Jonny, you have come a long way! Honestly, I didn't like your videos in the past, but this one was awesome! Really honest in informative review, I'll check out more of your stuff in the future! I just learned about this bass and this review was the only one I could find. I'm glad I watched it! I recently got myself an Epiphone Rumblekat, and I was wondering if I got the wrong bass, if this Vintage would have been a better fit for me. I guess it's not, the Epi is great! It has the same annoying 3-point bridge, but I can get along with it. And a smaller body (but still no neck dive), and the pickups are better matched and sound closer to what I want to hear. Like a Höfner with more booty. But I still like what Vintage has done with this bass, very unique and interesting indeed, with some very nice sounds!
I'm genuinely interested to know what you think of the Vintage VS4. I'm interested in potentially getting one but there's only two reviews on YT and one of them is just an overview anyway.
Yeah, the "mudbucker" style pickup sounds deliciously good, but.. WIAT, THAT F**@1N' bridge 😬?! ...nope, that bridge was the reason because I switched from a Gibson/Epiphone to a Tokai (China) Thunderbird: the second has the Fender-style bridge, and sounds great too! Nice review Jonny, get yourself a beer! 🍻
I know Vintage are trying to go their own way (for once) but offset horns just don't look right on a semi acoustic. As for the 3 point bridge which everybody seems to complain about, what's the problem with it?
Looks lovely, but not sure I need a hollow body. Love the brand though, they consistently make solid gear at affordable prices, their unique Joe Doe and Revo guitars and basses are especially lovely to look at. Best of all, their custom shop offers the best value I’ve come across yet, and now I’m trying my best to resist buying more every payday…
Better to just say this is a piece of junk. You are making excuses for it the entire way. If you can only get a decent sound with a little drive and a pick, there is a major problem. Alan Entwistle pickups are generally junk. Not even sure why companies use his name as a selling point. Is it just because he shares a last name with John? lol. The bass tones from video are terrible. Every setting you tried. There are several budget semi-hollows that sound much better. The Ibanez Artcores come to mind, as well as the Gretsch budget basses. Any semi-hollow from Japan in the 70’s beats the living daylights out of this bass, and they can be found for about the same price.
Great that you give this brand a bigger stage! Absolutely underrated!

hipshot bridge only , gibson 3 point style should just discontiuned forever
@@AJbassist agreed!
Great looking bass-reminds me of a 335. Wonder how it would compare with the Harley Benton short scale offering - which is half the price?
@@davelock3166 that’d be interesting!
Floating bridge on the HB 😒
@@Some_Cat_ I don't mind them. Not perfect, though.

Thanks for the review
@@arlowolf1690 No worries!
When you did that first demo 4m43s the sound was almost like a phasing effect, very cool.
@@kimmorgan379 Yes!!
I thought there was something wrong with my speakers.
Is the body hollow like the jack cassidy? Or dies it have a thicker center block? Gorgeous sounding/looking bass
@@mathewcumming4637 I don’t think so

I’ve had 2 basses with that bridge I no longer have them - otherwise looks great. the other Revo you had looks cool too

@@kingstumble the 3 point bridge means you can’t accurately set the action of each string like normal saddles. The entire bridge pivots instead
You should most definitely do the Eastwood Hooky Viking Pro!!!!!
@@xero_2003 I would LOVE to work with Eastwood. IF ONLY THEY’D GET BACK TO ME

Great review but the best bass in the video is still that CIJ Jaguar on the wall!

3-pt bridge, ew. Jail for Vintage, jail for Vintage for 1,000 years!
Not a bass for me, but nice review.
