First of all, we have to thank the restaurant owners, Luming and her husband, and the friendly staff for making our first Filipino cuisine experience so awesome! The owners are the nicest people we've ever met. Seriously. Especially have to point out how welcoming they were when explaining all the foods to us and we just loved seeing patrons getting takeouts from this home-like restaurant! (It seriously looks like a one-story house from the outside) 😄

Hello with blessing to all🤗. It is now 2024 and I have been eating at this restaurant for at least 12 years. The food here is as authentic, healthy, filling, tasty, and fun, as you can imagine‼️❣️ The chef's kiss FOR REAL lol. They have yet to disappoint. They also do breakfast at weekends and accommodate catering dishes. They sell various snacks and drinks too. I'm African American and have grown to very much appreciate, LOVE, and respect this awesome cuisine. Just TRY IT if you are ever in the DMV area.
I wanna got to Washington DC just for Luming's ! oh yeah, you have worked up my appetite!

Nice vlog guys! Planning to visit maryland soon and will definitely try this place😊
That's great! Hope you enjoy Luming's Filipino food 😋 Thank you!
Suggest to have food served in banana leaf lined bamboo plates, will make it more authentic and environment friendly, imagine those foam with chemicals go to the landfill and not degradable...If i go there I will bring my own paper plates. Or have Kamayan style( eating with your hands, no silverware nor plasticware. Good for environment! That is how we picnic in the old days sacrifice a old banana tree, use the trunk to serve the food and banana leaves as plates... or also layers of the trunk used as plates..after eating we just have everything left on the ground- fertilize the soil...win win!
Looks yummmmm! ♥🍷🍷🍷
Yes indeed! Thanks for stopping by! :D
Those are real food, home cook style. Thumbs up.

Korean Husband Hong Kong Wife will do, are you a member of donrockwell.com? Great website that looks at hidden gems in the dc area. I used to host many $20 diners throughout the area. The other site is from a professor at George mason, Tyler grown or something like that.
Thank you for the suggestion! Our main resources are Yelp and TripAdvisor, and now we got one more. :)
I suggest when eating the pork barbeque put some pickled onions. That is the best way to eat them.
I will try it with your suggestion next time! Thanks! 👍
Or, just serve it with a tablespoon of atsara/achara: papaya or chayote. It will make your customers feel really special 😌
A carinderia in America.. hahaha nice.. 👍 and yeah the lechon is for occasions only unless you wanna eat that whole pork..
Luming's is the best!
Yes! 🤩
This is definitely authentic filipino food
Thanks for your comment and sorry for the late reply! 😅 Yes, even though we're not Filipinos, we felt the warmth of the home cooking from the couple! 😍 We just posted a new video on Uyghur food. Please check it out! 🙏😁
The Halo Halo would taste better if you mixed it and not eating it from the top.
I couldn't resist to eat the purple ice cream and flan first 😄 But, yes, I did when I visited Luming's second time! It was soooo good 😋 Thank you!
you're welcome :)
Leon halo halo means MIX MIX so mix it duhhh
have you watched the vlog before commenting? at first she didn't mixed it. loool come on, watch it before saying anything kay? :) start at 7:10 ^_^
Nothing wrong with the way you ate it. I'm Filipino but I also eat the ice cream and leche flan first before mixing the rest.
thanks for intoducing Filipino food.. I noticed that .you are so beautiful ...
다디나, thank you so much! Did you get a chance to check out our latest video on Venezuelan food? Arepas Capitol has delicious and amazing-looking dishes too! Hope you will like it! 😄
saw this video while eating Turon but the one I got has banana and langka (jackfruit)
Turons at Luming's have plantains and jackfruits in them. :)
Keep up the good work you guys it's amazing there's lots of people that are unable to access and get variety and that exposure that you are bringing both of you it's awesome because now people have broadened their taste and they might try more than likely they will I mean you're looking at a 70% chance people going to be in that video like it or love it or leave it going to still be different when they're done and going to be different because the food and all your sharing and the happiness that you guys bring food is happiness or love it I cook myself I cook a lot I don't know about my palate how good it is but I know that I don't ever have to come back and I always get compliments starting up a small catering service private for people's backyards and hopefully it'll be naughty to exclusive and give to the people that really like to have food anything let me know blessings and cheers
Thank you for your comment again. 😍 That’s exactly why we did this video - to bring more people to try delicious and authentic Filipino dishes! Glad to know you’re getting compliments on your catering service. Good for you! 👍
Filipino Hospitality
Halo halo means mix mix..u mix all before u eat.. :)
oh I guess just different ways of eating it since the owner told us to eat the ice cream and the flan first, and then stir the rest! Great idea, we’ll mix it all next time we eat it. 😉
We don't really use lemon on pancit as it's quite expensive in the Philippines. We use calamansi which is more abundant and way smaller in size. They are I guess smaller cousins of lime.
