Great job! With the metallic paints you will need to spray on the color to your liking and then let dry. Once dry back it with black PS spray which will bring out the color more and make it opaque. remove window masks and spray the PS tint. Remove the outer film once all spraying has been completed. Finally, add stickers and then mask and spray on flat clear over body. The full scale is all matte finish.
Yes those Tamiya bodies will drive you nuts. I did a multi color, color changing NSX Raybrig 2004 with all decals to the box art, spent 2 days on just the body.......after a few crashes the body looked well used. Now I try to limit my body time to 2-4 hours and 1-2 colors, they all get beat up anyways.
Well despite watching several of these I completely forgot the "take your time" rule. I painted mine with PS-17 Metallic Green which in places looks amazing but there are a few errors but for a first attempt i'm fairly happy with it (my masking was rubbish and when I painted the black parts some of the paint managed to leech though onto the bodyshell so I then had to order a bottle of Tamiya polycarbonate Body Cleaner Tamiya 87118 from France as it doesn't seem to be available to buy here in the UK. It's amazing stuff though). The stickers were a huge ballache however
A trick with the decals is to use a bowl of water with a drop of detergent. This allows the decal to slide around and then use a hair dryer with a cotton bud to get it to stick and mould.
Id recommend you buy a light kit for the headlights and rear lights, I built my TT02 Ford GT using aftermarket headlight and taillight inserts with cutouts for a simple LED light, you can move/put stickers on the inserts for the front that dont cover the LED’s and it gives it a better look. (Thats my recommendation if you want to make a car that has that level of detail)
Hi Chris, have you made changes to the rear offset? I am looking at swapping my 38mm rear drives for 42mm if I can get them. The rear stance isn’t right. Too narrow. I used 1.5mm spaces on each rear. No enough at all. Needs I would say 3.5mm+ on each rear wheel. 1.5mm looks tidy on the front.
I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I paint mine before trimming. That way you've got something to hold onto while you move the body without risking nasty finger prints on your paint job. I also draw round the cut lines on the outside with a sharpie so I don't waste too much paint on the bits I'm going to cut off.

Clean it with unscented dawn soap and you won’t have that problem with the metallic and you need two super light coats with the metallics I found

I bought one of these shells last week but having only ever bought pre-painted shells before I must confess to feeling a little daunted by the task

I put different wheels and sold the originals .. they did look weird
Great job. I'm thinking that is that possible to mount LEDs on light cups to make it more shained?
I have a light kits on mine. Look cool at night.
Did you Wash the body with soap Before paint…?
yes, I didn’t put the paint on thick enough use the whole can. That was like my second body I was new
❤❤
Cool! You cut the body out after you painted it, is it the way to go?
no.. that was a mistake … drill holes and cut before paint..

Hi Chris, how much would you charge to do this kit again for someone else?
that kit was horrible.. I can sell you the body on eBay .. it has not been run same one in the video .. how much you want to give? $$$
@@chriscraft2 Actually, I’m asking because I’m wondering if you are open to custom paint projects?
@@marcussoori na.. those bodies are a lot of work
i just put the body on ebay
Cut the unnecessary body part first before painting, you will waste your paint there at unnecessary area
