I love how the twist wasn’t that Miles Bron was a mastermind who’s been pulling the strings. It’s that he’s a complete moron who’s been yanking the strings
The best theory I saw about the random guy in the background was that, since he's always holding a corona beer, he represents the pandemic itself that they are all pretending isn't a thing.
Someone else said they would have rather enjoyed a post-credit sequence where they're all sick with COVID because even Miles' vaccine gun could have been a complete sham
@@zachgaskins3731 Yeah! That would have honestly put a nice bow on the whole movie haha
Lol wouldn't surprise me
@@zachgaskins3731 they should make a joke about it in movie 3
You guys kinda missed the point of a glass onion. (He took the name from the Beatles btw.) Remember Shrek? An onion has layers. You're supposed to metaphorically you find out more than the deeper you go. But a glass onion, you can peel back the layers, but what you're looking for was right in front of you the whole time - you can see through all the layers.
The "Pod" was how we were supposed to socialize in groups of *maybe* 3-4 trusted people at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Someone else pointed it out, but I truly love that the last shot of the movie is the camera moving in on Helen's face at just the right angle so that her smile looks like the Mona Lisa.
They're all still getting comeuppance. Claire and Lionel already signed off on using Klear in a powerplant and a manned mission; even if they stop the projects once this comes out they are both utterly screwed for their negligence and corruption. And Miles can no longer buy out Birdie for her shares with the Bangladesh thing, so now she's gonna go down for the sweatshop without any financial bail out. Peg goes down with Birdie, which kinda sucks for her but at the same time she chose to spend a decade helping Birdie avoid accountability for anything so meh.
The only person who won't get major comeuppance is Whiskey, which is fine because she really did nothing wrong in the first place.
Agreed
I mean, Peg's version of "going down" is just becoming a wage slave with the rest of us again which sucks but eh you can make it work. Comparatively nowhere near as bad.
I loved this movie. I think Knives Out is better though. With this movie, I think the twist is better but because Knives Out was such a surprise deconstruction, the twist lands better there than here. Here I was expecting this caliber of twist. As to your point about the comeuppance, Birdie's done because of Bangladesh, Claire is done because Miles bankrolled her and now he and she are broke, and Lionel worked his whole life at Miles' companies and got that job due to nepotism Miles' credibility is shot and so is his.
Things about this movie:
-The guy explaining what a fugue is is Yo-Yo Ma, a famous cellist.
-The override button was a “Fool on a Hill” because that’s what the killer is. And a bunch of the statues in the living room references the songs mentioned in the Beatles song Glass Onion
-It takes Blanc so long to figure out the mystery because he is "very bad at dumb things."
-The Beatles song Glass Onion is about people over analyzing the lyrics to Beatles songs.
-Helen being the only disruptor and destroying the Glass Onion is foreshadowed at the beginning because she straight up destroys the box instead of playing Miles' game
-Helen and Andi part their hair on opposite sides, like Christopher Reeves did when playing Superman and Clark Kent.
-The names Helen and Cassandra refer to Greek mythology. Cassandra was Paris' sister who could see the future. She predicted that Helen would burn down Troy but no one believed her.
-Derol played by the fanboy state trooper from Knives Out
4:46 that’s Yo-Yo Ma, one of the most famous cellists! Hence why he would know about Bach’s little fugue in G minor
The first time I saw Daniel Craig he was playing a terrifying character in the movie Elizabeth, he was an assasain sent by the Catholic church to take her out since she wanted to break with Rome. Crazy move, insane cast, great history era!
Damn, nobody knows Yo-Yo Ma.
1:02:15 a little hint Duke told people earlier he has all the disruptors in his feeds so he gets news about them as soon as it hits the net
I suspect Helen might come back to work with Blanc as a duo in the next movie. Like a Sherlock Holmes and John Watson type of thing. Blanc complimented her on her skills a couple of times, and also at the end, when he asks her if she's ready to go home, she doesn't answer. I think she might be contemplating asking Blanc to take her in as his assistant. But we'll have to wait for the next movie to find that out!
Poor YO YO MA never getting recognized 😅 he’s just one of the “podcast members” 😭😭
I was so sure when I thought that it was Whiskey who stole the gun
They ARE getting their comeuppance. They were all dependant on Mike. Mike's reputation is ruined, and he's probably gonna have to pay A LOT to make up for the Mona Lisa being burnt. Claire and Lionel both signed off for Klear to be used, and it just blew up the mansion and the Mona Lisa so they're going to lose all their credibility. Also Claire was partying on an island during the pandemic so that's an extra hit. Birdie's reputation is going to be ruined because of Bangladesh. The only thing that was going to save her was Miles paying her off, but now that he's ruined, it's falling through so she's also ruined (and so is Peg). The only one who gets out somewhat unscathed in the bunch is Whiskey, but she also lost her main support: Duke. She's not ruined but she's probably going to struggle more now.
