The staff, wagasa and claw blades all look good. They really made a version of dual blades that lets you go to monsters as if you're in attack on titan.
As a long time elemental arial IG main I have to say I HAVE NO IDEA! I love the idea of the staff, but then the Wagasa and Claw Blade are so enticing! I'll have to see how I like them all before I settle
After playing for a while, the bow is genuinely my favorite ranged weapon in a hunting game. It just has such a satisfying feedback loop and is so fun to dance around monsters laying marks to burst.
I thought I'd be a Maul main, but the Nodachi's ability to charge its ultimate while attacking is pretty amazing. I can honestly see myself weapon rotating a fair bit in this.
I like more technical styles and the satisfaction of parrying so I'm definitely going for the more unique weapons like staff and the umbrella but that cannon is calling my name
Honestly Wild hearts felt like monster hunter for people who wanted monster hunter while eating for monster hunter. But as time went on it looked more like they actually had ideas on developing the formula, depending on how they improve and polish Monster Hunter could act have some competition.

@@TheNatecrowHonestly, all of the “MH-clone” games have their own charms to them. Toukiden, God Eater, Wild Hearts, even Dauntless. MH of course is far more polished, and will most likely stay that way, but I’ve personally enjoyed some of the others more. Especially God Eater, and Wild Hearts is shaping up to be pretty nice so far.
I'm definitely maining both Claw Blades and the Karakuri Staff if/when I can get my hands on this game. I'm a sucker for flashy, super speedy type weapons(like the Dual Blades) and also weapons that can transform mid combo(like the Switch Axe).
Honestly... of all the things that would make trying the weapons better that was in monster hunter... the Hunter's Guide basic weapon combos being available to read. Closest thing I've found is using the "Weapon Tutorial" mode on the karakuri bear in Minato with the bow, might try it with all the weapons I have available soon. Trying to keep up with learning my options on the top right while fighting is harsh. A Simple readout of move paths would be great. Have done a hunt with Katana, Wagasa, Maul, and Nodachi already, Katana and Wagasa were probably the more amicable to me, my first 2 carts were with trying the Nodachi on Kingtusk. Looking forward to Cannon/Staff, and while I figure I won't like Claw, but get my hands on experience first before judgement. Biggest problem I've had so far in the opening segment, is the monster's feel far less "solid" in WH than MH, I found that I really easily passed through the monster on many attacks.
So I did not know Omega Force developed this game, EA plastered their name all over it (as per usual). That gives me TONS of confidence on the quality of this game since Omega Force always does an amazing job with their Warriors series, and the gameplay proves it. Really excited about this one!
For wagasa players i recommend maining another weapon too bcs some kemonos might have a unpredictable moveset so maining a second or third is really good and instead of ls from mh rise you depend on parrying with wagasa
I'm still all in with my choices! I'm gonna go Karakuri Staff as my main with the Claw Blades as my secondary. I'm a big fan of transforming weapons and weapons with flashy attacks plus I main CB in monster hunter so these are right up my alley.
I'm one of those unicorn lance users in MH. I've mained lance since Gen Ultimate, and I've not looked back. That said, I have a real love for what I call "aggressive defense" so I'm really hoping the umbrella fills that need. Although I'm sad there's no straight-up guard for safety, I'm sure I'll pick up the parry well enough after some time.
Lance counter is hella fun, although I would probably love Wagasa the lack of weight and too much mobility does make it seems like a completely different weapon, it feels more like LS instead but i gotta wait and see after I master it
i like glass cannon weapons to elaborate - I like weapons with high risk high reward mechanics. as an example is for me the long sword from MH is not a glass cannon weapon. (just because of the moves) a greatsword and HBG(without shield) is what I consider I damage and high risk, high reward. High damage but low mobility. and the cannon so far is the most appealing among all the weapons in wildhearts
but of course there are times that i just want to turn off my brain and hack and slash monsters so it is fun to try the fast weapons for a change. especially the glave weapon. transforming weapons are both fun and cool to look at
the staff feels like such a glass cannon for me so far, You have to juggle your combo bar and fill it up as much as possible, it can actually decay if you waste too much time building it as well. there arent many defence options for it and you are building up to your massive sword hit that has always staggered a creature for me. The Nodachi feels very greatsword/Hammer mix too. So far the Bow, Hand Cannon, Maul all have felt the safest and consistent for me. I typically run (in monster hunter) Gunlance and Lance which there doesnt seem like there is a clear comparative weapon for me so far lol. Ive been mostly playing with the (in wild hearts) Bow which I find enjoyable with big hits of staggers and damage, The Maul which feels very balanced and skill based, and the Staff which I find to be too glass cannony/too much like a Charge Blade without the guard points or red shield.
Guess if I get my hands on this game at some point, I would go for the Wagasa. The fact that you literally are fighting with a umbrella is kinda cool and exotic, but I must admit that personally I am missing a support weapon though
Yea, as a hunting horn main in most mh. I figure parrying the monster is the best support I can do weapon-wise. But I will be heavy in the building or katakuris to keep my support tank role active in this game.
I think I am going to use the bow. It looks like it has some type of piercing affect. long range damage for support . Coming from monster hunter world/rise , I think this will be very exciting .
Playing the EA early play the bow has 2 modes sticky and pierce (easiest way to explain it) switch stance for each stick the monster then detonate the stuck arrows when you switch to piercing each stance has different stages of charge which change the amount or power of your shots depending on what stance you're in it's a juggling act but it's nice
The first guy said sticky and piece.. not really.. think of it as sticky and spread (horizontal bow stance), along with regular and charged (vertical bow stance) shots… the (horizontal stance) spread shots stick to the monster, and explode when the monster is hit with a (vertical stance) charged shot.. so you can just line the monster with spread shots as they stick followed by a charged shot to proc the explosions and nuke the monster.. do it 2-3 times and monster dead
I wanna try staff but haven’t got it yet using the umbrella. Enjoying the gameplay of it. I wanna do something that doesn’t remind me of Monster Hunter.
I thought I was gonna be playing the claw weapon since I played insects glaive in MH. But since it wasn't unlocked at first I tried out a couple and the maul was such a fun thing to pull off. Even after unlocking the other weapons, I tried them, like the agile claw I was excited for, and went "this is boring" and went back to the maul. I'm not the best at games like this, and mainly just use the main hammer down combo. But together with all the different structures you can use in a fight, it makes it pretty easy to be immobile (even though I mostly just use the hammer structure)
Staff seems interesting depending on how exactly the forms function. I usually end up playing everything in these games like in most Monster Hunters I play 13 weapons with the exception of Glaive, I don't dislike the weapon but the maintenance cost of extracts feels separate from the rest of the weapon compared to others like Horn, CB, Swaxe where they're more tied together and I don't feel like it does enough element compared to the fast weapons or enough raw compared to something like Hammer especially in the newer games where Rodeo God doesn't exist and Hammer even has Charge Master now so element isn't even a meme anymore. Overall I'm pretty on the fence about the game mostly because I have to clean out my current Steam library before I can really justify another MH-type game but I think there's a lot of interesting stuff they can build on in DLC/updates and future sequels so I'm definitely keeping my eye on it
It's so hard to pick a favorite weapon in this game when they are all so much fun! In all the MH games I mostly stuck with Long Sword and Bow. Every now and then I'd switch to a Greatsword, but I didn't really enjoy most of the other weapons. That's something I really enjoyed about Toukiden series as well :).

