Wow I'm way less stressed about font licensing now! Thank you so much for this and for creating cool affordable fonts with simple terms of use. I appreciate you!!
I Use a lot of what other foundries have in their contracts My license cover pretty much everything except SAS and server use so I just combined a bunch of different contract then added in a few specific things of my own.
if I am subscribed to Adobe Creative Cloud, it says that all Adobe fonts are cleared for both personal and commercial use. Does it mean I can create logos and make physical prints for my client without purchasing a license???
Hello, what about the usage of fonts for youtube/tiktok videos? or thumbnails? There seems to be a lot of hard subtitled videos nowadays, and I'm a bit confused on how to properly use fonts for those..
that can be tricky and different from foundry to foundry That That License covers that usage with the regular commercial license. I imagine for other companies it would fall under the social media license.
@@ExtraCreditDesignClub I see, I mean as you suggested I just need to pay attention and read. Right now I am just using Google Fonts, but I just learned about license and this video really helped me to understand the complicated nature of font license 😅 Just preparing myself in case I'm interested in other fonts in the future :) Thank you so much for taking your time to respond, I really appreciate it ❤
Google free fonts. Can I use any font in a commercial product? Yes, you can use them commercially, and even include them within a product that is sold commercially. Usage and redistribution conditions are specified in the license. The most common license is the SIL Open Font License. Some fonts are under the Apache license or Ubuntu Font License. You can redistribute open source fonts according to those conditions.
it depends on the end use if you ever plan on getting it on TV then a broadcasting license, but those can be very expensive so I would only upgrade to that if you end up needing it. besides that I think a desktop or social media license would cover you in most cases.

thanks, I do what I can. being a designer myself it helps to understand the pain points of most designers.
Great advice. Do you have a resource with a licensing template or do you ‘paraphrase’ existing licenses offered by other foundries?

you know your stuff
Great video!
thanks. I was really unsure on this one cuz it is kinda hard to explain without any hard and fast rules so that is good to hear
You're welcome, don't worry everything was understandable and clear. keep it up!@@ExtraCreditDesignClub
What kind of license would i need for an indie short film going to festivals (if lucky hahaha)

What if I outlined the fonts.
same rules apply. Outlining a font does not change its use or effect which license you should buy.
please get to the point in the next videos
I hear you. I wish there was an easier way to simplify font licensing. ill work on gettin staring to it in future videos