Ok but when are we gonna do this with real billionaires?
I dunno, is the Mona Lisa worth approximately $44 billion? ;)
1:02:25 accurate guess
Why no Ruff here? :(
Because I was busy. We have videos of all variations and we won’t always be in the same videos.
There will be videos with 2 of us, 3 of us and 4 of us. All depends on what we’ve seen and availability
@@sortastupid objectively I understand it, i just wanted to voice my disappointment that I haven't seen you specifically in this one. :)
Fun fact: When the "Mona Lisa" burns at the end, you can see that it's on canvas. The actual Mona Lisa is painted on a wood panel, and it's also slightly smaller than the painting we see here. Conclusion: Miles asked to rent the Mona Lisa, the French government said ok and charged him a sh*tload of money and sent him a copy, and Miles was too stupid to know the difference.
The conclusion is a nice head canon theory based on real world facts.
Once you rewatch this, you can see everything in plain sight, completely unhidden. Around 34:00, you see Dukes' phone in Miles' back pocket. You know it's his, because Miles doesn't have a phone. Once the lights go out and everyone is running around, you can see Miles holding a gun in the hallway. There is only one gun on the island. When Blanc and "Andi" run into each other the first time, he calls her Helen. Nothing is hidden, this onion is completely transparent.
Also, as a southerner with a fairly strong accent myself, I like the line that he says to Helen, where he says he's going to "turn up the southern hokum". I do naturally have quite an accent, but it certainly comes with misconceptions/assumptions that you can play into to disarm people.
They also flat out show miles put the gun in the ice container. It's just right there.
@@Kekkersboy And him pouring the pineapple juice in Duke's drink. And Helen throwing the voice recording into Birdie's bag.
@@unforeseeable2.058 and he handing the drink to Duke as well
Because of his accent, I actually thought he said "heavens!" when he ran into Helen, instead of her name.
I’m from the Midwest, and based on what I’ve seen in media our accents are used to portray a character archetype that’s similar to a stereotypical southern character. My regular accent is pretty mild, but I am definitely able to amp it up if I want to disarm people as well. When I was younger the stereotype used to bug me, but now I think it’s kind of fun to play into.
The guy towards the beginning who identified the music in the puzzle box was the famous cellist Yo Yo Ma.
A jojo reference in glass onion!?!?!?!?
Yo Ma Ma??
Huge fan: I FREAKED OUT when he showed up
I'm disappointed I didn't recognize him like I am disappointed I didn't recognize Angela Lansbury.
I appreciate how all the answers to the puzzle box were done with help from "Ma" Duke's mom told them the answers to the games, and Yo Yo Ma told them the name of the song.
I love how mad Blanc is when he realizes how stupid this whole thing is haha
Yeah he's like *MILES BRON IS AN IDIOT*
and i think what adds to his anger is that he can figure this out, but is still very terrible at clue and among us
He even said in the night before with Helen, that Miles isn't the one who did it cause this would be stupid but then he discovers that Miles is THAT dumb
13:30 This is a rewatch thing:
As we later learn, Benoit never actually saw the working puzzles, which means he's deliberately needling Miles.
Blanc playing Among Us with Angela Lansbury and Stephen Sondheim was a great cameo. The last role for both of them.
And that very scene told us what was to happen - Blanc was indeed the Impostor in the group, who never got invited.
Well the thing about them is that their careers are now destroyed. Miles was literally keeping them propped up. They all were gonna be unemployed and their reputations ruined once Klear failed, so they figured if they were going to go down, they'd take Miles with them.
That even ignoring the perjury charges they will probably be charge with
@@bigwave1713 idk how well it'd work but can argue they've been threatened by Miles that he will cut them off if they don't go along with him. This isn't even far from the truth
the end scene with the Disruptors turning on Bron is both because they no longer have to bow to Miles but also to protect Helen
Miles tells them they all know what happened, in order to try and get them to blame Helen for blowing up the Onion and Mona Lisa, to get the blame off of him
The disruptors instead point out that they are willing to say the truth, even lie for it as Helen asked them
in order to protect her as well as take miles down
If they were just in it for themselves, they would join miles like they did against Andi and blame Helen to protect him
instead they’re protecting her and avenging Andi, Duke and etc as well
Helen was the one who freed them from Miles grasp, so they’re going to back her.