Oh I didn't know that! Thank you for sharing the information 😄 Hope you enjoyed our video! Have a yummy day!
damn this show makes me hungry im going to the freedz now so yummy!!
Yay 👍
bibingka my favorite!
I should try bibingka next time but I am afraid I will only get halo-halo again 🤣
bibingka with melted butter is so, perfect for breakfast too than just having boring muffins or pancakes
Why so beautiful
I would love to learn and cook with you.
That would be interesting. You can check out Luming's Facebook page to know more about them 😄: facebook.com/lumingsllc/
Yum..what's the name of that restaurant?
It's Luming's in Fort Washington, MD 😉
The way she eat makes me satisfy. 👌😍
Thank you! We will continue to improve my yummy face! Haha! 😄
You're so lovely sweetie 😄
I haven't been to Lumings for quite a while. I heard it is already under new management. Is this true?
Meiji Tokugawa We also haven’t been there in a long time since we moved out of the country! They’re so good, hope the couple who owns the place hasn’t changed?! 😮
It's not Taro, it's Ube ice cream actually.
Thank you for that! We learned something! 👍
Taro is Ube...
purple yam
Taro is different from purple yam/Ube
taro is gabi
I get takeout from this place! Delicious food.
Nice! Hope you continue to enjoy Luming's yummy food. Thanks for the comment! 😃
You got it wrong, Halu-halo is mixing everything first then eat. Hahah...
Adobo can be cooked in different ways, every person or family has own version
Thank you for the comment! 😉
Youre right! Each family, region has its own recipe.
Its not taro, its purple yam
you are pretty :)
Thank you so much and thanks for stopping by our channel! :D
I click because I saw lechon but nothing 😭😭😭
I'm so sorry 😭 We took a picture with the owners, but didn't get a chance to try it because they were busy preparing the lechon for a party. Hope we can try it out next time 😣 Hope you enjoyed the rest of the video though! 🙏

Foodgasm 6:10
🤣
F*ck im so hungry😂😢
Puto bumbong is not made of ube (purple yam). It is made of purple sticky rice. That snack made of purple yam is called hinayalang ube/halayang ube, as there are other hinalaya foods like, camote, gabi, or other root crops.
Bamboo oh! i thought it's sticky rice and purple yam together? so the color is just food dye? 🤔 i've had it probably twice? and it was bland for me. i prefer the suman because the aroma of the banana leaves makes a big difference i think 😋
Natalia A ... The original puto bumbong is made of an heirloom naturally purple sticky rice. Good luck finding a natural purple sticky rice nowadays though. Lots of natural Philippine stuff are disappearing 😥
Bamboo excuse my ignorance, but what is heirloom purple rice? aside from the color, is it different from ordinary sticky rice in terms of taste or aroma? 😶
Natalia A ... Ok. Heirloom as the rice breed itself is passed on from one generation to the next within the family. It is because dark colored breed of rice were looked down upon as poor people’s food as opposed to the white, near translucent breed of rice that was considered food for the gods or rich people. Notice that the most common color of rice in worldwide trade is white; whereas, rice breeds in different color have become so-called “specialty,” and less in-demand.
