  • Trump appointed more federal judges in 4 years than any other modern president. Biden is trying to catch up, but there’s a problem: Senator Dianne Feinstein, the crucial vote on judges, is MIA and no one knows when she’s coming back.
Correction: Senator Feinstein was hospitalized two months ago, but has spent most of the time since recuperating at home.

This probably should apply to us president and senators imo. it's done in the us with national standardized testing for university entry in the us, and i think it can also be done for older adults who wish to keep working even though for the last 100 years or so anyone of that age would have retired and collected pension (frequently from both a federal pension and a private, employer sponsored retirement account). to be clear, i think this is only a very small part of what will be needed to keep pensions working in the long run.

Presidents shouldn't be able to appoint judges at all. It completely defeats the purpose of separating the branches of government. We need to start seriously questioning why we hold on to so many outdated systems and laws that were designed for a time when it would take months for people in different parts of the country to communicate and the average person would only ever know at most a handful of individuals of any specialized profession. We can do better now.

The problem isn't that Presidents appoint and the Senate confirms. The problem is the two-party one-party system the US has developed which rules the whole country from the suburbs of DC. If you don't run as one of the two, even in local elections, you're essentially guaranteed to lose. And if you run as one of the two, you have to go along with what they want.

I don’t even know why you’d want to be in office at that age. It makes absolutely zero sense other than enormous ego. She ain’t becoming president, so what is she trying to prove or do?
    Should’ve retired 20 years ago.
