The gambling wouldn't be so bad if they were doing their promotions themselves but the NBA throws it in your face in game, during commercial breaks and during NBA shows. It's suffocating. Couple that with player's seeming to turn it on whenever and whatever it makes you question their integrity in regards to betting.
1). Reason no.1: The league as a whole + media does a horrendous job promoting the younger superstars over Lebron. It is actually very detrimental to the league that all they talk about are 99% about Lebron and the Lakers. 2). Reason no.2: Each NBA team needs to have a unique identity like eg. In the 80s Lakers were a running team, the Pistons focused more on physicality + their defense and the Celtics were more of a halfcourt team but have balanced scoring + good defensive team as well. Now all modern teams all have the same formula for success that is hoisting threes.
Reason 3, the media has conditioned the fans to say the regular season doesn't matter. It's only what you do in the Finals that count. So why would a casual pay attention to regular season matches if you are told it doesn't mean anything?
I absolutely agree. With reason two, I also believe that team’s are best when their identity matches that of the city. Like with LA having flashy teams like their celebrity culture; the Pistons having grinding on defense and being physical like our negative stereotypes.

The players today openly despise the fans. They load manage and try to play as few games as possible, don’t put any effort into the defensive side of the court, and the constant three point contest with most of them being uncontested, and their inability to get offensive rebounds. Those are just some of the reasons the product has gone downhill and the numbers prove it. Thr NFL has all the streaming nonsense as well and we pay for it because the product is worth it. Their numbers aren’t in the toilet. Nobody is subscribing to anything to watch guys end up not playing. It’s clear as day.

