- Recently, a Kolkata-based filmmaker and former journalist made fun of Gumnami Baba for reading “Manohar Kahaniyan” in his Facebook post against Chandrachur Ghose's and mine book “Conundrum: Subhas Bose’s life after death”. Here’s a little discussion Chandrachur and I had about it with historian Prof Kapil Kumar and literature expert Dr Sushil Kumar Tiwari.

Absolutely right ..मेने भी मनोहर कहानियों पड़ी है 1995 कि टाइम, उड़ टाइम मनोहर कहानिया एक रहस्यवाद , मिस्ट्री जैसी तथ्यों पर कहानिया होती है पुराने रहस्यमयी लोगों जगहों के बारे भी बहूत अद्भुत होता थ।

Manohar kahaniya during 70 and 80s based on investigative journalism I used to read during college days,gumnami Baba's story published s in probe,this was English magazine,published by same publisher in 1984,we came to know about him gumnamii baba in 1984
Prof Kapil Kr is very much correct. What were the contents of the Magazine, then the intention of the reader or his object to read the journal can only be ascertained. So ask the critics as to the stories or after going through those the pieces of Manohar Kahaniya you may form an acceptable scientific narrative to stop the criticism or to close the mouth of the critics.
Aniket chatterjee takes inspiration for his movies from the modern issues of Manohar Kahaniya. He is that's why obsessed with this publication.

1975 के लगभग बचपन में कक्षा पांच या छः में था तब बच्चों के लिये चंपक,नंदन,चंदामामा लोटपोट आदि चलती थी एक पत्रिका धर्मयुग चलती थी फिर मनोहर कहानियां पढ़ी शुरु की 1978 से उसमें उस समय कत्ल,डकैती वाली घटनाऐं पढ़ते थे वास्तव में पढ़ने में रुची बढ़ने और भी मंगाते थे अब कुछ ही बच पाई है ,बहुत अच्छी किताबें थीं ,

मनोहर कहानियां मैंने भी पढ़ी मेरे पापा जी ने भी और मेरे दादाजी ने भी हम में से कोई भी नहीं बिगड़ा ।सब धर्म भक्त और देश भक्त हैं । हमारे बचपन में क्राइम पेट्रोल और सावधान इंडिया जैसे सीरियल नहीं आया करते थे तब मनोहर कहानियों से ही समाज में बिखरे हुए क्राइम का पता चलता था । राम और सीता पर भी उंगली उठाने वाले देशद्रोही ही नेता जी पर उंगली उठा रहे हैं वह अपने मां बाप पर भी उंगलियां उठाते हैं तो नेताजी को कैसे छोड़ देंगे ।

Sir you missed a very subtle psychological point. I am slso a journalist and have worked as a crime reporter. Gumnami Baba read Manohar Kahaniyan because,as you said, in those days Manohar Kahaniyan published investigative reports and suspense theillers. Since Gumnami Baba was in hiding and was trying his best to keep his identity a secret, he kept a tight vigil on the press to know if his identity is really a secret or is there any talks on the udentity of Gumnami Baba. Because whenever he felt that people or individuals started raising doubts on Gumnami Baba or some one became inquisitive about him, he would leave the place or stopped allowing the person to meet him. Since Manohar Kahanuyan that time did investigative reports Netaji followed it seriously. Manohar Kahaniyan has not published any reports about my true identity till now it means my identity is still intact, this may be his thought. If Manohar Kahaniya writes something questioning the identity of Gumnami Baba he would leave the place or think some strategy. This was why he read not only Manohar Kahaniyan but also all the newspapers. I am telling you this from my personal experience. I was doing investigation on a most wanted drug mafia. The pokice had raided his house and arrested him. I saw into his bedroom through the windiw. On his bed was theown an Urdu crime magazine like Manohar Kahaniyan. This is the psychology of a criminal or a fugitive. He keeps an eye on magazine that pubkush material on crime and criminals so that if some magazine publish something he would know it and think his strategy for his safety. Gumnami Baba was not a criminal but since he was in hiding his mind worked like a fugitive. I think this will help you understand why he read Manohar Kahaniyan. If he was a sadhu and not someonw else he would not be so much alert.

Meri schooling 90's me hui hai. Mere school ki library me monthly bahut se magzine aate the. Usme se ek manohar kahaniya bhi hoti thi. Jab school ke bachche padh sakte the to bhagwan ji kyo nahi wo bhi 70's 80's me.

I have seen the document in which it is written that sample A and sample B got match. One sample was bagwan ji hand writing another was netaji subhas chandra bose handwriting. CURT BAGGETT from USA is handwiting expert. He was not aware that who's sample had been provided to him. I have seen the document with signature of expert with stamp of notary public - state of Texas USA.

I hv read manohar kahaniya and I still remember there was an article written about why China attacked India. It was stunning but may be rejected by Nehru minded people who was not only betrayed by China but he also betrayed Indian people. It was a very popular magazine. It existed with Dharamyug, Kadambani, Hindustan etc.. It was investigative journalism. Nothing else like page 3 type magazine.

