you mean leaving the layers of the plywood showing, right? ...it's very typical to just leave it showing in Korea for built-in custom shelving. I must say, i was surprised the first time I saw it.
@@claytonroberts5881 I mean, it is beutifull even "unfinished", just look stranger for me.
Everything made out of plywood and rough edges showing, that would never be accepted in Europe (or maybe anywhere else?). That door too, basically two big sheets of plywood on a frame with braces. Such a hollow door will let a lot of noise through I guess. Great workmanship, that has to be said. I got the impression this was installed in an office space. So then the functionality is way more important than the looks. Making this design from solid wood would make it way more expensive.
You sir are a bad ass! Looks like a quality custom piece that will last a life time.

A friend of Mine built a Wall Bookcase.
After many years it came to Me and I cut it down to fit My Wall.
Years later I cut it down again to fit My Mother’s Wall.
Years after that it was cut down again to fit in My Father’s Workshop.
Eventually it received a Viking Funeral.

unlike IKEA, which would have gone directly to a landfill. Which reminds me of that other Swedish invention (actually European intelligence) Greta Thunberg.
He's just so confident and comfortable building this.Seems like there is not a lot of concern for safety... it's interesting... maybe he's like a chef that just knows how to use a sharp knife... I would be so hesitant doing some of these things.. hesitant and maybe therefore less safe...

so pretty! i love that curved corner shelf, makes it look very graceful. i built some bookshelves for my bedroom and i'm proud of how they came out, but they're nothing like this lol! i'll keep practicing😂
nice, how come you chose not to veneer the edges of the plywood
haven't you heard?? Leaving the striped pattern on plywood is all the rage these days. So modern. LOL. (joking aside, I actually do like the look. Not on every piece, but I also thinking using a veneer is almost like cheating. Get some solid wood, or show off that neat line pattern on your ply... because your piece is made of ply).
@@urwholefamilydied Have to agree with you. Its a nice build, but it screams out to have some thin strips of solid wood applied to the edges to cover the visible ply.. it would just finish it off

Слои фанеры на торцах всегда выглядят не очень. Шпонирование кромкой исправит положение.
Я инженер конструктор на мебельном предприятии.Это просто ... Трэш .Хотя для японии может и норм.Но от начала и до пылесоса ...Вообщем у нас любой гаражник может дать такой видос.

Beautiful work and great ideas for the shelves. But . . . why did you leave the plywood edges exposed? I use either edge banding or cut strips from veneer for a modern look, and solid wood for a more traditional appearance. In any case, great job.
