I watched all Joel's lectures on youtube. Learned alot and is my main influence.
This explanation is all about "why retouching is more important than having a nice, wide-open aperture and expensive lens" to obtain a nice and artistic look. I have learned in this video more than I think.
Wow, one of the best demo video in recent times, specializing wide angle portraits that sounds good. Perspective matters.
After 6 years of studying Joel’s work and being influenced by his style, I still struggling to get near his work.
He is my fave photographer in the world to study..the truest definition of a person turning something as “simple” as photo’s into timeless art👌
The opportunity to learn from such a master at any age is an honor. We all grow old but some of us grow wise as well and he is a perfect example of that.
Great content but I would loved to have seen the raw images SOOC. They were obviously retouched before video insertion
What is that mounting bracket holding the strobe in place? I would prefer that over a boom.
what type of bracket was the beauty dish attached to? Joel is the man!
Great job Joel and Canon 👏👏👏👏
So weird to see Joel without a tripod
Audio sucks
Canon if you keep promoting and advertising with grandpas your brand will die
Apparently you don't even know who @Joelgrimes is
They actually full time photographer and have made a living out of photography unlike you new breed that only cares about being cool on social media and just talk about specs, specs.
Ha thats hilarious, the most CURRENT & most innovative photographer on the planet bar none. Yep Joel Grimes is 60+ years old & still at the top of the tree & ahead of the curve. He comes up with the ideas & everyone else follows & copies everything he does.......Where's your pics & photography skills mate ??? show us what you got & we all will be able to judge for ourselves.
dbackx duuuuuuude relax. He might be a good old dingo dinosaur photographer- I don’t doubt that. All I am saying is: it doesn’t attract people to buy a new camera. Look at Sony (I personally am using EOS R and X-H1) how well they do marketing and how they sell the hell out of their crappy plastic cameras....you understand my point?! Canons marketing strategy might have worked in the 80s 90s 00s but not in the present anymore
@@tomkro9704 who cares about the marketing strategy & he's talking more about the lenses not the camera. He's merely just doing a lighting/portrait demo at a photography show. I'm sure Canon have plenty of other high tech/more slick/modern marketing stuff out there in the market place. Nikon recently used Joe McNally & Jerry Ghionis for their marketing stuff on their new cameras/lenses...geez they are older than 45 as well (I refer to them as the 3 "J'' 's - Joel, Joe & Jerry all currently at the top of the tree) but I guess Nikon won't sell any of their cameras either because they are too old as well.