Honestly surprised we finally got a new monster hunter like game that is not Toukiden or God Eater. I love the genre and I'm always up for more good MH like game and I don't know why the Dev is Always JP for these kinda game with the exception of Dauntless I feel like just like Stylish Action game genre, despite the popularity there is barely any game in the genre with only few top tier franchises in comparison to the Souls Like Genre or fighting game or JRPG etc, which is a shame.
honestly, none of these are really speaking to me, the only ones that kinda intrest me is the blade umbrella and hammer (big fan of hammer in MH). in MH i always like the SnS, hammer, lance, hunting horn, and charge blade
I love the karakuri katana. As a longsword main for monster Hunter, this game offers a nice gimmick for the katana and speed and mobility are the biggest contributors for me😊
Nodachi needs a massive buff. Compared to the feel and output of the maul its VERY average. This may change with specific charging skills on armor but yeah

man, the nodachi movements look really soapy compared to the heaviness it's supposed to have. at 1:51 and then at 1:58, the "split ground" effect is so obviously detached from the impact of the blade.
Only saw a trailer of this game last night and already love how it looks, the Cannon is up my street as in Monster Hunter, I've stuck yo using the HBG (Heavy BowGun) and it's been my goto since Monster Hunter Rise came to Xbox, I can't wait to get my hands on this game and play for myself

I feel weird, I'm actually attracted to a ranged weapon for once. The Cannon looks SO, SO fun, I won't know until I actually use the thing but its glorious finishers look brilliant. I'll probably try the Karakuri Staff at first, the versatility looks fun and that ultra greatsword form makes literally every greatsword I've ever seen look pathetic by comparison but I'll definitely consider the giant laser gun.
The Insect Glaive lunatic in me likes the idea of the Clawed Blade, Swaxe and Charge Blade enjoyer in me sees the Staff and it ignites neurons. Early weapons I'm think either Hammer, Cannon or just stay with the Katana.
You got me completely torn I always play greatsword and was fully keyed to that but my off weapon has long been insect glave and now you are telling me the staff is an even bigger greatsword...
I'm torn between Claw Blade and Nodachi. Basically polar opposites lol I use Ganon in Smash Bros. Nodachi seems so satisfying like the big smash with Ganon.
At this point, I am leaning on both the umbrella and the standard katana. I usually like “defensive options” as my go to, but if that is off the table, then whatever could be seen as good in that moment. I guess there are three weapons I can’t touch yet until full release (playing the trail mode at the moment), but I do love the umbrella’s crazy output while the katana seems like a nice balanced weapon to use. Never been one for ranged weapons in these games and the mail and the bigger blade felt a bit slow for me. Want to try that staff and the airborne blades though to know for sure.
Really wanted to play the staff but after using it and realizing it's not a "staff" and more a, build up your gauge to swing a colossal sword, I was extremely let down. Just ended up sticking with the katana thus far.
I've always been in love with cb and bow. Im gonna try bow, staff (wich is similar to cb for the one in many arma), and umbrella cose i love the Parry timings reminding me as well as cb
All these weapons are great, but claw blade and karakuri staff seem to have gotten some NICE treatment. I think I'll likely use claw blade Aot is prolly my favorite show of all time. That claw blade let's me live that fantasy even MORE than beyblade dual blades in mh 😂 I am a cb/SnS main though, so karakuri staff seems to fit those a little more.
Think I'll go for the Longsword like Kakuri Katana. Sadly I don't think the staff fits with my Switch Axe wielding self so gotta go for my second favorite MH weapon type.
Doesn't look like there are any shield/block weapons in this game? I usually roll Lance on unfamiliar content in MH, and ran mostly Naginata on Toukiden (that parry was funAH). So guessing the umbrella is probably my best bet here? Thx for the vid.

