We used the Diamond T's before we got the Antar's for pulling the tanks, I can remember being a tank driver sitting next to the Diamond T driver and holding the low box gear lever back to , stop it from jumping out as we went up hills, scary stuff for a young lad.
This was a fun episode! Thanks for it. One suggestion on the Diamond T truck- get rid of the corrugated exhaust pipe, and put in some nice Walker or AP solid steel exhaust tubing. The stuff used on school buses in North America is cheap but good. The corrugated stuff leaks and rots fast. Can't really clamp it securely either. Just my $0.02 worth.
Road wheel studs shearing was quite common. I cant remember the exact procedure, for for replacing them, but it was a normal tank park job using the tanks tools.

Concrete Chieftain will be sound as a pound now you have that jig plate thingy (technical term). I wouldn't bin it when its done as 'you never know'. That Rio will look the canine's gonads when you have done your magic.
I suspect that the two meters on the control box are toast. They are both sitting off zero, and farther off than the meter adjuster screws at the bottom if the glass would normally correct. All of the rest of it looks electrically sound from what I could see. The cosmetics of the panel are a bit rubbish, but most of that will probably clean up well enough. BTW, some of that looks to be 1970s electrics. They didn't have LEDs in the 1960s.
the DT never had an ignition key they just had an ignition switch which is under the oil pressure gauge on your truck and the series parallel switch in the floor for starting. the C6 Rolls sounds nice with a straight through pipe out the side under the fuel tank. i have got a few vids on YT of my mates Rolls powered DT on the road.
Are you sure the hole in the right hand side of the firewall shroud was a civilian job? The US Marines modified all their heavy trucks to have exhaust stacks located there for amphibious and beach operations to allow deep fording. Only played with diamond T wreckers before, one 40's-50's and the other Vietnam era (Australian RAEME recovered the dumped vehicle in Vietnam when departing from where US forces had just left it.)
