I spent the entire video trying to figure out how they expect someone to get that 400 pound tire off the roof rack. The cab doesn't tip forward that much, and any winching down would likely smash a window.
3BoOoDTV you don't do insane rock crawling with a vehicle like this... + it just looks like it has a high balance point but in fact the chassis is still heavy enough. If you ever driven a big tractor on fields with big rises you would be surprised in fact what they are capable of... they always look like they fall over especially with a big trailer and a lot of hay bale but they won't flip that fast. Same here.
+The Fast Lane Truck Be sure to roll the window down. If it makes to the window seal it will be coming in anyway and you can pull yourself out. I'll donate a hundred dollars if you take one up to the top of Pikes Peak and push off.
This would be really cool if you are planning a drive across Russia or a trip to the tip of South America and back. It seems a bit much for a run to The Smokeys though.
It does seem very top heavy... placing the motor in-front of the axle seems the way to go and then keeping the rest of the cab as low as possible instead of 3 inches under the legal limit lol that way it would truly go anywhere on that chassis
You guys are really topnotch at spotting prototypes‼️ This is the next Fiat 500. It's been slightly enlarged to accommodate the enormous arses of its US customer base‼️😜😜😜
Why does it matter? As soon as they secured enough of footprint in the market for to justify the expense of making a documentary, they would have anyway. It would've been another step in the marketing plan.
The whole point of an overland vehicle is to have a good livable space inside. Not just climbing some inclines. If you look for Unicat (for example), and specially the newer ones, you'll see endless interior pics. I'm not asking for a documentary, only to see a real finished product and an overview of the interior. Those trucks are not finished.
You are correct. Does anybody ever think what is going to happen after the "zombie apocalypse"??? It's all about the money. Where do they get all of this apocalyptic stuff anyway from?? Revelation. After the apocalypse is facing JESUS coming back on the White Horse with the Word of God written on his THIGH. There is a new age after the apocalypse. This vehicle wont help you for long.
+John D Jesus and Lazarus, the first zombies. You will bow and take a knee or the streets will flow with the blood of the nonbelievers. Your stinking truck can't protect you.
Where are you supposed to go "overlanding" in that thing? I guess if all you want to do is go across wide open deserts with tons of highway driving, you are set. But if you want to go on actual trails, you'll be unable to get under tree branches, rock overhangs, and you will be banging your shell into rock walls in off camber situations. They thought of everything except making it usable as an overlander.
+Alex K I would imagine they're designed with low-line or even fared-in roof furniture to prevent that. If, as they said, all that is fitted on the outside of the roof are the solar panels there shouldn't be much up there for trees and the like to get hung up on to do damage. If you try to drive it under a low bridge without paying attention to the height clearance signs then you're an idiot and you deserve the big bill to repair the damage anyway...
+cbf 24 You'd be surprised how stable this type of military truck is. One of the design requirements of them is that they be able to drive over rough terrain at a certain speed, often 50 kmh, so the suspension has to be extremely tough and flexible and the vehicle extremely stable to do that. Of course when you're taking one of these off-road you do need to be mindful that the centre of gravity is higher than in a conventional four wheel drive vehicle and so modify the way you approach certain obstacles such as traversing a side slope but with that in mind and with practice to master the techniques you would probably find that one of these will go anywhere that a conventional road-legal four wheel drive vehicle will and probably further than quite a few will. Of course, if you try to take it places that you otherwise would only try to take a rock crawler or an off-road buggy you might get into trouble, though the large tyres and portal axles will probably make it quite capable over anything but large rocks...
***** 30 degrees transverse is one hell of a side slope. As the camper body is made of aluminium to keep the weight and the centre of gravity down it probably won't reduce that by a whole lot. Thank you for clarifying that, I should have changed my comment after watching the video over and realizing that they weren't portal axles but somehow it slipped my mind. You're right about the Tatras, they really are the puppies privates when it comes to off-road trucks, they are proper beasts. I think the Unimog still uses portal axles, something that was always it's trademark, though new Unimogs are pretty few and far between as they are pricey and they have long working lives, there are still plenty of ones from the '60s plying their trade in places where poor ground conditions are the norm rather than the exception. I didn't realize the Steyr Puch Pinzgauer was an obsolete model now, the UK military is still putting new ones into service, I suppose they must have stockpiled them while they were still in production. I can't help thinking that they must be incredibly capable vehicles off road, I have driven a Haflinger, it's much smaller cousin, and that was hugely more capable than it's small size and tiddly engine would make anyone think. It was also a huge amount of wet, cold and dirty fun too...
I have yet to drive one buy I don't think it would roll that easy, the US military uses these with a big steel box for the back so I think an aluminum box would help a lot.
Unless I missed it in another video, I'm not sure why you would do an episode on this type of vehicle without a finished vehicle to show the interior layout??
It's not. The tires each weigh hundreds of pounds, the chassis is huge and heavy, and the axles are going to be heavy as hell too. That aluminum box is going to be light as hell compared to all that. All the weight is down low.
How is the off gassing from the rigid foam board insulation mitigated? If that box is air tight and in the sun the gases would concentrate in the box and cab.
I have a question though: What would happen if there were any "electrical failure", how the transition would change speed? Second question (the last one): Those exists a alternative manual transmission...? Why those question: If you are in the wild and it happen there there is no electricity system while you are driving (diesel does need one but...) the "electronic devise" for the "automatic transmission" should need an alternative in any case...
