viewers are Ravenclaws! Finally some house pride and representation 🤘🏻💙
More water so we can see the ducks float please 😊
What's wild is when they read the troll one, i saw the "volunteer to fight" as the kinda slytherin/"big headed rather than a self sacrifice or bravery thing. Like "yeah, obviously I'M gonna do it, I'll win"
I'm a living breathing identity crisis - Bay and Jen on shirts is going to be popping up everywhere...🤣
34:57 ben got caught with the woodland smokies in school for sure
Another suggestion, do the extended sorting quiz on wizardmore.
Helps to have people that don't fit the stereotype of "bad therefore slytherin"
Edit: Finished the video. I'm happy with my predictions.
This is a great concept! 🐍🦡🦁🦅
18:26 Just went on an hour long ADHD tear looking for a nugget ice machine!!!
Ben has been a Slytherin, a Ravenclaw, and a Hufflepuff. Just get Gryffindor and you'll have the whole set.
Happy New Year from San Diego!
Happy New Year!
Me and my friends in band with saxophones: YES!
This is such an awesome concept. It’s a unique concept but I like it!
My top 3 favourite instruments are harp, flute & piano. Also as a kid I played piano, recorder & fife. Unfortunately I don’t remember how to play any of them any more.
"Who would be tempted by the creepy street" That would probably be mine, definitely if it led to somewhere

I listen to the podcast it’s so good I love it I listen every week
Everytime I got the question about what potions you'd want to make, I always interpreted it as "you're inventing a new potion that you yourself are going to drink", so for the love one, I figured it would be more like being lucky with meeting someone, or being super charismatic or something like that. I mean, I can still see plenty of messed up interpretations to that angle too, but it's not *as* immediately messed up as the concept of a love potion where you're trying to get someone else to drink it.
That's so interesting! My immediate take has always been I don't need a potions to find love!
Bay and Jen make some of the best Harry Potter content on RUclips.
