My neighbours hate me now, but I was finally able to hit the highest notes on the last two verses. Thank you Patrick Walker for being one of the first people who made me start to push my own vocal limits after being so impressed with your vocals. And thank you to the band in general, I know Christian and William are instrumental in 40 Watt Sun as well. Getting to shake your hand last October before the gig was one of the highlights of my life so far. This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, will stay on my mental list of "Songs to play regularly" until I expire.
For all who want to know : The Genre is called Slowcore. If you want some similar music, check out Red House Painters, Low, Bluetile Lounge, Ghost Valley Choir, Codeine and Bedhead.
+Ali samadi I think the term you are looking for is slowcore and either way I haven't found a band quite like 40 watt sun anywhere. Its the voice I think. Would kill to have his voice
I can't believe I missed this release! This is the best album I've heard all year and naturally I went ahead and ordered a copy. Not to gush, but your music means a lot to me. Thanks for all the inspiration and the sublime moments in the past and those that lay ahead.
This song. This album. It's fuckin' perfect. The emotions are strong in this one. My favourite album of 2016. It will follow me a lot through this year too.
You have to be careful listening to Patrick's songs in public it can change your mood completely and bring you to tears in when u less spect it... Every note, every word gets under the skin...
Someone with a clearer mind than me should transcribe and post the lyrics. Ive listened to this sober, on beer, on hash and on both and the only thing I can do is space out in the beauty in the song and dynamics. Sooo Mr. untraumatized and drugfreeboy superhero do me a favour and do it
Take what you need Or all you can save; All you ever wanted will burn in a blaze. Look not for the ending - The end is unmade; All you ever lived for will carry these days Far beyond the ties of time. The shrill streaks of morning ignite some closing loss And the silence speaks more human weight Than you've ever known; For words are like weapons That only will disclose your weakness. But all that was breaking, All that was stone, Are as far beyond you as the stars; As far beyond them as you are. Whatever love will take apart Beyond these precious moments, These alone are undivided; And when the night holds weight, Pouring unfamiliar pain In black sheets of separation -
I think this is in Standard E rather than the usual standard C, it shows that " 40 watt sun " depth can be done with any tuning. so Serene, can't wait to listen to the album.
not to be a dick but I think strength to dream was in b watching from a distance was in c and the inside room was in D standard. I can play all the songs from the albums, I guess I could be playing them wrong but im fairly sure
Your'e right about the tuning on watching from a distance and the inside room. Those are the tunings that i came up with after trying forever to learn the songs.
I'm 3 years late to the party, but I think you're right this is in Standard E, but Stages, the first track, is almost certainly in Standard D. I remember seeing a video of this song where I didn't quite understand what Patrick was doing, but he may just been using uncommon voicings.
Take what you need off all you can say Or that you every wanted will put in a place Look not for the ending, the end is unmade All that you ever lived for will carry these days Far beyond the ties of time Far beyond the ties of time The shrill streaks of mourning Ignites some closing loss And the silence speaks more humour Weight, that you have ever known For words are like weapons That only will disclose your weakness But all that was breaking or all that was stole As far beyond towards the stars As far beyond the paths you walk Look what love will take apart All these precious moments These alone or undivided Whatever black holes await On an unfamiliar pain Like sheets of separation
Good work, but I hear things pretty different in some places. "Take what you need of all you can say All that you ever wanted will burn in a blaze Look not for the ending, the end is unmade All that you ever lived for will carry these days Far beyond the ties of time Far beyond the ties of time The shrill streaks of morning Ignite some closing loss And the silence speaks more human Weight than you've ever known For words are like weapons That only will disclose your weakness But all that was breaking, oh, all that was stole Are as far beyond you as the stars As far beyond them as you walk Whatever love will take apart Beyond these precious moments These alone are undivided When the night holds weight Pouring on familiar pain And black sheets of separation"
Made me cry.
This is a musical journey through introspection, melancholy, and spleen, but always seeking to transcend... Excellent tune.
Thank you

I've been in the most darkest places this past winter, I'm glad I've had this album there with me.
This song is not forcing you to feel sad its giving you to sadness of your life

@@Xaviercovers this album is more near to slowcore
I was quite fine , but 10 minutes later my life seems so miserable. I think this is a good song.
That is very accurate.
Dois anos depois, você continua a ter razão. ♥
The emotion in this song is overwhelming. Can't wait to get through the whole album!
I just discovered this song and i fell in love with it. I mean such a talent! Applauds to you👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great song, great album, great band. More please.
Just found 40 Watt Sun from looking through the line up for Roadburn. Digging what i have heard so far. Good stuff.
Take pride in knowing that there is no band out there quite like you guys! Waiting on this album wih bated breath!
This actually sounds an awful lot like Tenhi. But in english. Check for example Vilja by them.
This is a very normal Indie Alternative rock song. nothing special mate. There thousand bands out there with much more unique sounds.

My word, "wherever black holes await" (at least, that's what I think it is) is the most beautiful line in this song
It's "and when the night holds wait."
great song!
So beautiful...

Can't wait for the new album!!!

vermiss di...
This is barely metal, more like Low/Red House Painters
What a crisp observation.
Question is; you still think it's good?
Markus Eriksson very good
Yep! Working on a review of this right now, and Low is the band I am comparing it to. Let you know when its finished if you are interested!
1.5x speed. You're welcome.
i guess so... both speeds r good
seriously? it sucks like that
Nice "The River" feeling. Would be much better with a female vocalis though.
No it wouldn’t
