    Thanks Grant! As always, we appreciate your very informing videos. I do have a few questions: When doing an interview with Amazon and using the STAR method, how often do you think memorizing the Leadership Principles and speaking on them should the interviewee hit on? I hear they look for you to mention some....🤷🏾‍♂️

      Thank you! For any company that has a specific set of principles or characteristics they like their employees to embody, I believe it would be smart to know them well and to discuss them when they are relevant

    I start with Amazon on January 25th as an Area manager at PHX3 and had a question for you. Now that peak season is over have you returned to your normal schedule for the most part? I know every facility runs a bit different but I was just wondering if I will have my regular days off. I keep hearing work life creates no personal life, while on the other hand I hear there is no issues with personal life. The information is all over the place. Thanks for your help.

      Now that peak season is over I have returned back to my normal schedule with my normal days off. Work-life balance (from what I see) can depend on the demands of your department, tenure of your people, and how efficiently you get your work done. I am fortunate to work with a really solid group of managers and associates, and I feel that on my days off I am able to balance my personal life fairly well. Since I am new to the area, I am still creating a personal life for myself, which comes with its own challenges since on my days off everyone else is at work. The most difficult part is being at work during times when most people are spending time with one-another (weekend nights).

    Hi Grant!
    Really enjoying your videos. I had a question about the interview.
    When I say my answer for the question can i say "the situation was this..., my task was....., the action I took was....., and the result was.....?
    Or do you suggest I just say my answer in that format without saying each component of the STAR method?
    Thanks!

      Hi Iguana, they you for watching them. I don't think it is necessarily bad to do this, however I think that if you stray from using those explicit words it will allow the conversation to feel less forced and structured (even though it still is structured). You will also come across as being better equipped for the interview in my opinion. As you practice, think of other words you can use rather than "situation". For example, if the situation was you were working as an intern for a new coffee shop franchise that was struggling to grow their customer base, you could just simply say "In 2019 I was working as an intern for a new coffee-shop franchise that was struggling to grow their customer base. I took it upon myself to come up with a strategy to grow. I did this by analyzing demographics of areas where the coffee shops were located with specific emphasis on income, age, gender, and the local job network. These demographics allowed me to determine the correct pricing model, advertising methods, and optimal operating hours ultimately achieving a 250% increase in customer traffic". This gets through the STAR method without using any of the acronyms.

    Hi Grant. As always, thank you for a very informative video! Just one question regarding the STAR method. How much is too much information for the recruiter? There might be times someones uses an example from a previous project that the interviewer doesn't know much about. Is there a sentence limit/time limit for each letter in the STAR acronym?

    • @Grant0669
      @Grant0669  4 года назад

      Thanks for watching! There is no limit to how much you say, however I would be mindful of not going into too much detail or speaking for too long. Hit the main points so that you give an interviewer enough to generate a discussion from, but don’t tell them so much that you bore them with too much detail

    I have a question because for some reason I cannot open the FAQ document. Do you know how the pay period goes when you first start? For example if I start the 5th of the month do I wait until the end of the month for pay? I know it mentioned it but it’s not opening.

      Same question too

    • @Grant0669
      @Grant0669  4 года назад

      When it comes to pay practice in general, typically if you are paid monthly you would receive your first paycheck at the end of the month with everyone else. You can ask your recruiter to confirm

    Hey Grant, I’m starting as an area manager in August after I graduate. I was just wondering if Amazon brought up, or asked you to recite the leadership principles during ur first 2 weeks or orientation? Wondering if I need to study them before day 1 lmao

    • @Grant0669

      Hi Jake - you should know the leadership principles since they are the pillars of the business, but there is no reason that anyone should ask you to recite them

    • @Grant0669
      @Grant0669  4 года назад

      I believe it depends on the site and the position - if this is something you are worried about I would advise steering clear of anything that would make you not pass a drug test