I think both are correct. They _did_ feel bad for what they did to Andi, and they _did_ feel bad about being too cowardly to stick up for Helen before (we could see it on all their faces at the time when she was pleading with them), and when she took Miles down, they _did_ decide to back her, rather than to tell the authorities that she'd burned down the place and burned the Mona Lisa (which is definitely a way they could have gone. That spin wouldn't even have required outright lying.)
It's also true that their careers are destroyed now too, because they all depended on Miles, so they all collectively decided they'd had enough and as long as the lifeline they'd been reluctantly clinging to for years was going down, they might as well appease their consciences by doing what they were too afraid to do before.
Also it’s notable in the final shot of the movie w Helen sitting, she’s posed as the Mona Lisa
It is my wish that after 3 or 4 movies, they do a finale with Marta, Helen and the heroes of the next movie(s) all caught together in a mystery involving all of them and Blanc.
That would be awesome.
The Avengers: A Knives out story
Honestly I prefer if they stay in there own separate story. They told there own story already, and the mystery is rapped up
I think you'd have to threaten Rian Johnson at gunpoint to make him make these movies connected. He didn't even want the "A Knives Out Story" subtitle on this one.
@@Pokemonleafmon they are connected , the "issue" is that it would be more proper to put a "Benoit Blanc and the Knives Out" and "Benoit Blanc and the Glass Onion" , or something of that sorts.
4:44 the "incredibly informative" man is world famous cellist Yo-Yo Ma
I knew it! 😂
Love this movie.
LOL! I don’t think any reactors to this film have recognized Yo-Yo Ma so far!
We're all uncultured swine.
Yo Yo Ma was the one who delightedly explained Bach music structure during the early solving of the box puzzles. My favorite of the many, many great cameos.
Did you hear the Beatles’ song “Glass Onion” playing in the end credits?
Crazy thing about the Mona Lisa isn't important because it's Divinchi's painting, It's famous because it was stolen. In fact no one even noticed it was missing because no one cared about that painting. It's only when it was found, and returned that it became famous.
Yeah that the first clue that he was full of shit, the Mona Lisa is a fine painting but acting like it’s the highest level of artistic expression is just not right
The Mona Lisa never did much for me compared to many other truly great works of art. Supremely famous and revered, but at least for me, not up to its reputation. Like Miles, who only wanted it because of its fame and perceived value. Appropriate.
I wonder if Elon Musk has seen this movie and noticed something familiar about Miles.
Yah that's right!
I remember it getting stolen in Ever After.
And is a perfect glass onion. Hundreds of pages about her and her mysterious smile. Conspiracies, secrets, fcking Dan Brown... behind layers and layers of thick museum protection glass
The entire movie is an condemnation of how grifters take others ideas and inflate their value for their own benefit (instead of genuinely working together for a common goal, like what Andi's group originally thought it could do). It's so delicious seeing Helen burn everything down because any shock reaction to seeing the Mona Lisa burn is still based on the artificiality of its supposed value. Another reactor/essayist compared it to the incident with the climate activists trying to destroy that other painting a few months ago, and it made me stop for a moment and think, "yeah, why _am_ I having this reaction?"
Out of all of this, I feel Peg & Whiskey are the least to blame (aside from Helen and Benoit of course), and at least they owned their bandwagoning, two-levels deep.
15:08 A slight spoiler, but important connection for Knives Out and Glass Onion and Benoit’s presence is that the killer hired Benoit in Knives Out. Therefore, it is assumed in Glass Onion that the killer or pre-killer would have done the same here before we see the twist.
Yeah Ransome hired him in order to make an alibi for himself by having thethe detective find the nurse as the killer
I love this movie and I saw so many reactions to it,and it amazes me that nobody notices when Blanc sees “Andi” and calls her “Hellen” not one so far, gonna keep looking 😅
I’m guessing people that are reacting to this movie doesn’t watch it with a subtitles but they put the subtitles on the edited version for the viewers or something. Because if they watched it with subtitles it said helen ofc but I saw someone says it just sounds like he’s saying hell-en really quickly and it’s not really something to focus about because it doesn’t sound like he’s saying a name or something
The onion is clear as day through the entire first half. You see Miles drop the gun in the ice bucket, you see the drink handoff, You see him with the phone in his pocket after Duke's death, and if you watch his hands throughout the lights off sequence you see him holding the gun in multiple shots. There's some excellent cinematography that tricks your eyes into ignoring all these things on a first watch, but the actual murder and attempted murder we see on screen is "all in plain sight" just like Blanc says.
