Decentralize! Whoever stakes the most in polkadot (large corporations and billionaires) dictate the chains operability. This is social media on an economic scale. Atom all the way!
The difference is that they need to have skin in the game in order to vote... So, they are likely to vote in something good for the economics of the chain...

We just hit an economic crisis and could barely get stimulus check for the citizens while the corporations just got bailed out again
man I've thinking about this a lot lately: can large entities or whales start to dominate the direction of the ecosystem over time and thus result in a more centralized nature that effects the small guys or "controversial projects"? Specifically the crowdloan process and governance structures. How easy is it for small or controversial projects to have longevity and safety on the DOT network? Is it reasonable to think in 10 years DOT could be controlled by a bunch of fortune 500 type entities like you say or am I missing something fundamental about it's architecture?
I love ATOM personally. Maybe it’s because I missed the bus on DOT, but everything about ATOM is appealing.
Yeah. Polkadot user experience is soooo complicated. I've noticed all Cosmos network coins share very similar, simple elegant user experiences. Polkawallet alone confuses the heck out of me.
I'm on team ATOM. They apparently had some internal beef but worked it out and are now on a good path w different divisions taking on different roles. One thing they didn't mention in the video was how much of the tokens are owned by insiders. Last I checked, DOT was close to 50%(?) insider owned and ATOM was only in the mid-teens(?). DOT doesen't sound very de-centralized to me so I'm adding ATOM every payday.
ive been buying cosmos since the first runup to 25 bucks... been buying the dips every time, up to almost 100 cosmos! not much compared to others since I found out about it late but I love this project :)

I love both but I believe that Cosmos has an edge over Polkadot. IBC is being implemented as we speak and AMM /DEXes being rolled out (Gravity, Osmosis, Juno) + already well established projects like Terra and Mirror that provide an entire DeFi ecosystem from stable coins to yield farming. Future for ATOM is bright IMO, and with ~8x lower market cap than DOT, there is also much more upward potential

The best plus for Cosmos is interblockchain independence. For a decentralized network to be truly decentralized, its governance for interoperable blockchains must be independent to their user base.

ATOM is arguably better than DOT in many ways, but DOT has much better publicity, which is key.
However, DOT is already top 5, so ATOM has much more potential growth.
ATOM at $100 will have a market cap around $22B, while DOT already is at $33B.
So the greater growth potential, at this point, is with ATOM.
Where ZIL and Polkadot staking Exodus ? Come onnnnnn.....

Polkadot has nearly 10x the market cap of Cosmos right now... is it really 10x better? Very likely that either Polkadot is overvalued or Cosmos is undervalued. Something to keep in mind !

As the #COSMOS ecosystem grows so does the value of the $ATOM.
Gravity #dex launching in April bringing massive utility to $ATOM. Any network that has IBC enabled will use the gravity dex for swaps & liquidity...
I wish $100 for Atom at least. They put much effort to create such great ecosystem.

Another thing to add at this time is that IBC on cosmos is live. So you can utilize the network. On the other hand DOT is still a year away.

Cosmos technology wins, but Polkadot will win on earnings in the end because of back-room deals and because Cosmos dropped the ball in promoting their own coin. Cosmos is only as big as it is today because it gave away the Cosmos SDK for free. That being said, I own both and expect that there is room in the market for both companies. Polkadot will pump as soon as the para-chain auctions start locking up DOT.

@@MKultraInstinct I know. I don't understand crypto sometimes. ATOM doesn't really have any utility atm, other than airdrops you get from staking but rewards are usually given for staking juno or osmso or LP'ing too, so even that's not even necessary. As I understand it, you don't need to use ATOM at all, it doesn't have a function that would make ppl want to pay a higher price for it. Right? what am i missing?
@@MKultraInstinct my comment was 7 months ago, but I maintain my position. It is still early and I'm buying more polkadot with this latest dip. Cosmos interoperability tech is awesome and will be helpful for many projects. But ultimately it is inferior to polkadot architecture. My comments were meant for the longer term, we are still early. But yes, auctions are ending every couple weeks now. I have high hopes for the next bull cycle. Also don't forget the rewards that are given by parachain winners if you lock your dot to support them. So far I have received coins from about 10 different Kusama and polkadot projects and thanks to new defi protocols you can continue to stake your contributed dot at close to 20% while it's locked.

Can DOT's model allow it to be captured and controlled by large entities, ie can the network influence or override a specific parachain/project or do they control of their projects 2. does ATOM actually have any value or what's its main utility on the network) Thanks!

I tried to send ATOM from my device to another using QR Code, it failed, but I paid for the transaction fee, I tried once more using the address and went through successfully, but still paid another fee, and I haven't receive back the first one. Sir i have a question, Exodus deos'nt set limit for recieve any amount but set limit for withdrawal which is too high according to me. I have stuck 33 dollars in exodus due to limitions.

Cosmos has superb UX, all the Cosmos coins I've used share similar UIs. I've tried over half a dozen and they all work very similarly to each other. Greatly reduced learning curve. Figure one out, and you already know 80-90% of how other coins work.
Is it the same for Polkadot networks? I've only fiddled with DOT itself so far.

Gavin Wood stated that DOT could one day be on ATOM along with ETH and ADA, so while ATOM and DOT have a lot of similarities, I think they'll both co-exist.
A lot depends on if ATOM gets the press it deserves so it can move to the next level.