I'm eyeing maul because boy oh boy I like 2 things in life, big bonk, and beeg speen. Maul has both.
Definitely going with the Bladed Wagasa and maybe Karakuri Staff.
I feel weird, I'm actually attracted to a ranged weapon for once. The Cannon looks SO, SO fun, I won't know until I actually use the thing but its glorious finishers look brilliant. I'll probably try the Karakuri Staff at first, the versatility looks fun and that ultra greatsword form makes literally every greatsword I've ever seen look pathetic by comparison but I'll definitely consider the giant laser gun.
I'm a MH veteran that's used to playing a long sword. So I'm thinking the Katana.
i hope weapons is balanced so not only certain weapons so buffed in everything while some others gets nerfed in late postgame
The Insect Glaive lunatic in me likes the idea of the Clawed Blade, Swaxe and Charge Blade enjoyer in me sees the Staff and it ignites neurons. Early weapons I'm think either Hammer, Cannon or just stay with the Katana.
If it's modable for the offline play, then it's a perfect wrap
Hand cannon and bow look sexual but honestly every weapon looks fun as hell in this game.

You got me completely torn I always play greatsword and was fully keyed to that but my off weapon has long been insect glave and now you are telling me the staff is an even bigger greatsword...

I'm torn between Claw Blade and Nodachi. Basically polar opposites lol I use Ganon in Smash Bros. Nodachi seems so satisfying like the big smash with Ganon.
At this point, I am leaning on both the umbrella and the standard katana. I usually like “defensive options” as my go to, but if that is off the table, then whatever could be seen as good in that moment. I guess there are three weapons I can’t touch yet until full release (playing the trail mode at the moment), but I do love the umbrella’s crazy output while the katana seems like a nice balanced weapon to use. Never been one for ranged weapons in these games and the mail and the bigger blade felt a bit slow for me. Want to try that staff and the airborne blades though to know for sure.
I was able to get to chapter 2 (where you unlock the other 3 weapons) with about 4 hours to spare.

@@mas8705 you can go back to the first chapter on tbe main map and do old quests without issue as well from what I can tell.
Really wanted to play the staff but after using it and realizing it's not a "staff" and more a, build up your gauge to swing a colossal sword, I was extremely let down. Just ended up sticking with the katana thus far.
The same dev of toukiden kiwami and toukiden 2, they definitely have enough experience in monster hunter like game.

I've always been in love with cb and bow. Im gonna try bow, staff (wich is similar to cb for the one in many arma), and umbrella cose i love the Parry timings reminding me as well as cb

Taking a long time to unlock the weapons. I didn't want to focus on the main story but looks like I have to if I want to use the other weapons.

All these weapons are great, but claw blade and karakuri staff seem to have gotten some NICE treatment. I think I'll likely use claw blade
Aot is prolly my favorite show of all time. That claw blade let's me live that fantasy even MORE than beyblade dual blades in mh 😂 I am a cb/SnS main though, so karakuri staff seems to fit those a little more.
Ive been enjoying the bladed ugasa but the blades look great too
Im going for the maul! It was my fave weapon for mh and dauntless.
Think I'll go for the Longsword like Kakuri Katana. Sadly I don't think the staff fits with my Switch Axe wielding self so gotta go for my second favorite MH weapon type.

Doesn't look like there are any shield/block weapons in this game? I usually roll Lance on unfamiliar content in MH, and ran mostly Naginata on Toukiden (that parry was funAH). So guessing the umbrella is probably my best bet here? Thx for the vid.

I swiitch up weapons in monster hunter but mainly use bow dual blades or gs.... Staff looks cool in this gonna wait for it to be on sale though
I'm pretty torn myself. its between the claw blade, the staff, or the katana.
I want to try other weapons. The problem is that it would require me not using the bow. And the bow is so fun

ranged user generally and i'm not sure how i feel about this bow. Its feels far more clunky even than monster hunters. Still early on, but we will see.
So I can choose between playing Sekiro, Horizon Zero Dawn, Dynasty Warriors and FF15? Sounds good!
