I feel like so many people genuinely struggle with self love and its so refreshing to see it expressed in the form of music, not something we usually get.
This might genuinely be the song played at my funeral. Amazing message and the way Caleb has overcome his demons and channeled it into a positive outlook on life is inspiring to me
The second verse hit me so hard the first time I heard it. Caleb's transformation is so inspiring. I think The Surface may be my album of the year. So many great messages, still has the signature Beartooth sound, and its so well written. What a song, what an album
I love the new album from Beartooth. It's my favorite of the year. This positive change in Caleb I am here for. I have been a big fan of them for a few years but this side just shows how talented they truly are.
LOVE! I am so happy I found Beartooth when I did I was a metal head and was in a dark time in my life then once it started getting better started listening to country (ik don’t hate me) then found the song with HARDY and I’m happy that I can enjoy metal/metal core with a positive message. Beartooth has earned a special place in my heart for it
No longer being in my depressh-mode, this whole album just fucking resonates with me and inspires me to keep on progressing, bettering myself. This song, presonally, is my favorite off the new album. Doubt Me is a very close second.
Love! Absolutely love this record! I've always loved music I can connect with the lyrics, but I know other than a few songs here and there, most metal lyrics are background to the instrumentals. For that, I have always gone to other genres for lyrics. Bands like Blue October, Shinedown, and even country music for that matter, but I love a metal band having so many songs that me and many others can relate to lyrically. "I'll know I didn't just live, I was alive!"
The community needs more love. I didn't really click with Beartooth until this album cycle and there's something so genuine about seeing someone coming out the otherside of a struggle with a positive outlook. The new album isn't all hits for me, but I enjoyed it and it's good to see more positive messages in the space.
Seeing them in February and can't wait to hear the whole crowd belting this chorus. Caleb writes the most relatable songs and this album is such a ray of sunshine.
I actually like how approachable and mainstream many songs on this album are. I believe this is going to bring them in plenty of brand new fans, these dudes deserve it!!
Never liked Beartooth, but now they have gotten positive I am such a massive fan. Every positive song they drop is so heartwarming and amazing. Proud to be a fan of theirs
LOVE Also, apparently this song is Caleb's favorite he's ever written. With that in mind, I had initially gone into the song anticipating...more. But after a few more listens, I totally see it. Given that I've been in love with all of the singles, I'm glad to be in love with this song the same way now too.
Love ❤ I’ve been listening metal music forever and I always thought it was interesting that more people didn’t think about writing anything positive since half the time we can’t understand their screaming anyway so why can’t they scream about gratitude and life and also boundaries 😂. Ironically the last song I was listening to is about codependency and being in a toxic relationship. Dump her and write a song about it. Lol.
There’s nothing overly special about the album, but man is it good. It’s pretty “generic” rock but they’re doing it at an elite level. The lyrics throughout the whole album are amazing, I love the positive vibes metal.

This album will help so many people. So much respect for Caleb.

Agree with your review. Good to hear this from them. Really liking the new album!
Been a Toof fan since their first EP, and while the sound of Disgusting is still my favorite, the message of The Surface blows that all away.

The new album is the best thing they've done imo. More fun and less linear.