"I don't get to drive military trucks everyday." Andre's been drinking and forgot he just spent a few days at Plan B Supply where he drove a bunch of military trucks. These guys use a lot of renewable products. Yeah, that's the number one concern of every pseudo-prepper in California.
600 torque ? Tucks this days have 900 ..how easy is it to get parts if it breaks down on a desert or in the middle of no where ? Can you ask those kind of questions on the next video
If you want to travel any amount of distance beyond 100miles, do NOT get the LMTV chassis or your back will hate you. These things are quite tuff, but not comfortable by any means.
I like the thought of re-purposing military vehicles, but this one had a ridiculous roll-over angle. I think you could get it to 23 degrees on angle before it would roll, now these knuckle heads put this big ass box on the back of it, brilliant. They got rid of the hydraulic cab tilt, which sucks because the alternative is using a bottle jack type lift, takes a while to do. Baldy's tongue click is annoying as hell, not necessary at all.
Immensely cool company and products. But why do you send that gormless presenter to do all of the cool off road/overland based stuff? He looks like he would rather be anyplace else but there! Doesn't have anything interesting to add or any real questions, just stands there like a muppet.
No kidding! Almost ruined the video with a presenter with no personality. "OK." "OK." "OK." Send somebody who can ask real questions and provide real follow ups
I wish companies like this would hire me, I could make this thing 10x better for what there selling it for about $10 k more ASWELL for around $1,000 more per truck !
We will be doing a follow up video of this rig when it's finished. It will be around $300,000, which is relatively affordable when you consider offerings from other companies that reach to over $475,000.
Some can go over $1,000,000 or you could pick up a Tiger for under $200,000 then there is everything in between. This one looks great and $300.000 would be reasonable, for what you get. The only downside to this one is, it is very tall and not too practical for overgrown logging trails with lots of bushes and trees hanging over. On another note, I would like to see you guys do a side by side 4x4 show down of the different chasis, in this segment. Ford F550, Dodge, Fuso, M2, Unimog etc... just to see how they all hold up on a steep and rocky old Forestry trail. Cheers and thanks
No insulation in the cab? And the seats also do not look comfortable, No passage to the cabin? Would be an absolute absurdity for me.I do not want to drive a thousand km.
I was kinda cool until he started spewing about what the interior looked like. What are we supposed to do? Imagine? C'mon TFL, if you're going to do a review then do it on a complete vehicle not a partial.
Prices range from around $50,000 for a raw aluminum RV shell, to around $300,000 rig you see here, to over $1 million for larger luxury RV builds that include 6x6 and 8x8 chassis. This is "affordable" in the relative sense when you consider competition like Earth Roamer and others.
+The Fast Lane Truck I would still get an earth roamer. specifically the xvhd. why haven't you guys done an off road review for at least the f550 based one?
aluminum i want to see it get hit with a pickax, i hear bug out vehicle i want bullet proof sides because who knows whos in the woods, a lot of hunters in my area
im here because i saw Goonzsquad just got one similar to this :)
Me too
Nick I clicked the vid just to see if anyone else came!
Me too
I spent the entire video trying to figure out how they expect someone to get that 400 pound tire off the roof rack. The cab doesn't tip forward that much, and any winching down would likely smash a window.
I'm I the only one who thinks that this truck can easily roll over?
3BoOoDTV no your not
3BoOoDTV you don't do insane rock crawling with a vehicle like this...
Same here.
@@MrSylvester1111 "you don't do insane rock crawling with a vehicle like this" Well... Unimog??
Yes.
hard to roll over a 17,000 lb chassis
TFLT you guys are awesome! your channel is bad ass!! you guys have one of the best job in the world!
A larger truck deserves a larger puddle. Andre, would you drive that into the Pacific Ocean, more specifically, the Marianas trench?
+Troy Strain Andre says - yes!
+The Fast Lane Truck Be sure to roll the window down. If it makes to the window seal it will be coming in anyway and you can pull yourself out. I'll donate a hundred dollars if you take one up to the top of Pikes Peak and push off.
You need an OKA RV mate made in australia they are waterproof and float because the body is one piece not a truck modified into a camper
Nice to see how they build these things!
would be nicer if they included more hardcore off road driving or actual finished products. we we saw was just metal boxes.
This would be really cool if you are planning a drive across Russia or a trip to the tip of South America and back. It seems a bit much for a run to The Smokeys though.
Just one more thing for the filthy rich to spend money on.......wish I was filthy rich 😜
Mr. Cornbread I'd be happy to just be mildly dirty.
Let me buy it and drive it to my brother's school!
Cool truck for fun but unless gas & diesel starts raining from the sky none of the types of vehicles will go far in "survival" situations.
man that thing will flip on it side so easily
have you seen sand filled punching bags, its like that, all the weight is in the bottom
Video starts at 5:05
I would like to see the LARGEST completed RV box (end of the video).
My thought exactly as well.
Now you need to go back when its finished
It must be fun getting that spare tire off the roof...
that's cool I always wondered if there was a RV like that
Looks looks like a sand crawler from Star Wars!
Have anythin g based on the 8x8 HEMTT? i was going to pick one up at auction for $5000 and fix it up for another 5k and turn it into an offroad camper
LOL! This is hilarious, thanks for showing this. I would love to have this when off-roading.
the duce and a half next to it looks way sicker and wont flip over goin over a speed bumb sideways
These are hella cool but the bad part is they are hella expensive. lol
and tall af
I would prefer a lower ground pressure footprint with 6x6 for a vehicle that size/weight. 6x6 slightly long and a lower profile.
Pretty sweet rides. Thanks for sharing.
Seems like the tire could kick up a lot of dust for the air filter. Other than that looks like a nice rebuild
The Chuck Norris of rv's
So, no completed interior takes? That's not a good advertisement for the company...
We are planning another video with this rig later this summer to show the complete interior/product. We really want to see the features.
+The Fast Lane Truck can you guys do more on the other vehicles they have??
Why does it matter? As soon as they secured enough of footprint in the market for to justify the expense of making a documentary, they would have anyway. It would've been another step in the marketing plan.

