He's good at that. I was trying to get up this one ledge that I later found out was a red herring, and after like the third time I fell off I could just feel the judgement in Trico's face. "Smolfriend y u keep doing this to yourself"
He will do that anytime to jump from heights, and his attention is on you. I was just trying to hop onto his head from a ledge, he thought I was falling, so he caught me xD
One time i tried to land in his head from a height,he "headbutted" me trying to grab the boy since i was above him, andd i fell into the void. Thanks Trico But i still find the fact that he can grab you super cute
Once I jumped of a ledge but landed on the platform in between where I jumped and where Trico was. Trico still grabbed me but I started to glitch and spazzing out. Luckily when Trico place me back down I was back to normal but it was still funny.
I remember once Trico catched me WHILE scratching himself,so the boy was levitating next to Trico, and he was just minding his own business cleaning himself
Good save! It happened to me quite a bit in the Colosseum, when I was trying to catapult a helmet into the upper room. I'd launch myself up to see if the toss was successful (it usually wasn't), then fall back down below. It's cute when Trico catches you, but it can take a second or two for him to put you down. xD (It's even cuter when Trico picks you up by the collar and tosses you over his head. Though that may be limited to select areas. Seems it happened once or twice in a single playthrough, usually when Trico was wanting to move forward and I was dawdling down by his nose.) Also, I'd been wondering about that particular wall. I never bothered climbing up myself, but I noticed several red herring vine paths here and there throughout the game, and was curious as to how high they reached. I like those little details. It adds a nice touch.
Oh I love it when he tosses you onto his back. Those parts make me so happy like really feel the bond there with Trico. Out of curiousity how did you get the helmet up there?? I tried to just go for the trophy where you let yourself fall back down and I did that by holding onto the helmet (thought that was the way), but he just lets go of it midair and grabs onto the grate above anyway. I couldn't quite get that to work in my favor.
I don't know why people complain so much about Tricos AI. It works like a absolute charm for me, with little to no flaws at all. People just don't understand how to play this game, or how the commands work for that matter.
Purely Meek exactly, once you actually understand Trico things work out, and for me the commands are easy, I can tell her to sit which will stop her from doing anything I don't want her to do jump command is easy, just tell her to jump once and let her take her time, the pointing command is one of the easiest commands, all you have to do is continue to press the command and she'll go to where you're pointing and the stand command can get her to stand and face where you want to go which can make the jump command easier, on my first time playing I got across the bridge no problem, I told Trico to jump, she jumped on the pillar next to the and jumped across the bridge, since other people were having trouble getting her over the bridge so I thought I was just lucky, yet here I am playing the game for my 6th time and haven't had a problem once.
it's BlueCrystalRose it's BlueCrystalRose Precisely! I feel like you're one of the few people who really get this game. You have to have some patience whilst handling Trico to some extent, but not a lot. As for one, he _won't_ always do what you tell him, especially not straight away, it's part of his character. You might tell him to attack a wooden crate and it may take him a few seconds to actually get on with it, but by then most people will assume he's not listening to them then tell him to do something else entirely. People are use to games that give every single thing to you and hold your hand throughout. The fact that the majority of people who played for the first time didn't know there was a 'stop/stay' command really annoyed me, they'd be yelling at Trico to stay in a certain place when you can _actually_ make him stay there if you take the time to explore the controls a bit. Currently on my 26th playthrough and same as you, I have encountered practically no problems at all with Tricos responsiveness (besides my speedruns, he seems to really take his time doing crud when I'm in a hurry, lol, he still does what I tell him though) So I'm glad you don't have any problems while playing! Just proves this game is not broken like people claim. People just don't have the patience for it, telling Trico to do one thing then another, throwing commands in every direction then wondering why he's sitting there staring at you, head cocked sideways. you can get through the entire game very quickly if you know what you're doing. It's the sorta game you need to play a second time. Or you know, 100 times since it's so good. You gotta work _with_ your feathered friend, not against him.
Seriously. Trico's AI is darn near perfect, IMO. Most of the gameplay vids I've seen are people throwing fifteen commands at him at once and then raging because he doesn't do as they say. Barking orders one right after the other only confuses him. You give a command, and if he doesn't respond right away, wait a few seconds, then try again. Yes, some patience is required at points, but that's no different than if you were dealing with a "real" pet. And frankly, there's very little use for most of the buttons outside the directional commands. Even the "dreaded diving," where people seem to gripe the most, is easiest if you simply point forward when Trico's wading in the water. The AI is so good that Trico just "knows" what to do, without actually administering a "specific" command. There's maybe only two or three instances it's even necessary to use R1+O. And the "Lightning Emissary" Trophy is cake. I got in under five hours my first "speed" attempt. And that was with some significant dawdling.
Exactly, I'd heard people had trouble with him in the beginning, so I went in with the mindset of 'OK, wild animal, have patience'. He was fine, at least 80-90% of the time. It was the boy I had trouble with, and then only AFTER Trico is supposed to obey you did I struggle so the last fourth of the game, and I wasn't doing any differently because he was technically still wild.
@@kimberlyb. Yeah, it's like when people give me a verbal list of commands then get annoyed because I do 3 at a time then ask for the next lot and it's repeated until I get it done. And I don't think Trico's got the 'excuse' of autism, as I've found out mine is XD And Trico can't read so no use writing a list.
That little whine "son you are doing me a concern"
Kay S and the little ear twitch like "OH SHIT LITTLE CUB!"
He's good at that. I was trying to get up this one ledge that I later found out was a red herring, and after like the third time I fell off I could just feel the judgement in Trico's face. "Smolfriend y u keep doing this to yourself"
