I had tickets to see Villazon and Netrebko in this performance, but after Villazon had his blowout the week or so before Beczala was brought in to replace him. And he did a magnificent job. The sound in the house was beautiful.
This is one of the greatest scenes in all of opera and must surely be the greatest scene for solo tenor. I'm not sure what I think of Lucia's "ghost" in this scene.
Very unique staging. Usually, when they want to show Lucia in this scene, they have Edgardo seeing her corpse. Now her GHOST is the one there, and apparently, only Edgardo sees her. Nice twist.

Wonderful. Such a beautiful lyric voice and great technique! Why is he now trying to sing spinto and dramatic roles not suitable to his voice type is a mistery for me.
Divine = Piotr I can't express how much I hate the Lucia character's presence here. Wrong. (this role is beyond the soprano.....) He would have been a worthy partner to Sutherland....

Great interpretation. I just hate that they made Lucia's ghost rise from the grave and "guide" the knife to kill Edgardo as well.

No me convence. Después de escuchar a kraus y otros del pasado me parece muy corriente.
