Well you forgot the obvious. You’ve created a RUclips channel and this is a perfect project for this type of entertainment platform. Not only is it long form but it’s interactive so you can get feedback and modify your plans and direction as you go. On top of that having this series has allowed you to get sponsors, including those who donated equipment and services to the project, that helps to make this particular project very unique and not likely possible if done any other way. At a very minimum this is interactive entertainment for us viewers that allows us to support (some with money) and participate in. If you do charitable things with the aircraft after this phase is over that is a great thing and I’m looking forward to it but that’s all a bonus. In the end this is a journey that I’m on with everyone else. I’m enjoying the process and can’t wait to see the final outcome.

In fact, I was one of those people who was concerned (tough I was polite enough to keep my opinions to myself). As others have already commented here, there had been some stuff early on that came off as a bit "clickbaity", and some of the initial communication about the charity and gofundme seemed a little vague to cynics like me. However, as time has gone on and you've both kept at the project and dialed in your communication, I can see you're the real deal. My first thought on this project was: "this just seems like a well-thought promotion trick." - if that was for the channel itself or someone else, I don't really know what I was thinking. No matter what, I enjoy the series.
Also, if you want some output from some stranger - The fact you say that you're using thousands of your own dollars into this, or any project, kind of makes it sound like you just throw money at something just for the hell of it. That can't be true seeing all the money you guys get. If that is through donations, sponsors giving you tools, or basically whatever it is. It doesn't matter really. What I mean is that I highly doubt that you take your own money and blindly throw thousands of dollars at a project without knowing at all that the money will return. Maybe it's how you word the stuff and perhaps should change it to "invest" instead. I don't really know. But I know that you most likely aren't just blindly pumping money into a project.

It might be good for the clicks but if you want to build a lasting audience, you need to build a relationship with them and trust is big part of that. Be authentic, natural, and unscripted with the audience. Stop trying to be a You Tuber and focus on being YOU. focus on what you've told us is your passion and build on that. Be vulnerable as well. Allow the audience to know when your happy and sad and angry and why. Build that connection. Good luck!

So many people contributing, so many people donating time, so many hands-on people learning new things about this plane and about restoring venerable old planes in general, and so many people your foundation is going to help down the road. The value of this project is that you are adding to the sum total of good will, cooperation, light and know-how in a world that, left to its own devices right now, would gladly run roughshod over all those values. And the trolls don't care whether you are genuine or not, because trolls never do. All they care about is getting that cheap shot and watching people run around with their hair on fire. Carry on with the 401 and enjoy the journey! If I had my life to live over I'd acquire the skills you are using every day to restore that beautiful plane and I'd have that satisfaction too.

This project is enormous. I’ve put a new engine in a car with no experience whatsoever, and it was in the days before RUclips, l just had the manuel to help me. I could not afford to have it done at the garage. It was an immense project for me but the 401’s complexity is mind blowing. The wiring and avionics scare me to death. I just love this experience. I love it for a personal reason which maybe l will relate at the end of the project.

Jason - I have come to know about this project very late. But because I developed a foot issue, golf and my flying has had to take a back seat. So I've been binge watching the last 5 or 6 or more days (lost track) and it looks like I am almost caught up. I was a jet engine mechanic in the Air Force (ours) 1968 - 1972. I got my private certificate 1976. and then a degree in mechanical engineering 1978. I offer those tidbits of information to certify that my interest in this project is off the charts. I stopped flying about 5 years after I got my license much to my regret. I am back now flying a Cirrus and thinking about getting my instruments. Anyway, I am blown away seeing the amount work, detail and commitment you and your team have given to this effort. You and your guys represent the qualities and work ethic that made this country great. It warms my heart to see there a still folks like you around! As for the naysayers - let them take a long walk off a short pier.

Jason, I stumbled on your channel just as you got hold of the 401, I knew absolutely nothing about aviation or Rebuild Rescue, I am now a fan and way more educated than I was before, I am an avid follower, if for no other reason than entertainment , not to mention everything else that I have learnt along the way. I live in a country (South Africa) where corruption and scams are a massive scourge, and as a result we have all developed finely tuned "scam sensors", and my sensors have-not once been triggered.

There's another side benefit of doing it this way, as opposed to buying it. It's showing and inspiring people to take on their projects. I, like a lot of people, have projects I've thought about doing for so long, but they keep getting pushed back. One of them had been on the back burner for years and after watching this channel, I started working on it again. It doesn't matter what it is, can be an airplane, a car, a woodworking project, a garden. It doesn't really matter. Seeing you guys do what you do is inspiring and makes me want to get out there, get my hands greasy and get something that I LOVE done. You don't get that benefit out of just buying a plane and flying it.

Even if it was a scam, you can't deny how Happier Sam and Joe are. And if you're helping people, you're worth following. I know literally zero about planes or aviation. But the YT algorithm decided I needed to watch and I've gone back and watched every video on the plane and it's been a nice learning piece. From what I can tell every form of job or project will always have some a-holes that want to take a piece for themselves or just random Karen's complaining to management because they feel like they have to be the boss and shut down the fun because they can't have fun themselves. The way you're just casually proving them wrong is great, I love it. I can't wait to see the end results!

In my eyes, the whole point was to rebuild the aircraft. The fact that it was such a wild idea and that it generated this series, which is perfect for long-form ad RUclips in 2023, is great! The fact that it generates revenue and gets donations, is also great! They are not mutually exclusive. All it means to me is that the plane gets the best attention, the best parts, the best technicians, and that it will fly again. Everything else is supplementary. Kudos, Jason and the Rebuild Rescue team!

To be honest I also thought a bit controversal about this project.
But not in a hating way or also not in the way that I think you just wanna make donation scam.
It was more like the question if it's really you who is making all the stuff happen with the plane and if it was realistic to start a project
    with such a wrecked plane.
You had some attempts to repair stuff which resulted in "okay we have to rebuild/exchange the whole thing" but in the end it is
reasonable for me because nobody knows what a 17 year old plane wreck ist going to look like under its covers.
In the end you are the man who is selecting what he is recording and what is coming into the videos. Thats important.
But in general its not wrong to question things critically. Its the opposite way in my opinion, because its good to question things critically.
Of course not in a hating or accusing way but in a communicational way and it is great that you clear up things with this video.
Keep on going man, I am totally excited about news.

This plane brings back a lot of good memories for me.
We had a C402B as our Jumpship and we enjoyed many hours flying about and jumping from it.
It finally ran out of airframe & everything hours and was retired. It's probably parted out now and a shell in a shed. [I wouldn't recommend any of the parts, we did run it as far as it could possibly go on extensions but how far can you take it until it breaks completely].
Loving this story and the videos. I randomly stumbled across video one and have enjoyed the ride ever since.