@@nickwittednonpareil Why are you replying this to them
@@martmcfly Just pointing out other instances (besides Blanc saying Helen) where important information is often missed by the audience.
@@nickwittednonpareil Ohh makes sense
one of those reactors that look for all the Easter eggs pointed out that that actor who played Derol was the actor who played the state trooper in "Knives Out". i fell on the floor laughing when they pointed that out. I knew i heard his voice somewhere.
i knew i recognized him from somewhere!!!
He also played Kid Blue in Looper. RJ loves using that actor in all his stuff
All the other guys get their commupance later anyway. Did you forget the the Governour and Sientist both endorsed klear and Birdy still has that thing with the sweatshop. Whiskey is probably the only one that doesn't get destroyed. But she didn't really do anything bad besides supporting Duke to further her own goals.
and with Miles going down in flames, Peg can probably get clear of Birdie's involvement with the sweatshop.
Omggg i actually just noticed this but when Blanc was looking for'Andi' when the lights were off, Blanc actually called her by her real name 'Helen'. I just noticed this now😭😭😭
The thing is... All 3 remaining members of the Disruptors at the end are still ruined.
The Governor betrayed her core constituency when she signed off on the clear power plant. Without Miles her political career is over.
The Scientist leveed his reputation to sign off on using it on a manned mission to space. Which when the reality behind this event gets out will ruin him.
And Birdie, without Miles' money to buy her out is screwed because of the Sweatshop thing.
So they're all ruined. They've just decided they're going to take him down with them now.
Yup
Plus they’ll probably admit to the napkin thing, Thus admitting they actively lied in a court of law which is like…a life sentence I think.
Even if Birdie went through with the plan, she'll still be in trouble. Miles promised that he will pay her the value of her shares of her sweatpants company as recompense for taking the fall. The fallout once the story breaks will ruin Sweetiepants. There won't be any money for Miles to give her by then.
@@awesomefox555 The maximum under federal law is five years but the conviction itself is enough to hurt any future prospects regardless of what kind of time they actually do.
The rest of the disruptors definitely got screwed over too. Yes we see Miles lose everything but when the news breaks about what happened on that island during the PANDEMIC they are royally FUCKED! The political career is dead, Birdie was already over with she only stayed afloat because of Miles money, the scientist put that disastrous fuel in an investor’s home, so they just ruined his career as well. tbh it'd be so much better if miles just confessed to murder cause this is the worst outcome for all parties except Blanc and maybe helen. granted she did just commit so much property damage and arson so😅
Minor quibble. He didn't even know the fuel system was being installed at the Glass Onion. But he did sign off on it being used on a manned space mission. Still screwed.
Eh, she could claim self defence.
She's not going to get in trouble for the arson an property damage because Miles can't prove it. No one else who was there is going to testify that she broke anything or started the fire.
Batista as Joe Rogan
That's the read I got too! The men's rights advocate, playing to a crowd of relatively-impotent dudes thinking they're being discriminated against by "the feminists". Doesn't come outright and state his views but surrounds himself with "free-thinkers" who have provocative things to say.
fun fact: Darryl was played by the same actor who was a detective on the first Knive's out movie.
I like that nobody recognizes Yo-Yo Ma but everyone that does know, never wonder why he's at huge party during peak Covid.
Oh, I wondered. :)
@@Katerine459 thank you!!!!
the leto drink and renner hot sauce don't actually exist btw
also yeah miles is supposed to be like elon!

@@Gkwilson1487 yeah I honestly think they should both create it! Also prayers up to Jeremy renner bc he’s in the hospital rn :((
Jereny Renner affected the plot more in this movie than he did in any of the Avenger's films
4:43 That is Yo-Y be o Ma, he’s a very famous composer and classical musician, he would know classical music, that’s the joke.
the biggest proof that miles is an absolute idiot; man just committed a murder, sees the women he apparently murdered alive AND suddenly has a renowned detective show up unannounced to his island. this should have been the biggest read flag for him but he is not only oblivious but embraces it.
I swear Kate Hudson is one of the few actresses that can make a character like hers likable and still be "That Dumb Bitch".
If you like murder mysteries. I recommend (if you haven't already) murder on the orient Express. It's so good! I love Agatha Christie!
