It's a very interesting and informative video. Thanks a lot. I was watching a video uploaded by an Angmo mother with her 3 kids who shows the viewers her hotel room and their eating Western breakfast and lunch in Laos in two videos and I gave up.
Thank you so much for your kind support. I will keep creating travel videos, especially about Southeast Asia (ASEAN). Please stay tuned for more videos!! :)
I lived in Vientiane from 1965 to 1975. I miss everything in this city. I miss my youth there!!! I hope I can come back for a visit soon before I leave this world. Thank you for taking me back to my childhood!!!
My pleasure. I an glad you enjoyed the video and thank you so much for watching. I have many good friends in Vientiane. Although many things have changed through the years, but what remain are the friendliness of the people and the tranquility of the city. And now, there are a lot of nice cafes around!
I want to go to Laos so bad!! Since I was young until now, school or my parents never taught, or told me about Laos and it make me very curious about this mystery country. I have met a few Laos people and they're very nice and friendly which make me want to visit Laos as soon as possible.
I love Vientiane. I was surprised how wonderful the place is. There's a new beautiful market opening on the river a little ways down from the Night Market, by the way. There's also a fabulous Chinese dumpling restaurant along the river. Friednly people, great scenery and delicious food. I hope to return soon and stay for a month!
Thanks a lot for sharing. I have many good friends in Vientiane and it is a place where I feel the warmth every time I go back. Such a relaxing place too :)
Great job. Art. Love your videos. Btw, were you a Singer with GMM Grammy? One of my best friend's was a super famous producer, who worked there for 20 years.
Kevin Reily Thanks for your message, Kevin. I used to work for Grammy in some projects, but now an independent artist. I know a lot of people in the music business. What is your friend’s name? Probably, we are friends :)
Hi Art, thank you for the videos first of all (kop kuhn krup). Have you got a few contacts in Vientiane as I will be there for 4 days from 24th Oct and it would be great to hook up with some local guides.
Thank you for watching the videos! I have used services from www.greendiscoverylaos.com and they are great. They have local guides in several locations in Laos. Wish you a GREAT trip!
Woah! I was there on the same day! I wonder why I didn't see you, probably because I didn't know you back then! Wish you could go to Paksan, Bolikhamsai, Laos And Go Explore! There's Lots Of Mountains And Good Places To Eat! If You Do Go To Paksan, I Recommend That You Try Going To Manivanh's Garden Guesthouse, Really Good Food, And Really Beautiful View And Place! I Hope You Go To Manivanh's Garden, It would mean the world to me because they are my grandma's! I Hope You Go There -A Laotian
Hi my friend, thank you so much for watching the video and for your nice message. I'd love to go back to Laos to explore more, especially at Paksan, where you recommended. Please keep updated on this channel! :)
The city is pronounced "Vieng Chanh," Not vien t iane, if you're Thai you should know, Vientiane is a French pronunciation. But thanks very much for sharing!
Khop Chai Lai Deu. I always pronounce "Vieng Chanh" as you've suggested. In this video, it is for people who might be familiar with the way it is spelled in English or French as there are audience from many countries. I appreciate your kind sharing :):)
@@ArtThomyaJourney I recently came back from Laos, so now I understand why a lot of foreigners are pronouncing "Vientiane" with the "t" although there is no "t" in there whatsoever. The Laonai people (Laotians within Laos) are telling foreigners to pronounce it that way, so its really not the foreigners fault. All this time the Laonork (Lao overseas) are trying to correct people in pronouncing it. I don't know if they realize how stupid they sound when the pronounciation of "t" is nonexisten. "Vientiane" is a French spelling, as like Venetian, Laotian, Lotion. They should change the spelling of "Vientiane" altogether to "Vieng Chanh" because its confusing to people.
Hey, a new subscriber here! By the way, you have so many informative contents, which is great! Thanks a lot! By the way, may I ask several things? How much is the bike rental there? Do we pay for daily or anything? And is it possible to visit the temple and the Presidential Palace? I mean, getting inside the places if possible. And do we get a parking area for the rented bikes? I’m afraid I’ll probably lose it. Thanks for your willingness to reply! Have a nice day! 🤗
Hi Marcus, thanks a lot for your kind support. We mostly rent a bike per day. The daily fee is approximately about 5 USD - some places can be less or more. For temples, of course, you can visit. For Presidential Palace, you cannot enter, but you can take photos from outside the gate. For parking areas, a few places have specific parking for bikes. But do not worry, you can park nearby the place you visit. They have locks and it is quite safe. Enjoy your trip!!
MO5E5 T.YILMAZ Thanks for watch! The great thing in Laos and Southeast Asia is there is a wide range of accommodations and restaurants to choose from. Also, there are still many hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Hope other videos are useful for you too. Cheers :)
Yes, Darnell! I've tried to cover every country in ASEAN (Southeast Asia). Now, I've filmed in 7 out of 10 so far. You can watch the series here >> ruclips.net/video/aOCCva7PrtA/видео.html Thanks for your support. Please stay tuned here for more videos!
Hi Pali, thank you for your feedback. The hotel I stayed is actually an 80-year old local house. The owner just turned it to be an accommodation for visitors to Vientiane because he wanted the visitors to feel like home. The interior decoration is old Laotian style. So, I just think it is a great experience and one good option for visitors. I appreciate your feedback.
Art Thomya Journey Well, my friend, I'm excited to say that yesterday was my 1st day in Vientiane, my 1st day in Laos and even though that boutique hotel is an 80 yr old house, it's the hired interior design & modern furnishings that do NOT feel like home. I travel to try & see everyday life. The label "boutique" is problematic and anathema to me as a traveler.
Sure, Pali. Welcome to Laos and hope you are having a great time :) Hope these information will be useful for your stay : bit.ly/2f9XZgN Enjoy the food too!!
TheOuisee Hello! Thanks for watching! There are two ways of pronouncing the word - the local way 'Vieng Jun' and the other way by English spelling 'Vientiane'. In this video, we chose the second way as it will not be too difficult for international audience to understand. Thank you so much for your feedback and hope other videos are useful for your next trips :)
I am Lao I need to educate foreigners to pronounce it right the way of Lao people wanted, this is Laos we call ourselves LAO not Laotian and I am careless what other countries would pronounce or call it so when you are in Rome and you must do what Roman do and of course they would appreciate our efforts. Lao people want the whole world to know or say or call us Lao not Laotian, we want to change name from Laotian to Lao only in the international dictionary, it is not going to be hard at all - applying to the same thing like Muay Thai(Thai boxing)มวยไทย, Thais don't want you or anybody else to call Thai boxing they want you all to call Muay Thai and now the whole world know Muay Thaiมวยไทย is in the international dictionary not Thai boxing. I am not so sure if you are Lao or something else but if you are Lao I hope you can say it right next time and I am appreciated you have posted in youtube for us to view, I am wondering if you get paid by doing this or just do for fun then make Mark Zuckerberg a billionaire all over again. If you have more audiences to view your work and the advertising agency will compensate your work. by the way I got BA degree from University of Minnesota working for many banks in USA and I will retire next year or so expecting to return to Laos.
Thank you so much for your kind feedback and advice. They're all valuable for the improvement of the program. I have many Lao friends and will do more contents in Laos shortly. Hope other videos in the channel are useful for you. All the best :)

Nothing much to do in Vientiane, but I like the slow pace of life here......
It's the real place to experience slow life. I like the sunset part, either at some chill bar or at Don Chan Beach. 'Don't worry. Be Happy' style. :)