I am 50+ earlier Manohar Kahaniya use to have very much different type of stories they use have stories based on true stories Even off late when they had glamorous front page even than stories use to be based on true stories where in some murder or loot was on some love affair But certainly earlier issue were more on authentic side like very little creative freedoms were taken

मैंने पढ़ी हैं।पिछततर के आस पास।वो उनमें पुनर्जन्म आदि की आश्चर्यजनक कहानियां होती थी।
मनोहर कहानियां को मैंने सन् 1970 से 1980 के दशक में हर अंक का बेसब्री इतंजार रहता था हाथ में आते ही पूरी प्रत्रिका पढ़ कर छोड़ते थे उस समय यह पत्रिका इलाहाबाद से प्रकाशित होती थी इसकी इतनी मांग होती थी यह स्टाल पर आते ही एक सप्ताह में ही समाप्त हो जाती थी उस समय मैंने फिर इस पत्रिका के सन् 1950 से 1970 तक कई अंक लेकर इकट्ठे किए ओर पढ़े उस समय उस पत्रिका में साहित्य पर अत्यधिक लेख हुआ करते थे इस पत्रिका में उस समय लेखक इस ढंग से लेख लिखा करते थे कि आप उसे पूरा पूरा पढ़ कर छोड़ते थे यही एक खूबी थी इस पत्रिका में । सन् 1970 के बाद इस पत्रिका में अपराध, भूत-प्रेत ओर औघड़ बाबाओं के सम्बन्ध में हर अंक में लेख आने लगे जो लोगों ने बहुत पसंद किए कुल मिलाकर मैंने लगभग 35 साल यह पत्रिका पढ़ी मैंने यही देखा कि उस समय यह पत्रिका एक पारिवारिक सदस्यों में पढ़ी जाती थी यहीं इलाहाबाद से "माया" नामक पत्रिका भी प्रकाशित होती थी उसमें भी उच्च स्तर के लेख हुआ करते थे शुरुआत में इसमें करंट टापिक पर कम से कम आठ पृष्ठ का एक ही लेख होता था जो बेहद रोचक होता था । इन दोनों पत्रिका की अत्यधिक मांग को देखकर बहुत पत्रिकाओं की बाढ़ सी आ गई थी जैसे सत्य कथा, सत्य कथाएं, नूतन कहानियां, अपराध कथा, मनोरंजन कथाएं, मनोरम कथाएं । मगर इन सबसे हटकर कुछ ओर पत्रिकाएं जैसे धर्म युग, साप्ताहिक हिन्दुस्तान, नवनीत एवं दिनमान इत्यादि भी साहित्य प्रेमियों की मनपसंद हिंदी पत्रिकाएं थी ....🙏🙏

अस्सी के दशक की मनोहर कहानियां अपराध कथाओं की सच्ची घटनाएं छापती थी । परिवार में बैठकर पढने लायक थी । हम स्वयं बचपन में पढा करता था । पिताजी मनोहर कहानियां ,माया पत्रिका नियमित लाया करते थे । दोनो एक ही प्रकाशन की थी

मैंने बचपन में मनोहर कहानियां पढ़ी हैं। जब मित्र प्रकाशन इसे छापता था। स्वर्गीय क्षितिन्द्र मोहन मित्र द्वारा संस्थापित और मित्र बन्धुओं द्वारा प्रबंधित मनोहर कहानियां और आज के संस्करण का कोई सम्बन्ध शेष नहीं रहा है।

Prof Samar Guha (died 2002) was a noted Indian politician (MP), and an Indian independence movement activist. He was a close associate of Subhas Chandra Bose. Samar Guha strongly believed that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was not killed on 18 August 1945 after the overloaded Japanese plane that Bose was flying in crashed in Taihoku Japanese-occupied Formosa (now Taiwan). As a parliamentarian, he was a devoted activist to make Government of India accept that Bose lived after 18 August 1945. Primarily due to Guhas‘s effort, then Indian Prime Minister Morarji Desai (1977) announced that Khosla Commission’s statement was not the final words on Bose‘s death. Soon after though, Guha‘s credibility took a serious blow when he produced a picture of Bose claiming it was a recent one that turned out to be fake.
Guha investigated all leads that he thought could help him to unravel any mystery behind Bose’s death. Prof Guha could have recognized Bose easily in any form!

दुसरे में ये बताया गया है कि फैजाबाद में रहने वाले लोगों ने बाबा का अन्तिम संस्कार किया है ।

मनोहर कहानियां पहले 75- 76मेऐसी नही होती थी कि उसको पढ़ने में कोई संकोच और शर्मिंदगी की चीज हो उस समय उसमे राजनीतिक, अपराध खोज क्राइम पेट्रोल) उस समय के घटनाक्रम के विश्लेषण वगैरह होते थे कुछ कहानियों भले ही शब्दों का कुछ मसाला हो पर घर मे सब लोग पढ़ सकते थे मैं उस समय दसवीं कक्षा का छात्र था । उन दिनों एक घटना अवश्य हुई थी अफवाह थी या क्या, पर ये कहा जा रहा था कि नेता जी कानपुर में जयगुरूदेव जी का संत समागम होने वालाहै उसमे प्रगट होने वाले है मैं गोरखपुर का रहने वाला हूं पर ऐसा कुछ हुआ नही थापक्का समय तो याद नही पर 75-78के समय की बात हैहम लोग बच्चे थे जिज्ञासा बहुत थी और उनसे सबका लगाव बहुत है इसलिए ये घटना याद है

Surely he was aware that if he is caught then he will killed with cruelty and his near and dear ones also most probably . He knew what Britishers had done to other "freedom fighters" . He was not scared if his life. At least this much we need to agree.
