    00:50 PLA is stronger than ABS.

    • @madebyjwillis
      @madebyjwillis  6 месяцев назад

      Depends on what you mean by “stronger” actually but generally speaking, ABS is more durable

      Quite sure it isn't. Only real benefit of ABS is its higher temperature resistance.

      “In their findings, ABS held a minimum of 209 pounds and a maximum of 284 pounds. This is pretty strong and much greater than PLA’s range of between 119 and 184 pounds. Overall, ABS is a good bit stronger than PLA, which somewhat justifies how difficult it is to print.”

    Nice video dude! That MJF benchy looks awesome, too bad that technology isn’t more accessible for consumers.

    ABS is not STRONGER than PLA, it's TOUGHER.
    The terminology makes a big difference. It's like rubber and diamonds. Rubber is tough, diamonds are strong.

    • @madebyjwillis
      @madebyjwillis  6 месяцев назад

      Again, what is your definition of strong? I did not say ABS has a higher modulus or tensile strength. If you hand a PLA print and an ABS print to a random person to use, the vast majority will say that ABS is “stronger” - again, this was not a technical video as I stated multiple times

    Fun comparison. I would have liked some more side by side and full lineup shots. Still shots of each benchy at the same angle all on screen at the same time. Compare key features in side by side frames like the roof overhangs, smoke stack, text, bottom surface, top surface. I think that kind of comparison and maybe even some kind of rating system would take comparisons like this to the next level quality and views wise.

    Now you need to order SLS, MJF, and FDM parts from all of them to compare between them lol

      They don’t all sell FDM parts (which is what I said at the beginning of the video)

      @@madebyjwillis dang. I totally missed that. I do see that many use pcbway's 3d printing service as well. Maybe a future video where you compare sls prints from all of them? That would make for an awesome video!

      @@madebyjwillis I just checked their website and he's right their sls and sla nylon prints are actually cheaper. And you can get their metal prints for similar price to some of those other plastic ones you showed (protolabs).

    On your order from Shapeways it says SLS which is selective laser sintering and uses a laser to melt and fuse the powder grains. It's pretty close to MJF regarding the part being made from powder fused together layer by layer.
