I love the moon, stars and the sky, always have. Over the years I've accumulated ridiculous amounts of washi tape, stickers and paper in this genre, so for 2025 the entire year will be dedicated to this. 😊
In 2022 my theme was nature. Each month I picked a different plant or animal that was native to the place I live. (The exceptions were fossils that have been found here, constellations visible from where I live at that time of year, as well as rivers and other bodies of water that are in the state) it was such a fun set of constraints to work within that led to a lot of fun themes for me. It's probably my favorite. This year, my theme was/is I pick one book I read the previous month and theme the coming month with quotes from it.
Oo I might try this instead of months. The months go by too fast for me to enjoy a theme, so I don't make them look as nice as I want since I only have a few weeks. Pair this with cyclic and quarterly planning and I'll be in business!
I purchased my 1st journal today, came home to find this video 1st in my feed, great timing! Love all your ideas, very helpful, thank you so much! I can't wait to start.
I just purchased the Archer and Olive Frame Wall journal for 2025, my plan is to do Frames throughout the journal and each month that has a family birthday their photo will be put on the "monthly" page. I'm only doing our immediate family not cousins and nieces/nephews or I'd be in real trouble. hahaha And since the journal is a lovely burgundy color I thought I'd go with the "antique" colors. My reading journal is totally different, each month is a different color and a different theme. I can't stand having a full journal on one theme, I get bored, but I do tend to do the color theme throughout all my journals.
I have two candles that I use as a large and a medium circle stencil. My small circle stencil is a food can. I have used bottle caps for bubbles before. I have children who are in the curious and grab stage so I try to not get a lot of tools for my BuJo and use things I have around the house.
For the year-long theme, generally I pick a washi tape that matches my journal (it has a pineapple on the cover= a pineapple tape; it's my favorite shade of green=a washi tape that's that color that I love), and choose pens/markers that compliment that tape. That way the year theme is directly influenced by the journal I'm working in ☺️
Can't believe it's already past half November! I'm going for a gothic/victorian theme for 2025, so I better start working on how to realize it. Already planned the collections needed, even got stickers, but didn't really thought about the way the spreads look and I dread the lettering so much! I have a lettering kit but buying it was all I did with it, so I think I'll take one from your book and and print the headers 🤓 work smarter, not harder!
My yearly theme would be about moving house combined with the seasons/holidays, I also find much of the pagan 'wheel of the year' is very flexible for choice. I have 8x8 in the compass, ghost, raven & snowflake note books. As far as supplies, Black Friday sale and colour palettes, I have the colour cubes. 14:41 Ooh, hexagons, I've been trying force the Erin Condren 9x7 back page down to a5.
Hi! Just watching back the stream and meanwhile planning some pages of my own. Just wanted to say, as feedback to you and your work: After my last "complaint" that I cannot design nice pages the way you do them, I took action and invested in your digital bullet journal planner. it is incredibly useful. I LOVE those spreadsheets to just draw out my boxes. My brain needed this to roughly visualize what my pages could look like (and how to pace things across a page). Nice bonus that it has so many sizes of journals already made, because I use several of those sizes regularly. Plus, if I use the digital planner on my ipad, I can even trace through thinner bullet journal pages.
@@JashiiCorrin and it's versatile. there is no one way to do light academia - yeah, there are some staples like books, art, flowers, but you can add things to it and it always looks new.
Hey Jess! I was wondering if you have a video dedicated to the different lettering styles you use in your journals? I found the fauxligraphy in your free resources (I think thats where it was) and was wondering if there's more of it. Unfortunately, I just got to your livestream towards the end but really enjoyed the comfy flipthrough 😄
Hey Lisa 😄 We have a few videos about lettering on the channel, a lot of those featuring different styles I like to use. Those are all found in this playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLFmDbK4-NLnlFPIbwmNTlJ4NTpsCHoxQn Hope that helps!
I want to use my current jounrnal for the start of 2025, there is plenty of space left and I don't want to waste paper. Therefore my opening pages are going to be simple and non time consuming. I only have the days between christmas and new years eve to set it all up. I'm currently into planning it out, so I only have to create the pages itself without thinking of the order of the pages at this point.
Hi Jess, I'm enjoying your content and thinking about my 2025 bujo setup. I love the idea of printing out headers, but not sure how to get the fonts. do you have a favourite site?
Thank you for the tips. Would you mind sharing the name of the person that did the yearly themed Disney princesses layouts? I wanted to look but could find her. It was something like Marisa Casim. Thanks
She put all the setups in this playlist if that helps: ruclips.net/p/PLXS8_RkNPBPwpoI7-huqf3xtbvqT3qldH&si=eeeEqBSv7oAQukBj She doesn’t really do bullet journal content anymore 💜

You have the most calming voice ever. I could listen to you talk all day. And currently these videos help me stay focused at work. So thank you. ❤
Most welcome! Glad you find them helpful 😄💜

Those are both great year long themes 😄💜
I usually only get 3-4 months out of my journal so I tend toward the seasons. I love a winter theme like no other
Had never thought of that but that's how I do my stickers/decorating so maybe should do my Jim journals in chunks like that.

I'm so glad you made this video this really helps me because I am making my first ever journal for next year! thank you❤
Glad it was useful for you 😄💜
@@sarahlingham5828 same here. Currently collecting all the ideas on the channel!
Me too
Enjoyed this video so much. Great ideas.
Glad you liked it! 😄💜
Amazing Jess! Love how you breakdown the considerations and various aspects of themes. Great catalyst for thinking it through, thanks 😊

Post live viewer: we need a special emoji that we can use in your everyday journal video to highlight that we’ve seen the sneakpeaks already 😝😝
Agreed. 😂

Aww yay! 🥳 I’m so glad you’re getting good use out of it 😄 I find it really helpful, so it’s always nice to hear that other people do too 💜
You should make a long video of flip through of all of your journals and as your doing each one tell us what you would different
For two years in a row I had a bookish/light academia theme for the first general setups.
That’s a great theme to come back to 👏
