Glad you hit "The Great Divide" with the *"Not you"* when talking about well-written episodes lmao
but of course!
I find penultimate stories to be some of the best parts of shows like Avatar. When done well, they clearly show the passion the writers have for their work while also getting you excited for the big finale. Dipper and Mabel vs the Future raised the stakes for the characters, which directly resulted in the events of the finale. Heaven Sent is thought to be the best episode of Doctor Who because of its beautiful portrayal of grief. Taking the time to show why you should care about the main characters before seeing their struggles in the ending is such an important part of storytelling.
I couldn't agree more. Gravity Falls is a fantastic example as well. These types of episodes are incredibly vital to an overarching series. Well said!
The play portrays Fire Lord Ozai as a prime example of caricatured evil. I mean, maybe that beard is different in the world of Avatar, but in our world that is a stereotypical "evil" beard. The playwright has fire nation sponsorship for writing his play and the actors are probably like the other members of the nation believing in the greatness of their nation. Also, doesn't Ozari's laughter in this episode sound like a villain? I wonder if the players subconsciously believe that while the _fire nation and its royal family_ are great, they might not trust their current leader leader. It seems that they are poking fun at Ozai.
W video. I cant wait for the movie next year!!
This is my favorite episode of Avatar and always has been. It really is perfect. (And while I wouldn’t call The Great Divide perfect, I’ve never understood the shit it gets from fans of the show. It’s a decently fun episode, and it importantly shows at the end that Aang is willing to do whatever it takes to make peace (not unlike Kyoshi).
I can see that tbh. I think for me personally, its the amount of times I've seen the great divide that really ruined it for me. That aside, this episode is easily one of my favorites as well. It's just a treat!
Nice video
Nice comment
