@@SilentHotdog28 the end of an intense action movie with the twist that the main villain was just overprotective of the protagonist and concluding in the two just sitting together and talking it out would be so insanely wholesome.
AFAIK, he wanted to do more stunts with longer takes instead of cut/edit technique. He is also perfectionist, if he felt an action scene is imperfect, he doesn't care how many takes it would take, he will do it all over again until he is satisfied
I think he also had a habit of making up the choreography after the sets are built. One of the prop people from Shanghai Noon made a blog about how Jackie would come in and invent weapons out of the set. In the bar fight for example, Jackie grabs a pair of antlers and foghts with them. Apparently, when he first walked onto the set, je spotted those, and then started swinging them around as a weapon. Thats when it was decided to use those in the movie. It mist be a pain in the ass though; you have to carefully plan out how youre going to use them and practice, to make sure nobody gets hurt. That would irk *so* many American producers, who just want to fart out a product quickly.
Imagine the other actors having to go through a hundred takes of an action scene because Jackie wanted it to be perfect, and then repeat that for a couple dozen more scenes. I can understand why some actors don't want to work with him.
@@Baka_Moplol You obviously never heard of Stanley Kubrick who was an insane perfectionist and would make you do a scene with no dialogue over 50 times. He made Shelly Duvall in the shining do over a 100 takes. Some directors are like that. David Fincher is like that too. They believe that after so many takes the actor stops "acting" and acts more natural. Then you have directors like Clint Eastwood who does it in one or two takes.
It's funny because if you watch the bloopers you will immediately understand what he's talking about. it isnt just Americans that talk fast. Having grown up in southern California, i never understood spanish fluently. You pick up enough to have basic conversations, like saying hello, order mexican food, ask directions and simple exchanges and of course vulgarities lol. Unless you are living it day to day you dont understand completely the language, but you pick up on the basics. you say a few words clearly enough, but then they think you know enough so they start talking faster then you can not keep up, because you only understand every 5th or 10th word. i know more spanish then i think i know, but not enough to have complete conversations. You end up playing charades and mime body language a lot to attemp to get your point across.

So essentially you have one person who wants to work longer hours because he enjoys what he's doing and a union boss who is trying to go by the book and make sure everyone is looked after because he cares about people and they end up fighting because they can't agree haha.
@@SilentHotdog28 Jackie doesn't want to work more, he's just used to exploiting people after being exploited in an autocratic country with no safety or workers rights.
@@SilentHotdog28 the end of an intense action movie with the twist that the main villain was just overprotective of the protagonist and concluding in the two just sitting together and talking it out would be so insanely wholesome.
He also loved doing what he does, he started as a stuntman. He was in two of Bruce Lee’s movie’s
I remember being a kid and first seeing Jackie Chan in the movie “who am I?” That just opened a whole new world of movies for me.!
Omg❤how much energy is there even in this age❤hats off sir❤love you💘
"I want to do so many action!"
-Jackie Chan
He's such an intense person lol 😅❤
AFAIK, he wanted to do more stunts with longer takes instead of cut/edit technique. He is also perfectionist, if he felt an action scene is imperfect, he doesn't care how many takes it would take, he will do it all over again until he is satisfied
I saw the video too! Wild!
@@TheDrLeviathan I love Shanghai Knights and Noon!
Hey, Jackie, you have to say freeze.
JC: ok, CHEESE!
It's funny because if you watch the bloopers you will immediately understand what he's talking about. My favorite blooper is the one where Lee and Carter are talking about adult films, and someone convinced Jackie to improv the line "I like the one with the horses." And the man didn't understand what that meant, but he fully committed to saying it.
"don't mess with those guys"
Facts!!
