$6500 is a lot just for the floor, vanity, and lighting fixture. I just re-did my bathroom for around 3k and I tiled the floors, new toilet, new tub, tiled around the tub for the shower, installed a new vanity, baseboards, lighting fixture and painted it.
Did you charge yourself labor? You think this guy should be working for free? Or is it ok to charge the client so he can pay bills and eat food?
Thank you, I was thinking the same thing. I was wondering if he meant this would have been a $6500 remodel if you hired it out. I am going down to the studs for mine and have the same budget as yours (its a hopeful budget but still)
So what would be the right price to charge? That took him days, prepping, problem solving, skills and tools. A contractor would of charged double and have other people do it for $12 an hr.
@@UriValdezya 12/hr for mcdolads, this is back breaking manual labor, that also takes some skill.
I'm amazed at the number of so called experts who 2nd guess your work. You do great work, keep on sending out videos.
yeah I can't believe that was 6500. You didn't do anything with the shower area, reused the toilet, and repurposed a light fixture. That must be really expensive tile and vanity.
I think he meant 650$
Now that I saw the description he counted all the purchasing of electric tools and bits not just supply. I have all the tools already. I just need to buy supplies and do the job
Here in California that would of cost at least 15k
I did a very similar bathroom renovation just a few months ago. Good job handyman.
Thanks for this series. Good for both Handymen and home owners. Great job!
My man, The Handyman. Another fine job my brother.
Great Job that having been said, Wow that tub and shower valve are Jacked up, A $20 buck builder light fixture with a mail order Wayfair cabinet.
the reason you remodel a bathroom or a space is to bring everything up to date to add value and decor to that space for future resale and value.
I get that you are dealing with a budget amount but don't settle for less than total completion to that area. If that 20 year old shower valve goes bad or the 20 year old tub cracks or develops a leak all things to consider when remodeling.
can you go over the cost of materials and labour in detail?
I had one of those same sink drains a while back and had the same issue. Found a place on the sink that I thought was causing the leak and could not get it to stop. Finally used a little silicone on the top part and Rector Seal T Plus 2 on the threads....worked like a charm. I use that stuff on almost everything now.
Same here for the drain. Removed the thin seal under the piece on the top side of sink and used plumber’s putty. No leaks.
I would like to see six more angles of the tile to carpet transition. Please and thank you.
Another great video thanks Handyman
I definitely need to get that “come and get it” caulk gun shirt from the first vid. As always, love your work Handyman.
Crushing it. Nearly 500k
great job and video
Handyman is a Craftman!
Looks good.
Looks good
Those orange washers (or green or blue ones) have been a life saver in not having leaks. Remember those crappy plastic ones?
Good job
Nice!
Any project that requires the bendy screwdriver is 👌
Good job Handyman... I love doing bathroom renos! 🤌money!
First thing you RAWK! Appreciate your Chanel very much. I got an off-topic question. As a handyman, I do work for a PMC. I drove out of town to repair a running toilet. I did the basics. The new flapper adjusted the float, and it needed a new handle with the arm for the chain to hook to. This toilet was older and arm corroded to the point the chain hole completely disintegrated. That was actually the problem. Anyways, the toilet worked. Showed tenant. 2 weeks go by, and I get an email go warranty. It's running again. I called the customer. How often does this happen. It only happened once. I get there record the whole thing with phone. The customer stands right next to me. Works 8 times in a row. He says it's weird. I'm not sure why it did it "that one time last week." I'm guessing that a piece of the old decaying flapper or something got stuck for a second that flushed out. The toilet is totally gross inside the tank and everywhere. I had to drive 35 minutes each way and pay myself and the office staff to email and send videos, etc. I charged my minimum fee for that area. PMC wants to know why. Lol... Do you think I should charge? Any advice?
I especially like the floor tile and how it makes that small bathroom pop. Good bye until next time Handyman

Waste...
I was wondering why you put tile under the vanity until I noticed it sits up on corner feet. Didn't have a choice did you.
paint wall (for smaller light)?
Did you skip the shallow box on the stud because you had that other similar fixture? Or did the customer not want to pay for the extra patchwork? Just curious, thanks!
This was 2 different bathrooms to show how it was done in the old days. I will have a video showing how to put the light in with the shallow pan box. Its going in a different bathroom in the house. They switched things up on me during the project.
As soon as you mentioned the drain and then messed with the drawers later on I knew it must be some Lowes builders source crap. Charge extra for having to fix new products😂
Great job. Kind of mind blowing this has that high of a price tag not to include the bathtub and surround.
Tub and tub tile would put it over $12,000.