Yeah, watching a three point contest is not entertaining. Neither is watching teams just quit, or not care about the regular season like players have repeatedly said. Why would the fans watch something the players themselves say don't matter? Load management is an issue, too; especially when thinking about going to a live game. Commentary is annoying and too non-basketball related and same with players crying about how little their earn which is tone deaf to the fans. Narratives are too extreme and one week a player can be top 5 and then two weeks later saying they should retire, Stephen A. Sports betting has taken over the commercials and discussions. Generally it's getting dramatic and people tone in for an escape from life not to listen about it. Players treating fans like garbage too.
I gotta agree with your take Let’s be real NBA fans spend 90% of their time trying to discredit somebody. The sense that negativity is what drives the NBA conversation is really just a result of the last CBA that led to the beginning of the modern player empowerment era. Seeing great players signing extensions and then demanding trades while still expecting the loyalty and praise that true franchise players get is naturally irritating even if ppl don't 100% realize it. I'm relatively new to watching the NBA. I've been enjoying this season a lot. I also like the NBA Cup. The league isn't perfect, but it is enjoyable and fun to watch it.
There are no reason to watch the league no player rivalries everyone plays the same stars are aging stars are unlikable and don't play league is extra soft
You know, many people are casuals. Me included. I just watch nba for some fancy plays and stars. But i see embid, or any players load managing. Refs sucks. 3 pointer is so boring. Gambling.
i love your videos mr tooforone, but I personally disagree. the defense, especially this season, has been pretty good and I really like the in-season tournament. but for me the main issue is i think there is a lack of offensive variety and creativity that does make games less fun to watch. I have been watching a lot of throwback games to try and identify why and in what ways the NBA feels different (and worse). 1. the fact that coaches and teams are SO heavily encouraging players to take threes genuinely makes for a less enjoyable watching experience. this is because it stifles the different playing styles that we used to see. the top 10 scorers in 2011, for example, all had very distinctly different ways of scoring, and it felt as if you were getting something different watching different games. now, the game is so optimised that no matter wat team you watch (especially the mid teams) its the same thing. some variation of pick and roll, DHO, or perimeter isolation on a mismatch, then draw two to the ball, kick out to shooters. when you are seeing pretty much the same thing on most possessions, it does become repetitive and wearing. the warriors are a perfect example of this. despite being the team that started the 3 point revolution to the extent that it is today, they are one of the most fun teams to watch on offense. they run extremely creative and interesting sets, prioritise scoring from all levels and try to get players in rhythm and play to their strengths within the offense. the offensive creativity and feeling of surprise when they run a great play, as well as their swarming activity on defense is so refreshing and fun to watch. the homogeneity issue also extends to positions. everyone is pretty much a guard, just different sizes. this also compounds the repetitive feeling. why tf is victor shooting 8 threes a game at 7'5. he needs guard like skills to be great yes, but apart from catching lobs, offensively I don't really see him do much else other than play like a guard. 2. it feels as if now, the three is being valued more than a layup which is its own shift. like from the start of the pace and space era (2020) to about 2020 it felt as if although the value of the three pointer was steadily increasing, the layup was still king - getting to the rim and making a close shot, for every player on the floor, was what was most important. but in the last 2 years especially, it feels like EVERY POSSESSION teams settle for a jumpshot for some reason. and you cant shoot the midrange, so it just ends up that a majority of shots ends up being a three. it feels like even in isolation, the three is preferred above the easiest shot in basketball and it makes a big different to the viewing experience. instead of putting pressure on the rim and "creating" a shot there, it feels like teams are just playing percentages and waiting for a shot to go in. and i do mean this for all teams, except like the rockets. the possesions changing from prioitising generating rim shots vs prioitising generating thress makes it feel like players are being restricted into a formula, rather than displaying their offensive creativity in the different ways they score. anthony edwards was one of my favourite players last year, but his shot diet now is just not as much fun to watch as the craft and skill he has getting to the rim and making layups. its not only reserved to him - bam adebayo, jimmy butler, shai, lebron, brandon ingram, donovan mitchell etc. All excellent at the rim, but because they have adjusted their shot diet, not only are many of them playing worse, but they simply arent as much fun to watch forcing up shots that the math says its good to take, rather than being the dynamic interesting players that we know they are. players being robots all doing the same thing isn't fun to watch. imma use the warriors as an example again. on any given play, it feels as if the ideal is a layup, and they play off of that with their cutting and movement. the three is the counter, not the goal (or at the very least, that's how it feels). that's why it feels like good basketball and it isn't super boring when someone shoots a three - it was well-generated and is a good shot. this is very different to a lot of threes taken in the NBA today, which just feel like shots taken "because threes > two" rather than because that three specifically is valuable. not all threes (and shots) are created equally 3. personally, i hate the new scoreboard designs and graphics. they are somehow too flashy and distracting and yet also incredibly boring and generic. they are simply bad and feel soulless. looking back at any graphics pre-2017 (especially the gorgeous 2016 finals graphics) they made each game feel like a special event and that is lost now. 4. i personally don't have that much of an issue with load management as other people, but at the same time, i watch games to see my favourite players, and if i know they're out i simply wont watch. i wont get upset about it because these players playing as much as they do, at the level they do is incredible, but I'm also not gonna be interested in the game anyways. 5. finally, we are also in a transition period where the young stars arent as established and it does feel like there is a hodge-podge of new faces that we don't know as well and therefore don't care about as much. these younger players not in their primes are simply not as good as they will be yet and therefore arent as enjoyable as like 2018 lebron or 2016 steph or 2019 kawhi. we need to be patient and give them time to grow into themselves and the league i waffled a lot but those are some of my thoughts that i tried to flesh out more than "threes are bad" and "players are entitled". with that being said I still really really enjoy the modern product and have fun watching the games. I just also agree that the product is slightly worse and has issues that it didn't before.
I would even say that the stage of capitalism we are in is a main cause. The nba is a bussiness and all it cares about is money. They dont care about actual fans cause they are getting tons of cash from sports betting companies and other outside advertising.
There’s no game plan anymore. It’s scatter ball till there’s an open 3. Or ISO then shoot a 3. You got 1 guy shooting or making as many 3’s as an entire team shooting them back then lol.
Bro the nba is bad. That’s been my opinion for almost a decade now. I’m not following any trend I honestly think the game is just not that interesting anymore.
Buddy- you demonstrated exactly why the NBA definitely 'isn't like it used to be'. Even if you don't realize it. From the absurd and constant travels and flopping, to the notion that an athlete somehow needs an incentive (beyond tens of millions a year) just to show up 80% of the time. The players have no competitive spirit, no connection to the fanbase and consider the individual above the team. I'd say the reason why 20 points isn't enough anymore is entirely due to the new NBA playing zero defense. The average fan doesn't have a 'narrative' they are simply dissatisfied with the product on offer. Anybody who has been fortunate enough to watch NBA basketball for more than 25 or 30 years has a hard time watching today's game. That, I can tell you. Doesn't mean that it's all bad, or that there aren't greats on the court right now- just that their motivations, character and competitiveness are not as compelling, and it shows. Just one old heads opinion.
So your point is all the fans are wrong lol if nobody is watching cause they don't like it that's kind of it,you sound like politics "all of you are wrong for how you feel shame on you
@@KB8Killa i know they get paid tens of millions each year to physically exert themselves and they cant do that but only a small handful of players are guilty of this. The games are still extremely entertaining i think this issue is made to be much larger than it actually is
its the gambling, 3 pointers, and refs.

I agree and disagree.. thumbs up from me tho.
Bro the nba is bad. That’s been my opinion for almost a decade now. I’m not following any trend I honestly think the game is just not that interesting anymore.
Ok 😂

Its just goofy
Face reveal?
Good sheit
Dog doo doo take lol
2:53 you are not Black. You have no business using the N word. Unsubscribed
Yeah that was it for me too, that's some poppycock, flimflam, spongledangz, bollocks, tomfoolery 🚮
Lol how you know he not black
So your point is all the fans are wrong lol if nobody is watching cause they don't like it that's kind of it,you sound like politics "all of you are wrong for how you feel shame on you
NBA superstars are upset they are held to higher standard
nba is ok... people moaning for little reason
Why are you settling for ok? These guys get paid too much for 'ok'
@@KB8Killa i know they get paid tens of millions each year to physically exert themselves and they cant do that but only a small handful of players are guilty of this. The games are still extremely entertaining i think this issue is made to be much larger than it actually is
Exactly
The second they put black lives losers on the court is the second I stopped watching 😂
Because your probably racist honestly
You weren't needed anyway. You still aren't.
@MrT571 Black lives losers is a scam and you fell for it 🤣
