Good for Craig Jones and his sponsors. Its great to see competition off the mats. I think the ADCC Changing venues and spending $2 Million on lights and fireworks n shit should have went to the competitors. 10K vs a potential 1M, sheeeit!
Yeah, I'm hoping this is a good wakeup call for them. Start getting these pro athletes payed and a career path for those that follow.

@@40ANDFIGHTING You are right this should be a wakeup call for ADCC. Also, most likely Saudi Arabia is looking at all this wondering how they can get involved. Especially because the foundation/tournament style is already laid, all they have to do is give money, thats easy for them. They want their hands in everything sports right now. I'm sure you are familiar with what they are doing with LIV Golf. This is a wonderful time for Jiu Jitsu right now, glad CJ had the heart to take on the big boys.

Great discussion… I have a suspicion that Craig is partnering with ufc fight pass connections for CJI… and if he is… watch out ADCC and flo, it’s gonna be great production quality. OR he’s partnering with Asim and karate combat…..

$2 Million USD in prize money is quite the "moat" to build around your JJ tournament straight out the gate. That makes me wonder if this is a one-off sort of deal and the prize money will drop significantly next year. CJ needs a lot of sponsors forking over the money to maintain any decent production and $2M USD prize money.
I wouldn't be surprised if he is partnerning with Karate Combat to make this happen, I highly doubt he is working with the UFC. The format of JJ tournaments could use some changing around, thinking outside of the box always helps. Just because somehting was done a certain way doesn't mean that there isn't a better way to do it. Props to CJ for going head-to-head against ADCC. Let's see how it all plays out.
UFC fight pass is investing a ton into jiu jitsu but you would think if they were a part of it they would have their name on it.
Yeah, I think even if it's a one off, as you said it shows things can be better. Jusy, maybe it triggers something for ADCC to really pay its athletes. Either way, I think it's great for the sport and high level competitors. It's disheartening to see the pro level guys and woman struggling when they put so much of them self's into it. @@40ANDFIGHTING I think there needs to be a shift in the JJ community and the athletes needs to learn to utilize their sponsors/network. The promoters need to stop paying for flights and hotel and tell the athletes to take care of that themselves, control your own schedule. Take that money and invest it in the prize funds in some form.
@jbevolve2023 yeah, we were talking about that. So much money left on the table by not knowing how to brand and market themselves.