You think 6500 is a realistic price for a full bath remodel? You either live in a very low COL area or are unfamiliar with the pricing of stuff like this. Where I live, this job would be 7k or 8k easily and no one touches a shower or tub for less than 6k.
@@TheHandyman1 yea, I got a quote to upgrade a tub to a tub and shower and to replace tub surround. Bee windows quoted 15k for just that and not touching anything else in the room.
Touch up paint by the new light bar?
The towel bars kind of date it, but the threshold is perfect. What is that black thing on the top of the toilet tank? @7:51
It blows my mind someone would pay 6500 for that job....maybe location has to do with it, where I'm at 6500 would include replacing the tub and retiling the shower.
I guess you are in California...forget everything there is stupid expensive
Not a chance....in my opinion. I do bathroom shower remodels with vinyl or fiberglass surrounds and don't touch the rest of the bathroom for 7K on a cheap one. If I'm tiling...price is closer to 9.5K.
Wow, you charged $6500 for that minor remodel, again congratulations on that job, I've been underpricing my Washroom jobs by a lot.
Thanks
I'm blown away..For 6500 bucks
Builder grade fixtures and tile on the floor for $6500... that is crazy!
Still got the 5light fixtures, and my guys were kind enough to just punch huge holes in the drywall
9 foot vanity. 2x on all that stuff i said
Thank You… mine must be a $15,000 makeover.
This gives me a price to work with.
Most full-size master bathrooms with a new shower start at $25,000
I couldn't tell if there was one already but the homeowner should have put in a door stop to protect that bathroom drywall from that doorknob. With kids in the house, I can easily see that door flying open and denting or putting a door knob sized hole in that wall.
It would be nice to know what was included in the $6500 remodel.
My man.
👏👏👏👏
2:53 1¼" ...not ¼" ;-)
Nice work - as usual!
Surprised that outlet isn't GFCI.
Why wouldn't you redirect the drain line instead of cutting the vanity apart
That makes no logic sense. Go check out the patreon video that really breaks it down. Its uploading right now.
🇺🇸🤘 Heck Yeah Handy Dandy 🤘🇺🇸
Cost of vanity and tiles? Looking to do similar to one of my bathroom
There were shims holding the vanity level, then you just pulled the shims and left the gaps? Is that standard handyman practice?
What happened to changing the shut offs to 1/4 turns?
Customer probably didn't want to pay for it. Considering he swapped a light fixture from another room, I'm guessing they started going over budget.
What do you guys do when the carpet to tile transition isn’t flush? Is there a strip you put down or something?
Google ‘tile to carpet transition reducer’ to see lots of options
Check out the patreon video for the secret. www.patreon.com/thehandyman
I’m sure it’s posted somewhere in here but I ask again, why use cheap drain line adapters on a new sink drain? That stuff is horrible man, should had gone with actual pvc bud, but I’m sure you have your reasons. Great video. Thanks
That's how it's done in the real world
Nice work! Good bye.
My Eyeballs have reviewed this video.
Shrek:
That'll do, Donkey. That'll do.
So the $6500 was that just what you made or is that the cost of materials vanity and tile..etc?
Materials and labor. He said in earlier episode
Wanted to get a Caulk Gun t-shirt but you don't ship to Canada???
Cortante de más .
The bathroom turned out great. Just wondering why you did not put any silicone between the bottom edge of the back splash and the vanity top? I put a tiny bead of clear silicone there so it does not even squeeze out from the front leaving less chance of visible mold forming on the silicone. Do you think over time the drywall along the left edge of the vanity top may get messed up because there is no side splash? Did the customer request you to replace the light after most of the work was already done, otherwise would you suggest doing that step before the vanity / mirror was in you way? (It is also annoying since you already painted the room and now you have an outline from the old light showing at the 10:10 mark).
How did a new vanity and tile for the floor cost $6,500?!?
The bathroom went from 1960 to 1975 😂
*Read to the end of the comment.
Oh my god!! Haha, you're true fans know, you did THAT just for the trolls. Your "Man that's going to work out great!" was the frosting on top to send the keyboard commandos into rage mode.
I appreciate that you take the time to get good audio. I remember when you switched over to the external microphone. Your levels are great with no crackling.
It's so frustrating when good youtubers spend so much money on audio and video equipment and their audio is clipping and sounds like garbage. I can't help but stop watching it's so bad sometimes.
I need to know, this will help me give the price to my client. this value of $6,500. Does it include all material like ceramics, cabinet, mirror, light, grout and everything else or is it just labor? please.
Ha and did you do the painting too?
Yes it includes the customer supplied vanity and tile
My downstairs bathroom is this size. Good to know I’ll never be able to afford remodeling it until the day I die. Thanks, inflation. Thanks, Federal Reserve. My life is a never-ending series of stolen aspirations and broken dreams.
