Way too much common sense wrapped up in under two minutes. Treat everyone equally, put regulations on cigarette manufacturers, help people to stop being bitten by rats in their homes, and end the damn war that's only being fought over ideology. Can't have a guy like that running the country.
@@HariOm-dp7um don't be silly. A moron like Trump can't hold a candle to the Kennedys. Btw why did he not release the classified JFK docs? Why does Joe not release the files? Do they have something in common? Yup! They both did not release the files..
I still feel the loss of Robert Kennedy very acutely 52 years later. It still fills me with an indescribable and oppressive sadness, really despair. I cannot stand to watch footage of his assassination and his funeral.
He would have been a disaster. He was an angry little man that wasn't well liked among many in the Democrat Party. He made enemies quickly and he would have been remembered as the man that split the Democrat Party instead of McGovern. He would have been an impotent Jimmy Carter-like figure that led to an ultra-conservative backlash in '72.
Had RFK not been assassinated, we would not have had Nixon, his political divisiveness, Kissinger, Cambodia, and Watergate. RFK had the support of the blue collar and the African American, and would have brought the country closer together. It's difficult to see exactly what he would have done about Vietnam. Would the US have gotten out earlier than April 30, 1975? We'll never know.
I do think that Robert Francis Francis Kennedy could have made a pretty good president had he lived long enough to win the nomination at the 1968 Democratic Convention. But let me say this: I will always believe that as Attorney General under his brother's administration he felt compelled to "tow the family line" often in contradiction to his own moral conscience and personal philosophy. But in some strange twist of fate it took the horrific and tragic death of his brother to force him to face his own demons by looking more compassionately at the world around him. The Kennedys were wealthy and highly esteemed by the wealthy and highly esteemed while millions outside of their aristocratic circle of influence lived in abject poverty and social deprivation. This really worked his conscience overtime and the latter chapter of his life proves that. Case in point: name me one occasion when either JFK or his wife Jacqueline walked through the streets of urban or rural black neighborhoods at any point in their lives. When Mrs. Kennedy did travel abroad it was 80% of the time in Europe or some other exotic location. It makes good press. But to be seen galavanting in poor or impoverished communities would have caused quite a stir, especially among the Upper Crust of America's elitist culture! (Excerpt from my upcoming book "To Kill A President: The Tragic Assassination of John F. Kennedy".
I wish the entire show with Belafonte hosting could be presented. Belafonte, who is now 92, remains an outspoken humanitarian. But we lost a great deal when we lost Robert Kennedy. This country had a fighting chance at changing its direction in 1968. Instead, it went the other way and elected Richard Nixon -- prolonging the a Vietnam misadventure, coddling Calley, taking us off the gold standard, initiating wage and price controls, creating a culture of corruption and a host of other ills. There were politicians and informed laymen sixty-plus years ago who saw through Richard Nixon and knew very well what a disaster a Nixon presidency could be -- JFK and Sam Rayburn, mostly, but there were many others.
He was ahead of his time in so many issues that most people who didn't live in those troubled times that not having lived in those days really missed just hearing him and his understanding of people that he would have made a great President

He’s one of those special individuals I’d really like to see live his life in full length. It’s often tempting to put inspiring people on the pedestal. Yet, RFK is one of those who could’ve positively affected the country’s trajectory, and perhaps to a smaller extent the world’s.