+LosLocosDeLaPradera they're bugout trucks.
Cool unfinished vehicle and the opening shot of the interview has a huge plastic barrel filled with trash.
I love these Plan B reviews! I look forward to all future TFL truck vids.
There will be no future. That's what they're showing.
+Rob Thomas Now or in the Mad Max future?

BE MORE CLEAR TROY. YOU EITHER DIDN'T READ WHAT I WROTE OR YOU ARE ALREADY A ZOMBIE IN YOUR HEAD.
roof systems seems like a condensation magnet. Other than that, cool
I'd rather have only the truck itself and just sleep in the cab or something lol. The box is massive and the back would be perfect for storage
Why wouldn't they show a finished one
A finished one was not available for us to look at. However, we are planning another video with the finished RV this summer.
+The Fast Lane Truck Y U NO EARTHROAMER?
+The Fast Lane Truck ok thank you
Love the truck I see you moved the air intake it’s way to low for any water crossing

What do they use for differential lockers? All I can find is old school Detroits.
would definitely be interested in a hummer from them. That would be my new truck lol
I want one!!!
So why do you keep doing these trucks with army weapons? I subscribed too see pick ups and dually's and other trucks like that..
I would like to see a finished product, until then, its still earth roamer.
Question with a largest chassis could they integrate the cockpit into the living space???
hey Andrei you gotta make videos for Kamaz and Niva:)
I want one.

Whatever happened to Parts 3 and 4?
what is going on with the camera guy inside the interview shots?
Do you have to be certifiable, with papers signed by two psychiatrists, to buy one of these?
I got a m1088 for ya with about 6 thousand miles 17 grand. perfect truck.
I wish companies like this would hire me, I could make this thing 10x better for what there selling it for about $10 k more ASWELL
for around $1,000 more per truck !
$9k profit more per truck
Its not good for bugout vehicle to have too much electronics if it brakes you are screwed.Other than that sweet ride.
This particular unit seems a bit too tall for my taste. Good luck clearing branches, and the center of gravity seems quite high...
Spare tire placement impractical, theirs a reason why the stock LMTV has a lift system for the spare behind the cab and can be done all by yourself.
Awesome
Looks like an American copy of the Unimog
In the real shtf situation, you guys be a very "yami " target. You can drive, you have a food...
where do the 11 people sitwhen driving?
The title is " The Affordable Zombie Apocalypse RV" so how much does it cost?

That air intake, lowered down at wheel level, so engine can breath all the dust and mud 🤣...3 feet of water will destroy that engine.
A zombie will piss in that lowered air intake and will destroy the engine 🤣
get a hemtt next

Joe Neuman in the passengers seat.......

where do you get diesel in an apocalypse?
+Mat Winner Making bio-diesel yourself is one option. But we don't mean Zombie Apocalypse literally.
One thing is for sure: nobody will tailgate you.
can i get a standard shift (manual) 8x8 rv that can go ANYWHERE with as many people as i want (my family)
+the_gibbstar plays Manual will be hard to find, but you can always get an 8x8 RV
i know i would still like to get a 8x8 rv would it still be street legal as a rv
"built like a sky scraper", hope your jet fuel doesnt melt your steal beams.
Ok, ok, ok, yes, ok,ok
It’s just so noisy in side the cabin... imagine doing 1000 klm + in it...🙉🙉🙉
