Yes Jay was definitely one of the best performers as he is one of Texas Tejano’s top legends. I used to do security at the clubs he would sing at in West Texas and I saw all of the Tejano stars a few times, including Selena. Jay’s nick-name is “La Voz” because he can sing his ASS off.

Recuerdo que me ya sabía de selena llegué a Texas y los camaradas ponian Kick FM tejano me molestaba por ser de la capital de México pero me fui enamorado del tejano con tantos exponentes como este señor Elida y Avante , Garcia Brothers Emilio hasta la fecha los escucho me avente 2 horas buscando esta canción hasta llegar que Jay hizo un performance de esta canción de Selena fui a Corpus para ver su museo y con gran suerte su padre compartió historias de ella nos invitó al estudio donde grabaron sus exitos , el señor exclamó " ya pegamos duro hasta Monterrey " le dije interrumpiendo su historia " no señor Selena ya conquistó la Ciudad de México no la vi allá tampoco acá mis mas sentidas condolencias.

Univision spent almost 3 million dollars to put this show on television, I had to fight with them to put Jay perez and Bobby Pulido on the show. Univision has always discriminated against Tejano music and let me inform you why. in the last 15 or 20 years, thousands of people from Mexico have migrated to the U S and now there are more of them here, and so now the Mexican Americans (chicanos) have become the minority. Mexicans from across the border have become a bigger market and the American corporations are catering to them cause there is more Money, its all about The mighty DOLLAR. Just look at Univision and you see nothing but groups from Mexico cause they are going for the ratings the bigger the ratings they charge more for their commercials and make more money. That is the reason that I had to fight to get Jay and Booby on the show. Instead of griping everybody should start a petitition and try to force Univision and Telemundo to not discriminate against our music and our culture, and maybe some BOYCOTTS. this also applies to Radio Stations they changed their format to regional Mexican music and they don't play our music.

Some ppl are right about how Univision gave little attention to da real Tejano stars. Especially Jay Perez LA VOZ. He did one of the best performances of Selena song Yo te sigo queriendo. Thalia was terrible and Olga Tanon was the worse I felt she didn't even took time to practice the song. What a shame of Olga wwith dat beautifl voice she has I thought she didn't even took pride of what she was honoring. She mess up the whole song.

The dancers had no business up there. What the heck is wrong with them LOL. Other than that this guy is great. One of the best singers at the Selena Vive concert. Puro Tejano!

Some ppl are right about how Univision gave little attention to da real Tejano stars. Especially Jay Perez LA VOZ. He did one of the best performances of Selena song Yo te sigo queriendo. Thalia was terrible and Olga Tanon was the worse I felt she didn't even took time to practice the song. What a shame of Olga wwith dat beautifl voice she has I thought she didn't even took pride of what she was honoring. She mess up the whole song.

Yo tambien pienso lo mismo. Like Thalia she messed up the song as well as Paulina Rubio. I think the real Tejano artist are the ones that put on a good show. But I do have to admit I like the way La India sang wow she can sing.
