- This is an EARLY review of LEGO Super Mario set 71427 Larry and Morton's Airships Expansion Set! This set contains 3 buildable LEGO Super Mario characters: 2 Koopalings - Larry and Morton, and a Goomba with a Pirate Hat

At the moment, I think this will likely be my final review of the August Mario sets - it seems other RUclipsrs have already covered most of the other sets that I haven't - I may still do the smaller ones as RUclips shorts

I'm very surprised to hear that there was a lot of negative reactions to this set when it was revealed. To me, it looked super cool, was well-priced, and came with some awesome play features with Morton's airship being able to open up and form a boss arena. All I wanted was more airship sets in the future for the other five koopa kids.
The parts used for cannons are actually over a decade old, they're Belleville buckets, I didn't even know they were still coming in sets
Oh wow! I searched “pipe” on bricklink and couldn’t find them - if they’re buckets that makes sense

An interesting thing about this set is that it has the Wolverine claws in black for the 1st time used as Morton’s hair. Those will be so useful for customs down the line!
SWOOSHING SHIPS NEVER GETS OLD!!!
The original Larry's wand used a flag pole piece for the handle instead of a stud and a pole like the rest of the koopalings, so it's nice they all have consistentcy now.

I hopethey make the other 5 koopaling airships. It would be a better way to get the koopalings than having to save up to get em, say Ludwig and lemmy for example. Almost 200 dollars cause you have to get the peach starter set along with the peach's castle set.
I actually know where the koopalings airship comes from: from new super mario bros. U. At the end of each world in the game, you fight a koopaling in the airship. Idk where the goomba captain came from. But that's where the airships come from
I'm very interested into getting it. It's the perfect sequel to the Bowser's Airship set, and although it's a bit overpriced the builds for the ships are very good and getting Morton is awesome. Still hoping we get Roy at some point.

my favorite koopaling is Larry. Also I deffinintly I like the Larry ship and character more then the Morton one. But the Morton also looks good

Neat builds but quite underwhelming . Feels like afterthought.
I definitely preffer morron's ship, but are those quarter sphere Brown pieces used for the hull new?, I know they exist in the 3x3x2 formato, but that looked like 4x4x3

I think a reason why people don’t really like this set is because Martin supposed to be gray and not brown but other than that it’s a good set
The canon pieces are not new. Already saw it at the Build A Minifigure Tower a Year ago in pink and I was also very surprised about it. I think it was a flowerpot from Friends or something like this 👀

Which set is better the donkey Kong tree house or the airships
i think diddy kongs ride is better then donkey kong tree house and the air ships are good but i think diddy konds ride is better and comes with funky kong and a full kart ride and a airplane thats interative
The airships, I’m sorry but Morton makes this set so much better… even if they made him too big. But Larry should have some peices that you could repurpose to Morton