Anyway, good work.
Thought you were going to bring the light up to code?
What’s not up to code about it?
Did you not watch the video
Box was supposed to be moved over, so conductor’s didn’t lay in the drywall
@@terencemerritt what happened to the shallow pan box?
Nice work, but the mirror screams 1998 and the light bar is very builder grade 1990. A few couple of $$$$ would have made this a 10.
Why’s the factory built vanity take longer to assemble than a Handyman handmade one 😂 just kidding Handy, good work.
Not my taste, but a good job installing what they wanted. Everything's real fancy, but why the plain generic towel bars? Those are cheap and easy to upgrade.
6.5k for changing mirror, vanity, tiling small piece of floor, not even tiling/changing the tube itself? crazy. Wonder how much would be charged for full bath remodel...
Yes good looks little the same
yo i did both my parents bathrooms for less than 6,500
but now i kno what to charge a rich prick 👍🏻
its much different if your working for family or helping friends. I did a bathroom not that long ago that worked out to be around 9k in labor alone and they spent another 8 or 9 in materials and finishes. I know a contractor who works alone and charges 75-100$ an hour typically. If its for friends its minimum of 50 an hour.
$6,500?? For what was basically a new vanity and tile floor. Insane. And this folks is why you should always DIY.
Ppfftt..🙄 I could have done this for $6'497 Mr. Handyman.
Seriously though, your work looks excellent as always. Judging by the decor, and materials used; that house definitely look like it was built in the 90s, possibly even early 80s lol. Like that metal trim between the carpet and tile at the bathroom door. The wood grain door with brass handle, and that style of wood used on the door jambs. That old flooring too.
$6,500 for this project? Did you also charge for filming time?
6500 just labor? Thanks
Nice bathroom! Def not 6500
ASMR carpet petting.
Darn, first like, thats a first.
First comment too. You’ll get the 🏆 🤡!!!!!
@@terencemerritt I'm so happy, thank you😂
$6500?! Did you have the tile and vanity imported from a high end designer overseas?
Didn’t see a toilet paper holder. I just got a freestanding one to avoid the headache of securing one to the wall
I had a freestanding TP holder that also had a magazine rack and a flexy armed Ipad holder
The old TP holder was part of the discarded vanity. A decent tp holder costs like $20 and requires 1 or 2 screws but it looks like there’s not much room in there for one.
Go ahead and send Beyonce a caulk gun shirt
He wouldn’t be a Handyman anymore; he’d strictly be in the selling clothes business if Beyoncé ever wore one of his shirts
6500 seems like a lot for that...
Flooring, a bit of trim, and a vanity.........for $6,500? That's what you charged? No fault of your own, but that chrome, and white, and old oak just clashes so hard. God that looks terrible (not your fault). I also wouldn't have paid that much for what ya did, not sure what area you're in, but man I gotta get on using my LLC I formed for handyman, I'm missing out on some good money.
He is in a Seattle area, so probably $6,500 might be fair
Who paid 6k for that?
Nice job, but what was worth $6,500.
Who’s this and where is the handyman?
$6500. How much was materials $1000? Not bad for a few days of work. That's a lick lol
Just blows me away how that is a 6,500 bathroom remodel and old toilet and shower still left. Should not be 6,500 for a pre-fab vanity, light, and tile. That seems very expensive. Even if tile 2,000 dollars which is crazy for that small area and vanity with lights not even 3,000 dollars in and cost 6,500?
$6500 for new floor (25 sq ft), vanity, mirror, and light?
That's about it. I also put in new baseboard. That price includes all the materials too.
Nice job but your too expensive for me.
the fact that most of the back of the cabinet is solid and to make it a lot nicer job I would cut the drywall and move the plumbing over I would never cut a customers cabinet that much patching the drywall doesn't take long and makes a nicer job
All that work and no new 🚽?
It looks alright... but 6500 bucks for a few hours of painting 25 sq feet of tile and a shitty little vanity? Crazy
$6500 You got ripped off!!!!!
I bet your quality of life is better without the beard 😂
Ill take these 6500 jobs all day long
$6500?
Screw cheap vinyl, cover over it move on
A real Handyman would have used a 32" crosscut saw like a man, not them there cheating soliciting saws.
$6500?????
Why? Why? Why? Use that old looking mirror and old light bar? I have no decorating talent but I know that is not good looking.
Didn't joe Biden make it a felony to use those bulbs.
What a hack, I would be pissed with the quality. The vanity has gaps all around it and floating off the floor. Mirror is very dated look, old fixtures. Why don’t you just title this robbing customers for a living. Looks very cheap
The customers designed and purchased everything. I'm just the installer.