The actual breed of sticky or glutinous purple rice is called “Pirurutong” in the Tagalog and Central Luzon regions. It actually comes in a brown-violet color and sometimes referred as “itim na malagkit.” Itim being Tagalog for dark or black and malagkit referring to any sticky rice. In Visayas and Mindanao regions, it is called as “pilit-tapow” or “pilit-tapol.” Pilit meaning sticky rice and tapow refers to any dark or black rice, as opposed to red rice which is called “pula” in any part of the Philippines.
The absurdity is that although pirurutong and any other colored rice other than white may be considered peasant food, the truth is to Filipinos of the old, these rice breeds are esteemed special as they are aromatic rice breeds! Therefore, these rice were only brought out and used for special occasions. Because Christmas is a very special occasion - a celebration of the birth of God, cuisines made of these aromatic rice come out. Sadly, most of the “kakanin” or Filipino snacks supposedly made of aromatic rice nowadays are actually made of ordinary sticky rice and sometimes regular rice mixed with lots of milk (to make them appear glutinous) and vanilla for flavoring. Even the vanilla used mostly are the fake kinds.
Even the use of other aromatic herbs, like pandan leaves, in making kakanin has lost it’s vogue in many cases😔
Natalia A ... In addition, current kakanin supposedly made of rice are also interspersed with wheat flour or corn starch for glutinous consistency, and of course, food-color. Consider puto and bibingka, once upon a time, they were made of sticky rice flour (ground glutinous white rice) mixed with coconut milk poured in banana leaf bowls with small strips of pandan leaves, and decorated with slices of regular boiled or salted eggs. Now both puto and bibingka are made of ground rice with flour/corn starch, milk, butter/margarine, with cheese on top!
What happenes with the whole pork?
There was someone who ordered the whole pig (Lechon) for a party that day, so we couldn’t try 😭 but we will try next time! Stay tuned for our facebook live! 😉
The halo halo must be eaten not like that. The meaning of halo halo is mix mix. So the right way of eating it is you must mix it all. Not just eating the top and mixing the ones in the bottom. My advice is if you are 1st time with the food and vlogging it. Please ask some advice in how or what way of eating it. 😊
Yes we heard about that from other viewers. We actually went there second time last week and we followed the original way of eating Halo Halo. It was delicious either way for us 🤣 Thank you!
halo-halo literally means MIX-MIX,so you have to mix it all...meaning all.yes,do not eat it from top
Yes we did it when we went there second time 😉 It was sooo good!
I eat the ice cream and flan first then mix it mate. Not all halo halo have the same ingredients either
Im Filipino but I never heard of Beef Adobo 5:30 - 5: 33?!
Haha we've never tried Beef Abodo, but just heard about it from a Filipino couple! ;)
Anything that is cooked using soysauce vinegar garlic onins pamienta is adobo. Our family also mskes fish adobo.
I think someone should have shown her what to do with the halo halo before eating it. Halo Halo should always come with instructions. lol
K2Torazo haha now I know how to eat halo halo since so many people commented about the instructions 🤣
honestly the adobo looks bland , sorry if I offend someone
do not eat the toppings first
+petupinulowi pita and its not taro , ube is actually different from taro
yeah I heard that! 😄
petupinulowi pita I know right? The food is not very appealing.
petupinulowi pita yes I agree.
Pig so testy
Yes! so sad that we couldn't try the lechon that day 😭 But we will definitely try it next time! Thanks for your comment againt! 😍
Korean Husband Hong Kong Wife oh so bad luck 😑 last year I ate that pig😊 in Chinese New Year
keep uploading videos thank you!!
Halo-Halo = Mix all ingredients before eating....
vde enterprise We did that when we visited there second time 😁 Thank you!
That's not how u eat halo-halo. Halo-halo literally translates to "mix-mix"
Yes, we heard it from many of the viewers already! Thanks for your comment. We went to Luming's a second time and had halo-halo again after mixing it all up! Very yummy! 😄
That's a sad looking adobo.
That's one of the saddest looking lechon i have ever seen. Im sorry.
WHY DO YOU HAVE PLASTIC CUTLERY? I AM SURE THEY ARE GOOD, WHY PLASTIC PLATE ANG WITH ALU FOIL, I'M KIND OF BOTHERED HOW IT IS PRESENTED, NOT SO ELEGANT WITH PLASTIC THINGS!