Janelle Monae stole this movie with her excellent performance
Great reaction. Claire, Birdy, and Lionel are also getting comeuppance, just differently. They’re all so tied to Miles that there’s no way their lives aren’t going to be tanked. They’re all so tied to Miles that there’s no way their lifestyles aren’t going to be tanked; Lionel and Claire signing off on projects related to Klear and Birdy with the Bangladesh sweatshop thing are all bound to come out in the aftermath of Miles’ downfall. Claire, Birdy, and Lionel are also going down.
Also want to point out that this was also basically an elaborate game of Among Us, with Benoit and Andi as the imposters winning in the end.
Out of context spoiler.... Rule of Thirds. 😆
If you enjoyed this murder mystery, may I suggest A Haunting in Venice? Amazing movie, has Kenneth Branagh and Tina Fey in it
looking back, i realized that all the details were there, andi's demeanor, what she was wearing before and after the box puzzle thingy, and everything was in place. great movie

WHAT IS REALITY?!!
The guy talking about music was YoYo Ma, the cellist
The guy in the beginning saying the name of the song is Yo Yo Ma

He really needs to watch Knives Out!!!
One of the best movies I've ever seen.
I was worried about this sequel not matching up to it but no, it did it justice.
It was incredible with a cool twist and it is very very rewatchable.
Never get tired of watching both Knives Out and Glass Onion
And I'm pretty sure that's Benoit's husband not boyfriend
I love how at the end you guys confused Hydrogen for Helium, and saying the helium will go BOOM. But helium is an inert gas so it doesn't react all
They got their comeuppance. Miles saved their careers. Without his backing, they will fail. But they are done with his games.
JFC guys, you never heard of a "pandemic pod" (not a podcast)?
Whoever does the interior design and character outfits for these movies really do a great job
bro theres noooo way u called the ending. u had to have watched this beforehand
4:02 what the hell h man

Can you do the reaction of Ready or Not or Knives out ?
Does anyone have an explanation to why politician lady slowly got a rash towards the end of the movie?
I assume she got sunburnt from being out in the sun during the first day there.
The real flaw in all of this is if Milo wasn't such an self-absorbed idiot he would have removed Andi from the auto mailing list for the boxes.
Oh- Oh shit youre so right!!
I'm pretty sure he sent it so it wouldn't be suspicious. If he didn't you could assume he knew she was already dead.
This is what I assumed. He sent it to her to cover his tracks.
@@cornerstcre3755 @NaninoAnime That would be the sensible thing to do. But since Miles is so stupid and doesn't think things through I think it's more likely that he just forgot about removing Andi from the invitation.
If you suddenly stopped sending an invite after 10 years of doing so, that would look pretty sus.
No one recognizes Yoyo Ma, no one recognizes Angela Lansbury. Cool, BRO.
I definitely recognized Angela Lansbury
I didn’t know this was a Sequel.
If you enjoyed it then Knives Out is a must. They’re both very different and great in their own way.
They're not really, they're just different stories starring Blanc as the detective, like the Agatha Christie novels.
If Miles knew Andy was dead, whyd he send a box to Helen/Andy
Beside from him just being an idiot
More assume than knew, but yeah good point. Especially since the fallout.
I’m assuming they got made and sent before the murder. And if he cancels her box at that point, that’s sus as hell
Plausible deniability
Miles commissioned the boxes before the falling out
he even tells Blanc that the guy he hired to make the boxes just got them done in time
hinting that this was made way in advance
The trial and falling out between Miles and Andi was a few months prior to the current events.
esse filme tem scena improprias para crianças , pois quero ver com minha filha ???
you all talk while watching and thats why you are all asking questions that are already being answered on the screen. example-- the blackout. miles told blanc the reason but because you were busy talking and not paying attention, you spent the next few minutes asking why. 2nd- you asked if the real Andi broke the box. because you spent the entire 2nd half just talking, you also missed how Helen said she was the one who broke it. pretty bad reactors imo. do better next time. your discussions are not that entertaining if u keep missing key points in the movie.
We’re doing alright, I’m sure if you search around RUclips a bit more you can probably find the type of channel you’re lookin for. We clearly aren’t what you’re looking for and that’s okay. Have a great day 🙏
You should of just watched the 1st one once more over this movie as white guy did it and minority woman the hero. LOL Rian Johnson Has Never Had An Original Idea.
name checks out, check yourself into the sun
You guys saw through SO much stuff, I'm impressed! But then you went back and forth on a lot of things so I was so entertained. But also... Helen as Andi parts her hair the other than the real Andi did.
I agree with the ⅔ that say the Shitheads should not be forgiven for anything.