This man's heart is very pure I love how he is always nice and funny
His kids would say different
@@pembomassive1394 She is over 20 and broke and got no job who's fault is that? He worked for his money and he got to choose what he wants to do with it. She nagging about oh my dad told me to leave because I'm gay and he doesn't respect to call me they/them , so what? Did she expects to always stay her ass off and never work just because her dad is Jackie Chan? Grow up kid you never have to expect for other to save your ass
Jackie really loves what he does. To want to continue working after 8 hours, to want to do even more over the top stunts for the movie.. This man is truly one of a kind.
"do you understand the words coming out of my mouth?" that's a NO from jackie chan
I had a classmate from China in my class from 8th-12th grade, and he always had trouble speaking and understanding English but was such a nice kid. One time he said something wrong by accident (I don’t remember what he said) and a few people chuckled, and he just turns to them and says “Why you laugh me???” I felt so bad but it was so funny 😂
I love his humility I love his dedication to his craft he's just a really likeable fellow
He disowned his daughter for being a lesbian. Daughter from his lover he didn't really visit after getting pregnant while married to another woman, whose birthday he doesn't even bother to remember. He also hates his son and cheers for human rights abuses in China by the CCP.
This is the smoothest loop I've ever seen.
Jackie being a comedian without even trying 😂
I think hes talking about the blooper where he pointed the gun at someone he yelled out “CHEESE!” But his line was “FREEZE”
He already did it all back in Hong Kong when it comes to martial arts and action. The drunken master, Wheels on meals, Police Story just to name some. Even got to work with Bruce Lee. I understand why he felt limited in Hollywood. He s amazing.
It's cool Jackie I feel the same way when entering Chinese restaurants. Never know what's going on 😭🤣🤣🤣
Awe jackie. I love him. He is right we do speak fast. For a while i thought it was just me, but im realizing alot do especially in Cali.
If he thinks people from California speak fast, wait till he meets someone from New York or even Boston lmao
Nothing to do with regional talk. If you're not fluent you're gonna find native speakers speak fast.
it isnt just Americans that talk fast.
He cheated on his wife, never helped his daughter from said cheating, and disowned her when finding out she's a lesbian. He also supported Chinese police beating up Hong Kong protesters. He's sentience piece of feces. A horrible person.
Keep in mind, he was still in the process of learning English during the filming of the first movie, so I don’t think it was hate so much as confusion
I wanna see the Jackie Chan version of Rush Hour now! I bet it would have been a riot.
This explains a lot of his facial expressions in the film. And here we thought he was just awesome at deadpan expressions in comedy. That’s awesome. It truly was authentic confusion. Lol
I'd say we must protect Jackie at all costs, but I don't think he needs any help
And just like that, Conan teleported him back to the set full of people laughing at something he said.
And this is why Hollywood didn't understand Jackie Chan's art. I know there are good movies, but none of them feels like a really 100% Jackie Chan movie like his Chinese ones in the 80-90.
I love how rush hour was 24/7 action and comedy all happening at the same time that’s what makes these movies so special because most action movies are so serious
The guy was uspet he ddnt work longer hours and break some bones 😅😅😅 he is a legend for sure 😅
Jackie is so wholesome, I aspire to have even 1/100th of his incredible work ethic and mentality
Nah dude is not so great in real life compared to his movie personas. Just ask his family.
He wants to join the Chinese Communist Party. He's a sellout.
@@issaciams it's even worse because his public image is so family friendly. Like, I understand people have flaws and make mistakes, but he's a hypocrite. And this comment about HATING WORKERS RIGHTS AND WANTING TO EXPLOIT THEM FOR FREE doesn't make him look better.
@@KasumiRINA did he do something problematic?
@@_.violyse._
Yeah, quite a bit. Look how he treated his daughter. Seems to be a bit of a homophobe :/
I have loved him and thought he was brilliant for most of my life. And his work is brilliant, 10/10. But for being a father.....it's more like 1/10.
I will never be the martial artist he is, or rich and famous but I will be a good Dad or die trying and happy with my path. I can't say if I am a good Dad, that's up for others to say. But the feedback has be positive so far :)
Little known truth here is that those union guys would've actually stayed to work more. You just gotta actually pay them for those hours.
Exactly.... Too many people think the unions are bad and lazy... No they just want compensation for their time.
It's probably the producers wanting to make the film as cheap as possible, or just divert the money to who they want to, i.e themselves or friends
@@maloydonedidit2903 people have been brainwashed into going "unions=bad" and when they get suddenly shit on by their job they wonder what happened
Yes, why is overtime a bad word for workers???
@@sahej6939 it's not bad, but the "bosses" don't want to compensate you for your time. If it weren't for unions, at least here in the US, we wouldn't have a 5 day work week. We wouldn't have benefits. We wouldn't have overtime. Sadly, though, in 2023 those things are being destroyed by the people in power. Mostly republicans, but the Dems aren't doing enough to stop it. We are slipping back into the 1920s-30s where we are all going to be thrown the scraps and expected to be thankful for it. I grew up hearing about how bad it was then... You don't want to go back to that. It was only a grand utopia for those with money and power, everyone else suffered.
He made Rush Hour a massive hit
I believe that part when he said cheese instead of freeze😂
CHEESE!!!
-Jackie Chan
When he sings Donny & Roberta in Rush Hour 3 I die everytime 😂😂
Legend and Absolute GOAT!
Humble person❤
A first police officer named Inspecter Lee once said " Cheese!" on his suspect with gun on his hand. ❤❤❤😂😂😂
Jackie Chan: cheese!!!!
Everyone on the set: it's FREEZE!!!
😂😂😂😂
"I want more action" always Jackie.
Love him but what a workaholic
They made him say some pretty raunchy things and Jackie is pretty traditional. He felt like he was being made fun of because they told him to say sentences that he didn't know what they meant.
I really thought this was going to circle around to the bit about them having him say the n word in rush hour 1 💀
Lmaoo the bloopers make this video accurate 😂😂
Jackie: I just talk and everyone keeps laughing…
Conan & Everyone: ahahahahah 😂😂😂
Jackie: 🤨🤨🤨….
I respect this guy for making movies in English and not even being able to speak it, that's a hustler
I love him
Me too
I liked Rush Hour. I'd watch it on VHS whenever I had the time. Rush Hour 1 & 2. I even watched some of Jackie Chan's older films like Meals on Wheels & Snake in the Eagle's shadow. 👏🏾👏🏾
I just love drunken master so much
The real life "Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?" moment. 😂😂😂
How I feel about my friends sometimes. I say something, they laugh, and I don't even know the joke
Ya, I like the HK attitude to work better . You don’t have to contend with lazy people at work , but they do need to come up with a creative way to balance work with life a little more there as well.
Jackie is the Chinese Arnold Schwarzenegger.
MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE ACTOR!!!!
“i like the one w the horse”
Only union worker complaining about not having enough work, gotta love the irony 😄
I’m in a union and most are constantly looking for more work the issue is after 8 hours they have to pay overtime even if you don’t work a full 40 that week. It’s likely that they sent people home after 8 hours due to not wanting to pay them overtime. If not than the union in Cali works WAY different then where I live.
@@rougarabid 💯✔️👍
Because his work is different than other peoples work. He wanted to work more because he is literally jumping building and beating people up that sounds like a lot of fun. Most people would want to keep working if thats the kind of job they had. That’s not the case for most people though.
Oh Jackie Chan. He is all that is right with the world.
Well put. He’s a comfort place
No, he's really not. He's a deadbeat father that all but abandoned his daughter, and has come out in favor of the Chinese Communist Party's oppression of the Chinese people. He's actually a huge shitbag.
Cheating on his wife, not raising his kids, belittling human rights protesters, promoting dictatorship in China and Hong Kong. Confessed to having been a horrible drunk driver and serial crasher of cars. All the good things about the world.
